4th Generation is correct for the "current" Roscoe. The Roscoe was sold under the Gary Fisher label as a 140mm full-suspension 26" rig for 2009 and 2010 before being replaced by the 29er Rumblefish. That 26er Roscoe was sweet while it lasted.
To say the previous bike was more playful makes it clear you have not ridden the new one. They are vastly different bikes an the old Roscoe was not quite playful in its own right. Good bike, but not playful.
@@Jamesthebikeguy The new frame etc, makes it better than last model. 27+ on that frame, would make it even better. Other who have tested it, complains about nervous wheels in high speed. And yes I tested it today, and still wish they were 27+ 😁😁

For another 700 you can get a stumpjumper with 35 fork and full squish, makes buying a 30lb 2 Grand hardtail harder. 1500 or so is the sweet spot for a trail hardtail unfortunately pushed out by the COVID supply chain issues
Completely agree! $2000 for this? Pre Covid I bought a stumpy and it was decked out all shimano slx components and a rhythm fork! These companies are making ppl think they are really getting their moneys worth these days. This bike should be no more than $1300. Def not $2000
@@Chris-de2qc sooo yeah, you're really proving my point. full suspension is significantly more complicated than a hardtail. Hardtail designs have barely evolved compared to FS. Even just factoring in engineering costs to design the suspension. So for a hardtail to even reach full suspension prices it should be rocking fox suspension at least. Sx and deore are actually closer in price than maybe you think so that actually doesn't count. They are both entry level components despite deore being a smoother drivetrain. A Gx derailleur is like 100$. The suspension is not that far off either. So you'd actually be making a poor decision to buy this over the entry level stumpy, which can be easily upgraded over time to be as capable as any trail bike currently made.
@@hippiebits2071 the point was that the price is kind of a ripoff for what you get. It's not about everyone wanting or needing a FS. Rocky mountain growler for 1400$ right now on sale, now that's what hardtails should be priced at

I don't want to say your bike is bad, because it isn't, but the Marlin is a cross country bike. It's not comparable to this. The Roscoe has 40% longer travel, beefier brakes, better drivetrain, no front derailleur, dropper post, a much wider handlebar, tubeless tires, and it's lighter. Same boat here, same age too haha.... Haven't owned a bike since a teen and was kinda set on the new Marlin 8 before nerding on the specs and checking out the Roscoe linup. From the majority of reviews and comments on many many videos, the consensus seem to be that for the money the Marlin 8 should have some more modern upgrades that are basically all found in the new Roscoe 7. Better (more modern) frame, thru axels front and rear, tapered head tube, dropper post, better crankset and bottom bracket, etc. I think I'll likely just go this route (Roscoe 7) and have maybe too much bike for my needs and skill vs. buying inferior parts that I may need to upgrade and some of which are not possible with the Marlin frame and wheel set.
