To mhand43, yeah man your right. Ive watched a 1000+ people rock to this in 1987 in a small club in northern england, its now 2012 and iam gonna be playing this very soon in Calgary Canada. We all know what the result will be..... smiles, sweat, and groooooving feet on the dance floor. Respect to all the Detroit musicians for making my life a happy one.
this hits so many levels , it evokes tears, tears of joy. Tip of the high hats to Juan Atkins who is standout genius , brought timeless classics that I will never tire off, thanks 4 that, thank u youtube for facilliatating so much beauty n truth
This is political and complex on so many levels. "But songs like ‚Off the Battle‘ were aimed as much at rival cottage industrialists as against the larger powers - the track was ‚a battle cry, to keep the standards high‘ says Atkins, adressed to ‚amateur electronic artists‘“ (Simon Reynolds: Generation Ecstasy: Into the World of Techno and Rave Culture, p.20)
Kraftwerk originated in Düsseldorf, Germany! also the initial electronic "technopop" music came from kraftwerk! also othe act such as YMO and moroder! derrick mays influences include depeche mode too! (i know that model 500 is juan atkins) but i think i can fairly say that, you are very wrong!!
acid and techno went hand in hand, although acid was born in chicago with artists such as pierre, techno originated in europe with artists such as kraftwerk etc but techno as we know it, the funkier, dance stuff like this, came from detroit, as was said not much difference but you can tell them apart, like 201118138347 said, the 303, which was meant for guitars was actually used to produce the acid sound albeit by accident, it was was the start of a revolution literally.
I think scottish wanted to write "Techno originate Detroit" but he didn't read before posting, so that conversation became what it is ^^ but whatever, music wins

This came out in late 1986 early 1987 ...To listen to it now and realize that" to me" it still kills a lot of the projects out here today
Spring of '87.
This never gets old! Brings back memories of when it was fun to party in Detroit!
How do you explain Model 500 - its jazz mixed with technology - thinking mans music - contemplation meets leisure - I love this ....
Derek May described Detroit techno as George Clinton stuck in an elevator with Kraftwerk 🙂
This music was used in a car commercial in Detroit. That is how I first heard it. I already had the 12" single 'No UFO's/Future :)

Weird i have a different version of this track on the 20 years of Metroplex double album.
there is a different version on the model 500 classics album i have on vinyl on R & S records ..maybe that version shrugs.
The other version is trash compared to the original
Techno is more funky than acid.
That's a very broad statement and not very accurate. It all depends. That's all I'm saying.
whats the difference between techno and acid house
@ScottishCaledonian Did you really need me to remind you of what you said again? Really? Whatever, you're pissed,
the music Tempo. House is more slow.
@scottish, kraftwerk did not originate in Detroit, @bumpy, kraftwerk is not techno.

Huh?
