+Jerry Pruitt what state is it that makes this distinction? Because where I'm at there is not distinction outside the minds of the people in the marketing end of a company.
My state, Mylicensesite.com uses the license term: SECURITY OFFICER. 👮🏽♂️👮🏻♀️🚓👍. I, among others say security guards too but to me, it's not a major problem. My ego & self esteem are not stressed over job titles 😁. I did have a ex cop, security mgr in the 1990s say; a "guard" is a security person in one place or only guarding one location. A security officer patrols, files reports, has multiple duties & works out of a office.
low pay, plenty of overtime, work every kind of shift, work every holiday, most of all NO appreciation by your employer for all the work you do. Employer expects you to do more and more. Easy to get hired, most of the time I walked into the office and was hired on the spot. HIGH turnover rate. LOTS of verbal abuse.
Don't know I'm in the United States of America it's $80 for a level 2 Security License 40 question test over stupid shit like what's the difference between a Class A , Class B , Class C , Class D , Class E . 🔥 Fire extinguisher hell if i know I'm a Security Guard not a Fireman there locked inside a glass case i won't be able to get to one anyway . Level 3 Security Armed Commission $300 and 48 class room hours at the Academy . You have to hold your level 3 license for 3 years before you can apply for a Level 4 Body Guard certification. All security licenses are good for 2 years before you have to re-test .
Hey Tommy, excellent video as always. I am an armed guard working for a private company, and looking to get into LE. I've heard that some agencies don't like to hire guards, have you experienced getting turned down by a department just for being a guard? The company I work for is not a large corporate one, more of a smaller private one...we have patrol vehicles, hand-to-hand training, taser + OC foam + firearms training, and even some bodyguard duty a few times a year
I'm looking into armed security while waiting for the hiring process for a LE agency once I graduate from the academy. Can you give a summary on the aspects of armed security?
Maccabee Luke 22:36 Basically, you observe and report any suspicious activity -usually you will fill out a "daily log" where you write down what areas you patroled, where you stood your post. As far as detaining a criminal, if I actually see the person commiting a crime, I can detain him and call authorities. If I didn't see the crime, it's out of my hands.. I also cannot use my gun, OC, or baton to get someone to comply, I can only use those tools if I am in danger of imminent injury or death
Will companies feel insulted if I tell them that I'm in the hiring process with law enforcement and wanted to make some money in the mean time while still being related to my career choice? I currently work security for the college who knows I'm in the academy. In fact they specifically hire academy recruits. But I'm also in the hiring process with a law enforcement agency and I was thinking that if it takes longer than I thought I can work for another security job.
I'll say this from my limited knowledge. If the company lacks guards, they would hire you with a time you need to stay with them for. OR they might add that you will have to compensate for whatever they provided to you for free if you leave early. For companies who are looking to fill long-term positions and aren't taking in contracts constantly, they will mind if your schedule is not stable for them. In that case they won't hire you. So in my opinion, if you're just going to earn some money at the moment, you just have to find a large security company with many contracts and they probably expect many of their candidates to treat them as a bus stop in their career journey. Since the hiring process can take almost a year, you would probably be able to fulfill their minimum period which is probably just going to be 6 months. In fact, depending on the size of the company, if they are expanding too fast, they might even promote you before you get your police job (if they think you're an asset). Of course, you can still leave them even if you're promoted.
Not much basically be smart about what you do, think before taking action and pick your battles. Don't be that security guard everybody knows and hate. Also expect to walk and stand ALOT.
Absolutely people don't like answering to authority being told what they can and can't do . Security work isn't that much different from being a Police Officer we deal with the same bullshit.
They should edit the video better that first view drinking hard and high his beverage is just UNPROFESSIONAL that i could not continue watching the rest of the video only because he has no credibility any more

Hey sir, I am a Security Enforcement Officer in Indiana. Am I legally allowed to freelance as a Security Guard? What steps do I take if so?
Freelance mean you need your own company essentially... Indiana will require a bunch of legal shit so you can "freelance".
I’m getting my perc card ! So excited!
perc 30?
@@luisgarcia1096 Yummmm getting some k9s later
Best video yet brother. I start working for a security contractor based out of Detroit in September. Maybe I'll run into you and Mr. Huscher some day, really appreciated the wise and motivating words.
+CapperT More to come man. This interview was over an hour cut down.
Hey guys what do you think of Champion National Security? I'm close to starting as non commission security.
Actually swing shift is the best shift to work.......grave yard shift sucks because you body knows it's not suppoise to be awake....at least with swings you can get "some" sleep vs Mids....where sometimes you get ZERO sleep.
There is a different in guard and officer, an officer is with rank and a guard is just a guard! Stand post to prevent access and and ofcr is more customer service type more a true professional style. Urding something is what is being done.
Any advice on putting together a resume for security?
Hey What about working security while you are are police officer off Duty to get extra money Would you still have to do all these steps?
+Mistr Fusion I could make that a separate video, but it is different state by state.
Well in your state
+Mistr Fusion I can literally just work as my own company. I have insurance and I can market myself as an independent contractor.

low pay, plenty of overtime, work every kind of shift, work every holiday, most of all NO appreciation by your employer for all the work you do. Employer expects you to do more and more. Easy to get hired, most of the time I walked into the office and was hired on the spot. HIGH turnover rate. LOTS of verbal abuse.
I want take security license course, to get my job security in Australia, what’s my best opportunity to do so?
I want to start with security coupled with some volunteering work. Do you think that will look good on my resume?
Love your videos! Keep it up

Can you name a good security company in Baltimore, MD? I 've 9 years of security work experience and a degree in criminal justice?
Just go to indeed
Im Pennsylvania is just the fingerprint
Do you think a private security company can specialize in LP ? Combine uniformed and undercover plain clothes

Not much basically be smart about what you do, think before taking action and pick your battles. Don't be that security guard everybody knows and hate. Also expect to walk and stand ALOT.

Being a cop are you generally met with a lot of hostility from people more so then positive encointers ?
Absolutely people don't like answering to authority being told what they can and can't do . Security work isn't that much different from being a Police Officer we deal with the same bullshit.
How to get most security jobs:
