- Our good friends @martinsolhaugen & @avelovinit threw an Epic Filipino Style Birthday surprise for Martin's 26th Birthday. We drove up to north Siargao to do a bit of celebrating on the beach with traditional Filipino games and happy friends all around us.
Martin had NO idea what Ave had planned and apparently this party was all part of a month long trick that she had used to keep him unaware that we were all gathering together to sing happy birthday.
We all gathered at the Coconut Nut on Alegria Beach and ended the day with an evening swim in the sea.
Then we checked into DaRosa Del Mar for a sleep before discovering more of the hidden beauty of Siargao on a new beach.

This is the start of our story. Our 'New Normal' and new future. We are moving to the Philippines for a new start and this is day 11 of our Philippines Daily Vlog which will document what life is like for a British Family trying to work out life in this very exotic and beautiful country.
Our names are Jmayel, Sacha & Story. We traveled to Siargao island with Jmayel's mum & Story's grandma just before the Global pandemic that sent the whole planet into quarantine. We got stranded for over 3 months and fell in love with island life, now we want to make that life more permanent.

I have been worried on how story will react seeing a lechon being raised a vegetarian. I know that one day she will eventually see it since its part of the Filipino culture. I am impressed of her reaction and acceptance of the culture like a mature person. Good parenting

I'd say this is one of my favorite vlogs because I saw how much fun the whole family is having. Martin's birthday is epic and surrounded by friends that he has truly bonded in Siargao. Ave really outdid herself.

This i know will be Martin's Happiest Birthday spent on the island they love and with great company which he will forever cherish. i was glad you carefully explained to Story why they were butchering and roasting the lechon as part of the Filipino culture, knowing her love for pigs too...everyone was so happy and enjoyed Martin's surprise bday party, with Filipino games which y'all enjoyed esp Story, and seeing Story jumping with joy and hugging her Kuya Martin! "Darosa Del Mar". glad to see you enjoy some Filipino games but there's one game which is so fun the "Palayok Game" the game is played with the decorated clay pot filled with goodies (candies, sweets, coins, and sometimes peso bills), suspended by string in the air, high enough for players to reach it and someone is blind folded holding a stick he/she will try to hit it as best as he/she can.
