Such a great talk. I love the way John is able to explain what Dallas said. It has been said Ortberg is Dallas for Dummies. I think that is a great compliment. After I listen to John, I can go back and read Dallas and get so much more out of it.
Well done synopsis of Dallas Willard's wonderful teaching on the Kingdom of God, with your own personality John. I am glad there are people that feel it is part of their duty to translate Dallas for the layperson. I have been writing since I first read Dallas 3 years ago for the same reason.
This is excellent teaching and I am so grateful it has been made available here. I'm wondering where I go from here for session 2. If anyone can direct me I'd be grateful!
What about the Kingdom to come, Thy Will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. What about the Resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous. What about Revelation 22. To many scriptures not accounted for.
It’s the same kingdom. There is not a kingdom coming that is different from the kingdom that exists now. Gods kingdom has always existed. It will never cease to exist. It’s playing out over time (as we understand and are bound by time). Jesus demonstrated what the Resurrection is and looks like. He’s the first, or first born from the dead. We get that too as we live in and are part of and partake in the Kingdom. It will happen. Don’t get hung up on timing. God had the timing all worked out.
John mentioned it in this talk. Jesus didn’t come and declare “there is a kingdom of God.” The Jewish people knew that. Everyone agreed there was a kingdom of God. What Jesus came to announce or declare is that it’s available to everyone. You can have it if you want it.
Dan Lutjemeier your comments reveal that you don't actually know much about the Bible and probably have never read it. you've just picked up Hitchenesque sound bites and parrot them.
Absolutely amazing ✨️✨️🙌🏼❤ Thank you so much, John!!❤❤

Jesus never called us Christians, but BELIEVERS, KINGDOM CITIZENS, SAINTS, SONS . The word Christian came from the pagans.

Its a lecture. If you look at all the lectures and books you will find more scriptures.

Game of Thrones?
Bronze Age folklore left town with Santa and the Easter Bunny. Grow up already!
