    These videos are very cool. We fish for swordfish recreationally off the coast of South Florida in 1800feet of depth using a rod and Lindgren pitman reels.

      Thanks mate, we are doing very well in New Zealand with daylight drops for swordfish but the unwritten rule in New Zealand is man up and use standard reels not electric.

      350-600 meters is the target depth around the seamounts and canyons

    Gotta say I love watching this shit as a keen fisho always interested in how the pros do things , so I subscribed keep filming
    You’ve got a good narrator’s voice too might be the bloody kiwi accent
    Just a note for you I fish out of Robe SA water temp this summer has been around 13-15 degrees c ,I think the fish are frozen

    Worked sport fishing and commercial fishing boats off the pacific coast of California, had melanoma twice so wear your sun protection!

      Definitely, a lot of the older fishermen I know are getting bits cut off them by the surgeon including myself after decades at sea. It takes its toll

    Your vessel looks way bigger at the dock, than it does offshore. Do you take on ice in port, or chill the catch with onboard equipment ? What kind of depth / contour / structure are you fishing in the Coral Sea ?

      We have 2 ice makers onboard the vessel. When targeting pelagic species it's more about the surface meteorological conditions and where the bait is congregating.

    You are in the Coral Sea? The Coral Sea? My Grandfather was a NAVY divebomber and help sink a serious # of japanese ships there....

      Yes been fishing up there for about 5 years now. The Pacific war effort has always interested me and I often look at the plotter and how close Guadalcanal and the sea battles in world war 2 were to Australia

      He flew and fought at the Battle of the Coral Sea, Guadalcanla, Midway, Tualgi,,,,that I can remember. He was stationed abord the Yorktown which is on the bottom of the ocean around there I think.
      So are the fishing stocks good? We fish in the GULF OF MEXICO (non commercial) and the RED SNAPPER catch is off the charts even after the oil spill.@@tkoffshorefishing

      Wow,Yorktown was in the thick of it for sure. Very healthy fish stocks down here, we fish under strict quota's and look after the fishery.

    Could u in a future vid show the boys actually baiting an clipping the hook lines on etc ? An what happens when u get to the end of a shot as in is it the end of the line on the reel or does the boat stay attached and drift with the line??

      Fairly certain it's all quota. TK usually very vocal about how sustainable and certified the fishery is.

    What is the breaking strength of your mainline? How about your branch lines?

      We don't go by breaking strain but diameter size. Mainline is 3.5mm mono and leaders are 1.8mm
