I feel like I’ve gotten to know Randy in a small way and when he describes speakers it goes a long way in helping me whittle down potential options. These seem to be an excellent value! The midwoofer driver has a cast aluminum frame and the tweeter has a neodymium magnet. They use 2nd order crossover filters, and is crossed over at an interestingly low 1.65kHz. As mentioned, if you want a bass and/or treble bump, then tone controls will be very good for that.

How do these compare to the Polk TSI100s that reviewed so well against other sub-$300 bookshelf speakers (even the beloved Sony SS-CS5)? It would be helpful to keep some sort of speaker hierarchy, heat map or scatterplot for similar sized and price points.
I think the fact that these would need a subwoofer to complete the sound would be a big deciding factor between this pair and the mentioned Dali Spektor 1s. I’ve really enjoyed that pair especially because the woofer as mentioned is so good, that you don’t need a subwoofer at all. When you’re at a desk or in a den and listening to things like jazz or acoustic instrumental music, I think the differences in roll-off and detail really separate these from the Dali. That said, looks like this pair could definitely find a home somewhere else in my house. Seems like they would be a great upgrade from a pair of Moukeys I have.

Doesn't seem to be a bad little speaker but wish Neumi, as well as other manufacturers would space the binding posts a bit more apart. My Dali Opticons are small but the posts are spaced well apart. I have heard the Dali Spektor 1s and liked them at their price point. A warmish speaker if I remember that needed some additional power due to its lower sensitivity, which btw enhanced its bass response. Moving up to the Dali Oberon 1 added a large but similar sound but speech was more laid back, muffled during soundtrack with shows and movies. Still not bad but not as dynamic in response either as I would have liked. Moving up to Dali Opticon 1 MK1, it surprisingly does very well for both movies and music but has a flatter frequency response vs a more V curve. Opticon didn't obscure detail for a smoother, denser sound. As to the Neumi, as good as it may be, it would not be a match for the more expensive two speakers I mentioned, or the Cambridge Minx XL which I also have. The Minx XL is a bit more resolving than the Zetas but the Zetas have more detail and aire, separation although a bit more sibilant/glare also. The Opticons are better than the Minx XL in every respect and tradeoffs are there with te Zetas but is considered the most audiophile. All three are easy to drive and actually 88 dB or better in room. The Minx XL has a slight V curve, sort of middle of the road between the zetas and Opticons. I believe the Minx XL would beat out the Neumi, but it was $300 retail. The Zetas retailed for about $500 and the Opticon 1 MK1 at $800 when they came to market. Idk if it would just mess it up tbh... but a lot of speaker kits have some polyfill to be put in and once you do it sounds soo much bigger. I'm just not entirely sure how much of that is already part of the design with regards to frequency response and port measurements etc.
Quite possibly, yes. And probably a rib or ribs would reduce any cabinet resonances. Their cutaway image makes it look like there are metal core coils - replacing them with larger gauge air core would improve the bass quality, and possibly increase it a little bit in level, too.
Too much polyfil and the port output Dips.. if there's no polyfil in the speaker just like you said a handful bundle it up and put behind woofer so it can dampen the rear wave of the woofer so it doesn't reflect back into the woofers cone.. This will clean up the sound nicely to..

@@michaellutz5883 One day, I'll get them too. Even if just for fun, because I don't have a real usecase for them. Would you say they have any weakness? Would you say they are ok for EDM or Hiphop without a subwoofer? Does Denon not sell in the USA in general? That would be so sad. I recently learned that Panasonic TVs aren't sold in the USA. Equally sad.
@@allesdurchprobiert Wow ..many question at once. These are fun speakers, there's not so much intensity towards details. But no question, once connected you won't stop listening. Their major habitat is Rock/Grunge/Metal and HipHop too. I also own a pair of Denon SC F-107, which appear to me as if these reproduce more properly - but somehow don't come with this little extra punch the SC M-39 use to offer. U-shaped, not always a 100% on the dot, but there's no fatique in listening for me. Will keep 'em for a while.
Nice looking and love a silk dome, you wanna know a very good "affordable" bookshelf, and by good, they sound really good for the money, find an old set of dcm cx-07 models, you may think it's crazy, but great bass and quality, as they do use great woofers in nearly all their speakers, and the tweeter doesn't look so special, but it does a great job, and I will say, it'll run with the pack, and can be had for 50-100 bucks usually. Don't sleep on those for the money.
I have a pair of Micca RB42s in a small-room secondary system that are just okay. Would love to see a more in-depth comparison to these. Thanks for what you do.
Why don't you let us hear the output of the speakers you review? For me that would be extremely helpful as I am not as educated as you regarding crossovers, frequency response, etc. I just know what sounds good to my ear.
To power your Fosi, do you use a higher grade power cable from usb-a to usb-mini b? I found one with silver plating and hope it pushes up the performance. Keep on rockin’ it!
i think it's important to mention that quality hifi shouldn't be expensive when it's a question of objective performance. Price become higher when there are subjective aspects getting involved into the product as the brand, the design, the prestige, the direct or indirect distribution etc... It's nice by the way to confirm some brands are working on offering both performance and low price.
I liked reviews of cheap dacs, preamps, amps and headphones but not cheap speakers. I have bookshelf speakers and subs but they don't compare to speakers with BIG woofers. Even my 4 foot towers with dual 6 1/2" woofers don't make effortless natural bass like 15" woofer speakers. Based on my experience, I can't imagine the S400 sounds as good as the L100.
Tiny well I need help something Tiny too. I have a height limitation of 74cms for speakers. Could you please suggest speakers that I can fit in there. It was a new house interior goofup that cannot be undone. I want to get some floor stander but just cannot find such short floor standers. Book shelf + custom short stands, I am just not able to picturize. My current speakers are Castle Pembroke which by the stroke of luck, JUST fit. So I have a system running, however, I wish to upgrade. HELP!!

U-shaped, not always a 100% on the dot, but there's no fatique in listening for me. Will keep 'em for a while.
@@michaellutz5883 Thanks! Sounds nice to me. I'll just get em used for 60€ or so and see for myself. Can't go wrong I'm sure!
According to the frequency response Dali should have much more bass!
@cheap_audioman6, that is to say: ?
@@blue_blue-1 it's a scam
I have a pair of Micca RB42s in a small-room secondary system that are just okay. Would love to see a more in-depth comparison to these.
Thanks for what you do.
Are they better than Emteeva
Why don't you let us hear the output of the speakers you review? For me that would be extremely helpful as I am not as educated as you regarding crossovers, frequency response, etc. I just know what sounds good to my ear.
Great website to check measurements is to visit audio science review.. great detailed write-ups as well..
To power your Fosi, do you use a higher grade power cable from usb-a to usb-mini b?
I found one with silver plating and hope it pushes up the performance.
Keep on rockin’ it!
Whoops, I was talking about the streamer instead of the Fosi that uses an AC adaptor.
Don't settle for anything less than pure diamond cables.
Love to see this form factor. Another comparison would be the PSB Alpha P3's.
I like your work; "Brushed steel" on the wrap.
So tell us; what brand of denim shirt is that???
i think it's important to mention that quality hifi shouldn't be expensive when it's a question of objective performance. Price become higher when there are subjective aspects getting involved into the product as the brand, the design, the prestige, the direct or indirect distribution etc... It's nice by the way to confirm some brands are working on offering both performance and low price.
You can get the ELAC 4.1 for under a hundo...I got mine for $88 on Amazon on sale. Not sure they can be beat for the price...
First, love your channel... ok ill watch the rest now
Are they shipped via High Altitude Balloon? 🔈🔉🔊
Reminds me of the Silverline Minuet from 10(?) years ago -- for a fraction of the price
That chip in the left lens of your glasses would aggravate me to no end on my glasses.
The size reminds me about ALR Jordan Entry S
Hell yeah randy!
HELP!!
I would like some equitment reviews from Audioegnine
Hey Randy! They looks like the Loonpo LP42 did you ever reviewed them?
I wonder if this is the first in a new line. Unless I missed it, it's the only "silk" model I saw from Neumi.
I wonder how it compares to the RSL CG3M.
You're suggesting that this speaker is neutral, so are you saying that it's a redo of the NHT superzero or the Yamaha NS10?
@cheapaudioman What happened to cheap watch man I miss those videos
To get the artist sound you'd need the amp + speakers / headphones used, pretty sure why any "audiophile" argument will ALWAYS fail?
Pls review new Mission LX-2 MKII
Rough night cheap?
Best value equals maganapan
Hi Randy
Sorry if i spell your name wrong
Can you please consider giving your thoughts on Mission QX and Definitive technology Demand series
i think you will like them 👍
I found my dad’s old Panasonic speakers from a Microsystem and I need a better receiver
For normal music or TV, get floor speakers, for a PC get Headphones, not sure what use bookshelf speakers are good for :/
We use bookshelf speakers on a PC when we don't want to use headphones. Also as home theatre rear speakers.
Yeah there are many who just do not like headphones.
@@toby9999 ok yea forgot about rear speakers.. I even have that 😅
@@solomonstewart1025 ok sure, to me it'd just that for speakers as good as headphones you often need to 5x to 10x the price for same quality
Why do you always have to touch the drivers with your greasy fingers?
Don't use codes bs on your speakers
What?
which speakers are you using with the Tyr mono-blocks?
Is he suggesting he had two Tyr’s and hooked them up to these little things?
This was such a great video! It would be amazing if you watched our NEWEST video and let us know what you think!
But can they beat my 1985 Boston Acoustics A40V's?
