Shindong’s creativity and understanding of key points in the performance as an idol himself, as well as understanding the unique charms of each member, partnered with the insane professionalism and stage presence of Exo is just 👩🍳💋. SM should really utilize Shindong’s talents more!!! All groups would benefit from his work.

This was the first of its kind, its an official thing that was made by editors hired by sm to be specifically made this way that's why its in EXO's official channel but you can see both performances separate as well (super junior member Shindong directed it as well btw). EXO creates the trends and the rest follow, btw X-EXO is a real EXO concept & lore of theirs its their "alter ego" or clones however you wish to see it as. They've always been there since the beginning but only showed themselves "physically" during Obsession era (EXO literally had some crazy battles w/their other selves & involved EXO-Ls in the fun 😂) you'd have to dig deep into their lore in order to understand it. The entire concept for Obsession still has me messed up as an EXO-L. It was like you had to choose EXO or X-EXO and they'd get on your case who are you standing with... but X-EXO they look so good OMG. Me being greedy I took both, clothed and nekked. They put a lot of work into those 2 stages and they should be watched individually. The EXO and the 2 X-EXO versions are exceptional. Great reaction.

What is so remarkable about those performances is that Chen was so sick in both of them and still delivered a great show. As per usual with EXO. It's the B sides. In particular on the Obsession Album. They are a group that releases an album not a couple of good songs and fillers. Without MV just the lyric-coded videos hold your attention. Xuimin was in the military with D.O. but i think this was the album he loved the most. E*XO has everything I like and expect from a very good music. E*XO dances very well and skillfully. E*XO has meaningful and beautiful music. E*XO has the best and most important characteristic of a singer group, which is the ability to sing. E*XO has the 8 best singers in K*orea. The 8 best vocalists in the history of K*pop. 8 vocalists and rappers. That means all the members can rap in addition to vocals. The power of the notes and the magical voice of E*XO members is not in any group. When they start singing, I am with myself. I say, are they really normal people? How can they sing so well and powerfully? It's as if they are extraterrestrial with a voice that comes from heaven. E*XO can perform live music in such a way that you scream with excitement and surprise. This is NOT a fanmade video or created by a TV network. This video was professionally created to have transitions like this by a video production company and paid for by SM Entertaiment. (If you notice, this video is on EXO's official UA-cam channel, so it's owned by SM.) This video was the first of its kind at the time, and I think it's where the idea for "stage mix" videos got started. The video was created to show EXO, the good guys in all black, battling X-EXO, their alter ego clones in the bright colors with the crazy hair and makeup. They were showing you their story just like you saw it happening in the MV. If you can keep people talking about the song and album and get them excited about all the promotional activities, it's most likely going to make people want to buy the album or purchase the song on streaming sites, so everything a Kpop group does is designed to be a marketing tool to sell more products. And, in case you were wondering, the audience isn't just reacting to the performance. What you heard the audience doing is called fan chants. Fan chants are orchestrated things that fans say during specific moments in live performances. Sometimes fan chants are designed by fandoms and they are distributed through the network of fandoms so that everyone learns them and knows what to do, and other times they are designed by the Kpop group's company and given to the fandoms to distribute and make sure everyone knows the chant. Almost every song that is a main track song that the group promotes will have a specific fan chant that goes with it. So not only will the audience be reciting specific lyrics during the performance, but what you also heard was during the dance break the fans were shouting each of the members' names. Even the moments when the fans scream or cheer are often done at specific times and for an exact length of time as part of the fan chant. And in live recordings, the production crew makes sure the fans are ready to recite the fan chant and they even cue them up -- the fans become part of the performance. You will hear the audience doing the exact same fan chant every time EXO performs "Obsession."
