very inspirational video i cried my pants, you guys should definitely skip the last 10 seconds of the video though haha there's nothing weird there or anything
yknow, playing IS 2 has made me appreciate certain characters that i've hated in the past for example hung, who i've been wanting to HUNG since nian's banner was somehow much more usefull than i could imagine i was in the 3rd floor fighting the boss who's playing music and the poison mist and i realized, I HAD NO ONE WHO COULD ACTUALLY SURVIVE THIS BOSS' HITS. as meh as this boss was usually, i genuinely did not have any dps ops who could kill him fast enough or survive his hits last ditch effort i just put hung in the top left corner and left him there for like the entire stage. that 100% attack for 1 second during skill activation artifact is so broken on hung, at least on this one circumstance so there i was, finished with the stage, except for this STUPID BOSS. and the only dps that could reach the bastard was chiave's S2. so there i was. sitting there for 8 IRL minutes, waiting for chiave to recover his skill and inch off a few pixels of the boss' health
Thanks for reaching out to me for my perspective on my niche. It’s not often people directly address niche playstyles as a whole despite there being so many creators for it, so I’m glad that this video exists. Spreading the good word about birds is also a good thing too lol
What alleviated my burnout personally is when I started making a circle of friends to take the piss out of our shitty clears, mald together about stages together or get excited about upcoming stuff together. Do not underestimate how powerful sharing something you enjoy with someone else is and I believe that also helps the Nicheknights players as they have a sort of community where they do these things.

This honestly inspired me. I've been stuck in a rut since way back January, clearing everything with meta ops. Now this video got me thinking about picking up my own niche to make the game more fun. Bearknights huh... I've got a long way to go...
Meta players are also a type of nicheknights their niche is 6* OP units (and i guess sometimes when they want a challenge, they use a single 4* for their vanguard)

I fell in love with Arknights in Walk in the Dust, that razor-thin victory against Pursuer. I think that's where Arknights shines- when you're puzzling out your victory and making it happen. After a year of play, more or less, I started a nicheknights account - Specialist & Supporter only. It's not as badass as Zafang doing specialist only, but it puts the difficulty level in the right spot and it's got cool ops. I find I like leveling the team more when it's a concentrated team of 38 instead of 220 scattered ops.
I've also got a Specialknights account, it's pretty funny when the majority of operators get thrown in the trash bin. Usually it ends up becoming summoners+, though.
I have started to raise my 4* operators for IS2, and since I think it is a waste to just level them up and not use them, I have started switching some of my meta operators for those 4*. It has been pretty fun and I fell in love with Cutter.
Waifuknights is probably the best way to enjoy the game on a budget. If you only use the ops you personally connect with, whether aesthetically or for gameplay reasons you will inevitably feel a sense of personal fulfillment when you clear a stage with them. It's also a flexible enough rule that probably some S tier operators will fall into your particular taste.
I always go into gacha games with the mindset of using the characters I actually like or feel like using rather than what is advised. One moment I want to play around with Mostima, next I want to push as far as possible only using 1-2 stars and I often bring Melantha simply because I find her adorable. Playing like how you feel like really helps the motivation to keep playing, especially in a game like Arknights, a single-player game where the top units aren't actually needed to complete anything outside of max risk CC, which is only for the most hardcore to challenge their brain against.
Some weeks ago i've started to trying some kind of "abyss hunter with DLCs" by using fishknights or just Aegirknights, i really like the operator that are in this niche, but i must say: is really hard These type of videos make me want to continue trying over and over until i beat some hard stage with this team
Thanks, Eha. We should indeed play the game as we'd like. Fear of malding is no excuse for learning how to potentially make the game more fun. Time to die repeatedly in sniperknights
Yeah, this is what I've been doing with my account. I'm doing welfareknights with a little rule bending, (allowing ALL three stars and ops that shouldn't even be allowed to have potential I.E. Texas) and trying to find ways to be able to use the ENTIRE squad in hard operations. (Basically, the opposite of low-op optimization.) Then when I get bored of it, I switch back to my OP operators to unga bunga stages. Kokokbeluk was the one that got me interested in this niche and when Gladiia release, it was the final nail that made me go all in. Currently, I'm interested in building the abyssal hunter team (perhaps with Iberia-born friends) as I really like their aesthetics and incredibly bs future modules.
Wow this video have some of the players I admire together. I don't have a really endgame account but i realized that i eventually should try something different and since my first two waifus were GG and Schwarz I choose Felines as a project for the future
One day we will get a Lupo Healer, and I’m so impatiently waiting for them to be able to start my own niche. I an still collecting them, it will happen even without a healer, but still as new as I am, I need time to collect all my wolves. God speed Eha, I always liked your content

I guess I'm lucky in that even 2 years later I still get those dopamine hits whenever I make silverash do his schwing schwing. But I'm definitely interested in trying abyssal hunter clears.
i am currently getting into vanguardknights, and it started because i love bagpipe, she's my wife. i brought her to every stage and i tended to bring quite a few vanguards with her too because of her synergy. i also love a lot of other vanguards character, like flametail, zima, grani and blacknight.
Picked up BunnyKnights recently and managed to clear all of the base difficulty ch 11 stages with them. It was probably the thing I'm most proud of doing. Might have to redo the boss and post it at some point.
Dragonnights is my sickness, I need all the dragon girls, Reed Alter is making my wallet cry. I also really love loreknights for thise lore appropriate clears
This makes me miss Hymnoi Wisdom I think it was with having to use ops I never used before to clear the early stages so I could use more stronger ops later on I think that's when I first used Mint and a few others I never E1ed and was pleasantly surprised at how fun they were Hope that returns or at least I can rewatch my previous run
This inspired me to start building my own nicheknights team. My niche? Limitedknights. It’s more of a challenge to my wallet rather than gameplay wise.
I have a set squad with my favs, there’s nothing in common between them other than they are my favs. For instance, I got Carnelian and very reluctantly upped her thinking I wouldn’t enjoy her SPECIALLY since I really wanted her sister… Turns out Carnelian was incredibly fun to use! So I added her to my team, way way long after that I got beeswax and since I felt bad replacing Carnelian, I set for using both in my team! And that’s more or less how I built it. I have strong ops and not so strong ops like Indigo or Blacknight as my only vanguard….still, I really thought about trying out sleepknights, or iberianknights or even catknights! For now, I’m just trying to beat every stage with this set squad, which sometimes turns out to be quite hard but I enjoy it a lot!
I was playing everyday for like 2 years then went on and off. I just came back playing the game fully cause i would always listen to the music on youtube
Yep, deciding to play nicheknights alleviated my burnout...or that's what I would like to say because I to this day I haven't chosen a niche. Too many fun things to try out.
I'm glad you're finally close to understand this game only has Medics, the only melee units are Mon3tr and Nightingale's phantoms and that Amiya has only one form and it's the medic form. I wait for you on the other side of the MedicKnights's gates, brother.
Me, a noob Dokutah Me, fascinated by 3-stars ever since unlocking some of their records Me, using 3-stars on everything (since they're easily maxed) to catch up to everyone, especially new events 3-StarKnights way before endgame :')
I don't play nicheknights, but for whatever fucking weird reason, I _forget_ about certain ops every once in a while. For example, as much as I like Ling or Surtr, I tend to forget I can use them. I sparked Ch'alter on the Gavial banner, but I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if I don't use her for at least a few months, until someone tells me to use her and I'll go "Oh right, she exists!". I get weird tunnel vision for reasons unknown to me. As for ops I don't usually use (regardless of how strong they are), SSS has actually been quite an eye opener. Even if I know what an operator does and I have them leveled, it happens very often I can do the same thing with another operator I'm used to using, so I end up kind of disregarding them. SSS kind of pushed back against that mindset, since you don't always get to use the ops you're used to
Whenever I got burnt out of Arknights I would either drop it for a few months or start a new second account. The newest account I've made I've decided to try out no gacha/recruitments. So far it's been very fun using the free characters and figuring out how they work, and I love the appreciation I get for them. I don't know how long I'll keep this account going for, but it really helps me appreciate the game that much more, and it's fun to try to plan strategies around not having an AOE physical damage dealer or any medic defenders.
I started playing Birdknights a while ago although I'm still not that good at it, but when I try stuff using Birdknights it's the most fun I have paying the game
I've been playing since launch, and have used a number of niches over that time. My first one was "physical damage only" which later became "Kazimierz operators" who are almost entirely physical anyway. Recently though the idea of using casters, who I've neglected for years, has started to seem cool and fresh, so I'm having fun again just using whoever I feel like while I wait for Dorothy and team Rhine. ...That said, I've also specifically rejected a lot of meta operators like Mountain, Surtr, Silverash and Chen Alter since the beginning, and have a growing collection of meta 6 stars I've never used even once.
I've been going through some maps with a "not so meta" team, or one with some newer operators I got recently, and having a blast with it! It's kinda having to adapt your previous strategy and making something new. Sometimes its way harder than before, sometimes you got a new operator that just cheese the whole map (looking at you Kalt'sit on H10-3) I can see this mindset evolving into some nicheknights in the near future, who knows? xD Great video as always!
I underestimated thorns, i expected him to have global range and one shots everything instead what i got was only an operator who's slightly good, can't be further disappointed
A new video of your's always such a treat. I went through something similar a few weeks ago I think you (and Yii) just convinced me to try Vangardnights. Keep up the good work!!!
great video! in the decade that ive played gachas, i always wanted to get many male units and play w them. arknights was the only game i achieved that 🙃 i recently became a maleknights player since chestnut's release and it made me love ak even more. didnt realize til then that i got burnt out w my usual team. it was very interesting to hear the opinions of niche players ive been watching, and without them i wouldve been stuck with meta 😂
loved this video! i just started uploading maleknights clears on my channel because i didn't feel confident enough to showcase my strategies until recently. personally i didn't start playing nicheknights because of burnout, it was more of a natural transition from meta to male operators only since i usually play male characters in all my games. to me nicheknights is really fun because occasionally i get to feel smart and receive other people's praise for using their fav ops or ops that are generally underused. i do feel compelled to pull for all male operators but that doesn't stop me from buying meta ops like surtr or mudrock from the certs shop, i do like to brute force some stages from time to time. the section about optimisation truly resonated with me because i can spend 2 or 3 hours on the same stage trying to clear it with a specific squad, to the point that adding one more operator feels like cheating or taking the easy way out lol but some times you just gotta do what you gotta do. once it stops being fun just clear it in a more comfortable way and move on, that's my philosophy!
revisiting this video I realized I should probably loosen up my niche (as Furryknights kinda has nothing LMAO) so I decided on Columbiaknights; I get a couple more ops, actual snipers, and still get to use Mountain
Confession time. I farm 1-7, but I use LDPlayer and a macro to do it for me with no interaction from myself (and also saving my phone battery from turning molten).
I'm thinking about starting to play defenderknigths, with the exception of Rosa and blaze all my favourite ops are defenders (blemi, eunectes, mudrock, aurora, horn and in the future penance), and I have most of them but nian and eunectes, but man I don't know if I could handle the frustration.
Personally, I would much rather do lore-accurate runs with the operators I have at the time, though I never really go full niche because of anxiety reasons.
Lore accurate runs itself can be a Its own niche imo since you're clearing the stage using a specific and thematic team, similar to other nicheknights.
Tower defense is not my favorite genre. i almost drop the game 1 month after playing it. But after i completed chapter 8 i fell in love with the story. Now Im playing just for the story.
Ngl I used up 82 manganese as soon as I had it from stultifera navis, you really can go through that much material if you're trying hard enough lol. Also, if farming is boring and you're a pc player, I have macros set up, all the players should have the option. I'm not trying to defend your 1-7 friend, that sounds like hell, but if you do need to farm for something, it makes life a lot easier.
The fun thing about Nicheknights is that it doesn't need to be Super Strict! It's for fun, and if I want to use the other two units that come with Mudrock in IS2 at the beginning to get the defender run off the ground, I will!
If you want to consider niches with larger rosters that you can start building right now as a part of your story progress, there's Catknights, Birdknights, Maleknights and 5*knights.
NicheKnights is my way of life now. There is no turning back. Me and My 13 Aegir Operators (curently) doing our best (in my brain capacity) to play and enjoy the game challenge.
I've yet to reach burnout and I've been playing since granni's event release not rerun release, I am mostly F2P which kinda helps I guess, I do try and use every OP I have level
I often experience this after playing a gacha game (or any game for that matter) for a while. there are all these you *could* do but you stick to the same old meta stuff because that's the stuff you know will happen. that's the stuff that gets it over as fast as possible, it makes playing the game feel efficient. at the same time though, it also ruins the fun of the game, what made arknights stick for me when so many other games fell flat: not knowing how it will turn out. in the early to mid-game, the game brings out so many neat mechanics as you progress through the story or get a sneak pack through CC before getting clapped by the insanity monster, these things felt interesting, they forced you to play the game stage by stage, trying over and over till you have a good grasp of how it works. that's why it has sanity refunds and practise runs, to give you the freedom to try and test things till they worked, learning through that and ultimately pulling it off.
This is rather natural when you play a game long enough. I played The Division 2 since it's release, and now, I even go around saying that their "challenging" mode wasn't even challenging, I need to make my own "challenging" mode by doing dumb shit like pistols only + no cover and whatnot. Point is, most of veterans in a game will end up like this, running incredibly stupid experimental stuff just because they're bored. And who knows, maybe you'll find something nobody has ever even thought of in the process, and it may change the way the whole community think of something. A good example is Childe in Genshin Impact. At his launch, every theorycrafters run the math, and declared him as a failure. But one incredibly bored guy months later took him for a run in a role NOBODY has ever thought of, and it works really well. That discovery shoot him up from trash-tier to the top of the meta at the time, it was amazing. But yeah, in the end, it's all about whether you enjoy it or not. If doing dumb non-optimal shit doesn't really strike your fancy, then you probably should look at something else.
my niche was having crowd control, it was cool but rn i admit its quite op, having chalter for slow, gnosis freeze etc etc, even mostima who was weak and i loved her so much now she is strong af at least i can count with frostleaf who is max lv m3 will always be bad RIGHT?(look at her unreleased module)
Lee sucks? Bruh! Lee carries the boss stage in the Lingering Echoes event. I also got my revenge on the IS2 lost Colossus by using Lee, I made that Golem taste his own medicine.
I am new player i started the 9th of jan. by march i had gotten bored of the game. It was not particularly challenging I beat risk 18 cc10 within my first two weeks. That was single handedly the most fun i have ever had in arknights. The music the days of trying and failing. Swapping to get the right things for the strat i was trying. So about two weeks ago i decided to pick up a niche. The niche i chose was Children; anyone under the age of 17 is game. I wanted a niche that had operators i like and would not be so narrow that i feel like i had to bring x y or z. So far it has really zenned my gameplay out. I like the fact i have to pause and think everything through. Made me appreciate some of the meta opertors.
this video is not for me since I still need to do so many things...... since I haven't played for 2 years until recently starting CC#11 and trying to do EX on the side stories with clearing chapter 8 story mode... yeah there's a lot still for me to do..
I limit myself from the start. I don’t M3 a lot of units(i M6 Frostleaf, she’s still useless, i love her tho), and just leave most of my ops skill at M1 level 40. I also try to only bring 1 or 2 6 stars every stage(except for annihilation i don’t wanna waste my time for that), and only bring out the big guns like Silverash or Chalter if things just gets too frustrating.
I a while ago considered going like "Eunectes is my trashcan waifu of choice.. So why not SargonKnights" but I've never done more with it because it's a squad of expensive ops and 0 vanguards.. though I have considered expanding the horizon a bit, instead of just going for ops who's faction is Sargon, include ops who's birthplace is Sargon. And in that way. get access to at least one vanguard and see where that niche would go. Maybe one day when I'm done leveling what I 'want' for collection reasons
It's a bit late since the vid released, but I came across it and gotta say it feels nice seeing that there are more people playing not optimised and just thematic teams in this game. In an era of gaming where information is available everywhere and the mass is often going with what is said to be strongest options, it's a need in my opinion to find a way to enjoy the game still and not being shackled by anything. If you like steamrolling on every stages with the most broken comboes (and I know some friends who like that even in other non gacha games) why not ? If you like playing the specific waifu or husbando or first operator you got in every stage why not aswell ? Or any low op or level restricting conditions, etc... On my side I don't know how you can call it, trustknights player ? I basically half raise the ops I find interesting, so they can be strong enough to clear medium difficulty content while trustfarming without any other maxtrust operator I have; if the level is too much of a struggle, I switch 1 or 2... to finally take my serious team if things are getting too complicated. It permits me to try the new operators and like you said discover their own strengh without having to talk about opportunity cost. All of this doesn't prevent me from looking a bit at skillsets and general guidelines to raise the strongest units accordingly, but I just enjoy in the stages where it doesn't matter to have this glimpse of gameplay that is sometimes harder to make work, and most importantly different. And yes Whislash smile is a blessing
I've been tryng niche stuff but damn it's hard but once you've done it, it really feels like you've achieved something big. That's until you see everyone else has done it the exact same way you've done it/ better than you... yeah but it doesn't really matter is it?

and i realized, I HAD NO ONE WHO COULD ACTUALLY SURVIVE THIS BOSS' HITS.
as meh as this boss was usually, i genuinely did not have any dps ops who could kill him fast enough or survive his hits
last ditch effort i just put hung in the top left corner and left him there for like the entire stage.
that 100% attack for 1 second during skill activation artifact is so broken on hung, at least on this one circumstance
so there i was, finished with the stage, except for this STUPID BOSS. and the only dps that could reach the bastard was chiave's S2. so there i was. sitting there for 8 IRL minutes, waiting for chiave to recover his skill and inch off a few pixels of the boss' health

This makes me miss Hymnoi Wisdom I think it was with having to use ops I never used before to clear the early stages so I could use more stronger ops later on
I think that's when I first used Mint and a few others I never E1ed and was pleasantly surprised at how fun they were
Hope that returns or at least I can rewatch my previous run
Cool vid!
Honestly I would love to experiment with Nicheknights someday....but first Phantom needs to stop running from me...
Yep, deciding to play nicheknights alleviated my burnout...or that's what I would like to say because I to this day I haven't chosen a niche. Too many fun things to try out.
🙂
I'm geared enough for birdknights and lupo knights, might as well take dibs
I'm glad you're finally close to understand this game only has Medics, the only melee units are Mon3tr and Nightingale's phantoms and that Amiya has only one form and it's the medic form.
I wait for you on the other side of the MedicKnights's gates, brother.
up till today i always loved using my supporters and specialists.
Dorothy and magallan even now is still carrying me in the most funny way ever
Yeah... Maybe I have enough resources to fight whatever HG throws at me but I'm not sure I have enough brains for that
Me, a noob Dokutah
Me, fascinated by 3-stars ever since unlocking some of their records
Me, using 3-stars on everything (since they're easily maxed) to catch up to everyone, especially new events
3-StarKnights way before endgame :')
Sometimes its way harder than before, sometimes you got a new operator that just cheese the whole map (looking at you Kalt'sit on H10-3)
I can see this mindset evolving into some nicheknights in the near future, who knows? xD
Great video as always!
I underestimated thorns, i expected him to have global range and one shots everything instead what i got was only an operator who's slightly good, can't be further disappointed
You mean overestimate?
@@sayno8685 do i need to write /s

A new video of your's always such a treat. I went through something similar a few weeks ago I think you (and Yii) just convinced me to try Vangardnights. Keep up the good work!!!
great video! in the decade that ive played gachas, i always wanted to get many male units and play w them. arknights was the only game i achieved that 🙃 i recently became a maleknights player since chestnut's release and it made me love ak even more. didnt realize til then that i got burnt out w my usual team. it was very interesting to hear the opinions of niche players ive been watching, and without them i wouldve been stuck with meta 😂
Im on a penguin logistics knight if thats a thing lol
I like playing my Kazemierz team, been saving up to get Nearl Alter when she appears in Texas banner.
loved this video! i just started uploading maleknights clears on my channel because i didn't feel confident enough to showcase my strategies until recently. personally i didn't start playing nicheknights because of burnout, it was more of a natural transition from meta to male operators only since i usually play male characters in all my games. to me nicheknights is really fun because occasionally i get to feel smart and receive other people's praise for using their fav ops or ops that are generally underused. i do feel compelled to pull for all male operators but that doesn't stop me from buying meta ops like surtr or mudrock from the certs shop, i do like to brute force some stages from time to time. the section about optimisation truly resonated with me because i can spend 2 or 3 hours on the same stage trying to clear it with a specific squad, to the point that adding one more operator feels like cheating or taking the easy way out lol but some times you just gotta do what you gotta do. once it stops being fun just clear it in a more comfortable way and move on, that's my philosophy!
The first character I've planned to E2 in advance was "the auntie" to have her E2 artwork as "assistant" in the title screen.
revisiting this video I realized I should probably loosen up my niche (as Furryknights kinda has nothing LMAO) so I decided on Columbiaknights; I get a couple more ops, actual snipers, and still get to use Mountain
This inspired me to play gunknights
Does this mean I can remove the dust off my Tsukinogi?
Lore accurate runs itself can be a
Its own niche imo since you're clearing the stage using a specific and thematic team, similar to other nicheknights.
This sounds fun AF to pick up
Tower defense is not my favorite genre. i almost drop the game 1 month after playing it.
This is good content... Thumbs up to you...
Not gonna lie though this new event puts the major damper on my ability to just throw meta ops at it lollll
thats the best quote
amazing video. I *almost* want to try O/Dknights now, but Im sure that's not gonna end well lmao
The fun thing about Nicheknights is that it doesn't need to be Super Strict! It's for fun, and if I want to use the other two units that come with Mudrock in IS2 at the beginning to get the defender run off the ground, I will!
If I want to use Siege for Felines but she is not exactly a Feline I can because I make my rules!
I mean, you're right xD
Love your channel, wish you had more subs
Man I wanna get into nicheknights but I'm still leveling units to beat ch5-10. Nicheknights can come when I reach endgame
If you want to consider niches with larger rosters that you can start building right now as a part of your story progress, there's Catknights, Birdknights, Maleknights and 5*knights.
5:58 wait it's Fiametta not Flametta wtf have I been saying all this time???
NicheKnights is my way of life now. There is no turning back. Me and My 13 Aegir Operators (curently) doing our best (in my brain capacity) to play and enjoy the game challenge.
This video is great 👍
I've yet to reach burnout and I've been playing since granni's event release not rerun release, I am mostly F2P which kinda helps I guess, I do try and use every OP I have level
The burnout I feel is nonstop events.
farming 1-7 is just a way to say that you are farming orundum 20 from base
Great video!
Finding a certain niche is pretty challenging, but at the same time very fun!
The video title says it all.
Me an avid user of Feesh, Sneks, Gators and Bears. I use no one else.
Mr nothing is the best operator in the game
so true
If doing dumb non-optimal shit doesn't really strike your fancy, then you probably should look at something else.
my niche was having crowd control, it was cool but rn i admit its quite op, having chalter for slow, gnosis freeze etc etc, even mostima who was weak and i loved her so much now she is strong af
at least i can count with frostleaf who is max lv m3 will always be bad RIGHT?(look at her unreleased module)
I introduce you to trustknights, where you use whichever operator with trust below 200
yeah, it's just trust farm, lol
I also play niche-knights called male-knights. It's not that hard compared to other niche-knights but it's very fun too.
I don't feel the burnout, and maybe that's because i play with on of my friends. So like we can fangirl together and share strategies and all
specialknights lets gooo
Wish me luck on getting into shotaknight. Most of the units are kinda dogshit but i think i will manage somehow.
Lee sucks? Bruh! Lee carries the boss stage in the Lingering Echoes event. I also got my revenge on the IS2 lost Colossus by using Lee, I made that Golem taste his own medicine.
Good shit I'm more interested in story, than gameplay, so I will only burnout, when there is nothing to read left.
"So about two weeks ago i decided to pick up a niche. The niche i chose was Children; anyone under the age of 17 is game."
real gamer
this video is not for me since I still need to do so many things...... since I haven't played for 2 years until recently starting CC#11 and trying to do EX on the side stories with clearing chapter 8 story mode... yeah there's a lot still for me to do..
My niche is: "My account doesnt farm 1-7"
Crazy, I know.
This is quite neat video, like the topic yoy talked about, might help with my arknightsing expereince in the future
I always used operators I personally like. I am a waifu>meta player. Waifuknights letsgoooo
I've been tryng niche stuff but damn it's hard but once you've done it, it really feels like you've achieved something big.
That's until you see everyone else has done it the exact same way you've done it/ better than you... yeah but it doesn't really matter is it?
