Hello everyone! In this week's video I am repurposing my forgotten OCs! I’ve wanted to do some more development on my character Pariah’s world and story. So this video is going to be about developing the world she is in and the characters in it. I will be designing character, a fantasy village, and more! I am creating these sketches and illustrations in Clip Studio Paint.

I first watched your videos in 2015 late, or around early 2016. Likely 2015 though, I was around 12-11. I'm now 20, time flies too fast :(

You could always make the houses appear as mushrooms or pumpkins, as a sort of deseption for natural predators - that way you can still make cute fantasy homes + have it logically make sense

You should bring Alfred along, and if you do, once your done with the character development bring the mullet back. I hate mullets in real life, but I thought it looked good here. And maybe he could join some form of elf council since that's in his name. In the end, do what you want, I know how annoying it is to write and people constantly giving suggestions but I thought it was cool, soooo.... I hope you enjoy this idea if you see this!

As someone who loves drawing concept art as well, THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN TO WATCH! I liked learning more abt the story you were making and I’m honestly so intrigued to know more 👀. I think because of this video I’ll FINALLY be able to start making concept art for a passion project I’ve been putting on hold for over 3 YEARS at this point! Also, my favorite thing from this vid was seeing you redesign Alfred! I remember seeing this oc on the tier list video and wondering, “Man…I wonder if she’ll ever bring him back 😔👊.” BUT HE CAME OUT HAVING AN INTERESTING PREMISE AND STORY!! Plz make more vids like these, they’re so fun to watch and actually give me inspiration for making concepts like these lol.

An idea I had while you were talking about how difficult it is to justify having plants as houses when they mysteriously never rot is that you could explain it with magic. Maybe it's the plant magic the fairies possess, maybe the inherent magic of fairies existing naturally keeps them alive, or maybe there is some kind of magical substance in the world the fairies found that can keep plants from rotting.
I personally think the last idea could be really interesting, because then you can start thinking about where this substance came from, how common/rare it is, the market around selling it, the people who collect it, and whatever else needs to be fleshed out for something like this.
I might even use this idea in my own fairy/fantasy story. But I wanted to share it with you in case this is a solution that would work well for you!

Concept art is fun!! Just an idea, what if you created characters for Pariah's world using floriography/flower symbolism? Ex. chamomile (patience), daisy (innocence), sweet woodruff (humility) 🌷🌸

Honestly idk why but I imagine Eugene to have been like a very bold and adventurous person when he was younger. Like he would want travel around the world and have a kinda tsundere, prideful personality. But then he met Alfred's mother and kinda learnt to enjoy simpler things in life and just kinda retired in a quiet remote town
I can imagine myself liking this story once its ready for publishing!
When it comes to my stories, I repurpose unused characters a lot (depending on the story) and theres a few good examples!
Like how my horror comic's first antagonist was another antagonist for the early stages of its now sequel but she was eventually forgotten until I started developing my current comic and decided to reuse her for it.
(And she changed a lot after she started adapting to the story she's been placed in haha!)
I really love the concept of this universe so far! Also, ngl, I kinda like Alfred a lot rn 😆
I also have a village like setting for an elf-neko universe I've been trying to build, so I think this video along with the others will definitely provide some inspiration! I can't wait to see how much more you flush out this beautiful world. :)
It might be an interesting idea for Alfred to have a regency era style ponytail to contribute to the time period. Not sure how historical you want to make this.
OH OH!! What if, For Alfred, you make his wings resemble the spiky leaves of rozes :0
I think that would a really cool bit to his character design since he grows roses :D
I also think it was very cool you had him be a "Pretty Boy" since roses are indeed beautiful, and have his personality to be more prickly and hurtful towards Piriya (Did i spell that right-) like the thorns on roses! Very good indeed :3

I have a suggestion. Maybe Carson could grow java moss in small shallow bodies of water for little guppies so they can hide from predators. I really pike this concept. :)
I never format city’s or where my characters live in my story’s but when I saw you formatting the village it looked kinda fun and you gave me inspiration lol😂

An idea I have for plant houses and houses made of things like pumpkins is that the fairies are able to keep it from rotting using their magic

BECKAH THIS IS SO AWESOME- IF YOU DO MORE OF THIS KIND OF CONCEPT STUFF I WOULD 1000% WATCH IT!!! I like how Alfred isn’t just mean because he is naturally bad. He’s like that because of circumstances and typical insecurity that all teens go through when they realize that their parents would unconsciously treat another child more softly or differently than themselves. 😭

I absolutely LOOOOVE these types of videos!! Seeing all the cool characters, concepts and world building and all the logistics and information is always SOO cool to me!
I was wondering if you’d considered making this story in a kind of fairy tail book format. In lots of books with fairy tales or story books they use a similar kind of watercolour style and the concept of fairies seems to fit the kind of vibes a book like that has.
Also they usually have a full drawing every couple pages along with smaller sketches (for example of a single thing like a plant, or characters) on most pages.
I feel like it might be easier to handle and you could keep the drawings more loose and sketchy as well as the vibe of fairy tales and whimsical things which your story gives me. >u<

I remember in 2022 sketching out a city for one of my stories on scrap paper when I was at work. I started the story in 2019 and still haven't finished a single draft XD

Oh my gosh!!! I love these kinds of videos please do more stuff on developing pariahs world!!! (No pressure of course! don't stress yourself out or overwork! Your health is important!) Maybe next time you could do something like drawing little drawings to see how different characters would interact with each other!! Maybe Samson interacting w pariahs family? That would be SUPER cute!! And I've already fallen in love with Alfred and Eugene!! I do hope Alfred can learn to love his adopted sister though 😭
Man i'm such a sucker for lore. I love it. I love reading about it. I love going into deep rabbit dives on theories and hidden themes. This video is right up my alley and I love everything you drew in it.
In regards to the story format, I personally think that a mix of both writing and illustration is the best to tell a story. A lot of stuff when written down feels really tacky, and sometimes it's better to show what is happening rather than describing it and vice versa. Drawing it gives you full control over composition, flow and vibes. It can also be a much better way of showing symbolism than writing it. You can allow your readers to notice small details themselves rather than have to somehow convey important info thru a written format without sounding too literal or abstract. It's also the same thing in reverse as well. Sometimes, letting your readers imagine what is going on can give more substance to the plot. Of course, some are able to convey everything they want through only one form and needing to rely on another form for some scenes may be a sign of a lack of skill and technique in one or the other, but that doesn't mean it's always the case and that writers/visual artists are only allowed to stick to one form to tell a story. The only problem I see is trying to seamlessly blend the writing with the drawings without them being too jarring. Inserting them at the right time, moment and frequency is pretty important.
It would be super cool for Alfred and Pariah to develop romantic feelings for each other!! She'll teach him to be less stuck up and he'll fall for her. And it wouldn't actually be weird since they're not actually or adopted siblings.
Maybe you could try making the buildings have human-like architecture with unconventional shapes. Like Hobbit holes or Squidward's house from Spongebob.
I have a feeling that when parayah leave the village Alfred is going to miss her very much

Okay. First of all, I ADORE this world you’re putting together. The concept is so intriguing, I’m really excited for whenever you’re able to develop it more. I honestly love when you make videos focused on Priya’s story, I love her design and the artstyle you use for the characters is so cute.
And second, I just wanted to share a little idea I had for a possible arc for Alfred while I was watching his section and you explained his character. You said he’s kinda jealous of Priya and doesn’t like her all that much, so I had an idea where he could be a part of the story instead of a background or side character, and over time he starts to slowly form a soft spot for her and maybe starts to eventually see her as an actual little sister. Like a scenario that popped up in my mind was that Priya ends up in a situation that puts her safety at risk and Alfred jumps in to help her out, and then afterwards he proceeds to deny it because he gave me that vibe and maybe use the excuse that Papa Eugene would be sad if anything happened to her and that’s why he helped her (but really he’s just becoming a big softie.)
Idk, I just really love it when a character like him becomes gradually softer as the story progresses and I thought it was cute. Figured I’d share it to maybe help give you an idea of what to do with him story-wise, but in the end it’s your choice.
(EDIT: geez this comment was longer than I thought it was…)
This also spaced my mind at first, but his arc could also involve him maturing a bit, since you said he’s gonna be the next village leader and the vibes he gave me when I saw the concept art you did for him was that he wasn’t all that mature. And he could still have a bit of an attitude and stuff, but he’d have a secret soft spot.
Again, just sharing some thoughts.

Old characters with sweet personalities and big bushy mustaches with beards are so fun and hold a special place in probably everyone’s heart (that might be because Santa 🎅 lol)

The house is cute too, cottage core is so cute for the village!
Maybe you could add painted flower or leaf designs on the outside walls or add vines (maybe Pariah painted them because she is sad she can’t grow flowers), some moss on the roof, and lots of pretty roses all around it. Just an idea I thought could be cute and whimsical ✨ I bet whatever you come up with for it will be adorable!
Also you said you don’t know how the plant houses would keep from rotting. If you would still want to do that at all, it could be that when they are turned into homes the fairies that live in them can keep them from rotting so it stays their cute fresh home

I saw a trend a while ago, which was something like, drawing myself /me and my friends in different universes, and of course ypu did that with so many things, but why don't you try drawing your husband in different universes as well! It could be really cool to take Alfred along with the story! For example, if he actually disliked his adopted sister because of a personal fear? He could end up actually getting to know her like he did his relatives in his original story, and his new affection for her could help better integrate her into the hometown (since I image as the majors son he probably has some sort of popularity or social influence)
Great video, and i think paris's world is almost like The legend of Zelda Ocarina of time where young link was adopted by the great deku tree.

I understand that creating a manga for paraya's story would be overwhelming and time consuming howvever I believe you an alternation options might be a visual novel. It can combine both your storytelling with visuals! And also because you have made them in the past !

You should definitely make it a manga! I like light novels, and I understand they take less time, but I think the more time you spend on something, the more attached you become. I think it would be awesome to be able to become attached to all these characters ❤
