the clay body and the pakistani thin body ones sound very close to a specific Tombak that was popular during the mid to late 20th century made with a metalic body. it was commonly used in folkloric music of Tehran and in variety shows. It is rather rare nowadays but sounds very sharp.

Thanks for compliment) Multiple body means that’s Tombak built from several pieces of wood, but usually this instrument are cheap and bad quality. For my opinion I prefer whole body , good quality walnut or mulberry.
Very well played, I didn't know that Tombak also has so many types, I wonder if there's anything like a standard Tombak instrument of one particular type? Is it the Persian variant that's the classical and standard? Just wondering; love from India 👍🇮🇳🙏
@@kirill_osherov that was my impression, the techniques are very distinct from darbuka and frame drum which is what I play. But there are almost no Iranians in the USA!
Hello. Thank you so much for these tutorials they are priceless. I have an issue with my tombak, it sounded beautiful in Iran but as soon as I bought it back to Europe it became more bassy and lost a lot of the clicking sound. How do you prepare your tombak for performances? Do you think I have to heat up the tombak with a blow dryer or just play on it more often?
@@kirill_osherov Last question do you wrap the electric pillow around the tombak or do you put the electric pillow on top of the skin? Many thanks. I bought a tombak not knowing these things and I'm self learning.
