Here's a question: will there be cross-play/matchmaking? A lot of games seem to survive longer if you can play with your friends or be matchmade into groups with other consoles and systems. Otherwise, you're stuck in a pool of only your own console players or perhaps stuck doing LFG to find racers.
The whole marketing reminds me of when I bought Hot Wheels Unleashed, after buying the base game the dlc passes had to be purchased separately. This game seems amazing can’t wait to pla y
2k always has a version that’s like 100+ dollars. They prob think that people will buy it on impulse, like their nba games, but it’s drive’s first game
@@atomicniko92 Its like Lego Racers I think. where you can use pre made veichles or build your own. It would be cool if you could exit your car like I used to do in Lego Racers 2 by destroying my car and just run around exploring the map.
Many thoughts. I actually think the artstyle and the car mechanics look cool. The little areas we have seen look to be decently big. I think the car customization will give way to some creative versions. But asking for $70 base and going up to $120 is honestly scummy. Based solely on what we have seen this looks like a $40 game max. I think the extra monetization is also kinda weird given they are labeled as individual seasons. And there is no way, at the moment, to get other people's cars like a code or something. I don't know how this ends up being super profitable for them with that high entry point.
@@SkippKatt I wasn't a lego fan when I was young! Im 21 now but it surprises me that a game like this might interest me in the future! Maybe once all my 120 games are finished lol! I have a lot on queue!
Well reason why I that it kinda almost looks like a Lego racing game version of the Cars films is because of like how for example, that the announcers, I was going to are kinda almost like Darrell Cartrip, Bob Cutles, Brent Mustangbergur, Natalie Certain, the villain, kind almost like a futuristic combination like version of both Chick Hicks and Jackson Storm, and the area, kind almost like Ratiator Springs, Thomasville, and elsewhere
I’m really excited to play LEGO 2K Drive. The game itself really takes elements from the Forza Horizon series and the transforming mechanics came from Sonic and Sega all Stars Racing Transformed. I really hope that the game will be offline mode. There are some games that require Internet connection to play. The question is that how much is the seasonal content? We’re find out for sure.
Just let the game go on sale. Lego games go on sale alot, I waited for Lego Skywalker to go on sale. I got it for about 30 bucks, im gonna do that for this!
This sounds like a perfect shake up to the Lego games formula and track record (pun intended), but $60 is a steep price for a game that's also offering a Season Pass and undoubtedly microtransactions on top of that. Especially comparing to other racing games like Hot Wheels Unleashed which is only $30-40 on all platforms with DLC added regularly. Or a much better example: Team Sonic Racing, which is only $30 and has no microtransactions and is available on all the same platforms as this game will be. It sounds fun, but it just feels greedy on Lego's part with pricing it so high and I'm not sure at that price it'll be worth it...
The pricing for this is definitely comparable to Hot wheels imo. At launch Hot Wheels had a $90 edition which only covered the first 2 seasons of DLC, when the 3rd and final season arrived it was $30 individually. There was also the limited time racing seasons at $6 each and even if you paid, you only had a set time to unlock the content and if you didn't, it's now gone forever. Milestone then dropped the game like a hot rock when the last dlc released and release the GOTY edition with the season pass content for a fraction of the price. A bit of a kick in the teeth for early adopters honestly. The lesson here is probably give it a year, then pick up LEGO 2K Drive with all the extra content for a fraction of the price.
I think this guy got it a bit wrong they are selling dlc, not so much a stupid season pass/battle pass like say in fortnite which is not content but Just cosmetics.
You have to include the possibility of massive customisation, an open world and after a few months even more biomes and maps. This game in its core with all its collectibles, side missions and exploring aspect is way bigger than team sonic racing. And while Hot Wheels has the track customisation, LEGO has something that more players want, and that is creating or customising their very own vehicle.
Priced themselves out of a day one buy, I'll wait till hti hits 50 percent off, if that. I was thinking about getting it, but not at this price. You want this level of breaking stuff and this kind of price tag? Ya best pull off something like MOTORSTORM making a comeback. Another video says that Mario Kart has competition. The gull... just... the gull....And at this price. I'll tell you why it's priced this high, because the price tag is going to tank in three months after it's launch, if that. Wait and remind companies like this that we're not still buying at these price points unless it's exactly what we want, like MotorStorm.
The information is still super limited because we dont know alot about this game still. How long is the main story? How many parts are there for character customization? How many parts for vehicle creation? How many bricks are we limited to per vehicle? How many game modes are there? How many pre fab vehicles are there? Are pre fab vehicles paid DLC?
Smells like Forza Horizon but in Lego. Not sure if I like it, but hell, if it has split screen, I'm sold. I just hope the drifting physics will be good - bad drifting absolutely killed Hot Wheels Unleashed for me.
does anyone know if the awesome rivals edition has a physical version as well, or just the digital? cuz I've tried pre ordering the awesome rivals edition and it says it's only digital
So I wonder, if we can build our own cars, what’s the point of buying dlc cars? Or any of the other car in general? Unless the brick pieces used in the build are locked until you acquire that vehicle
I assume that you can’t use custom cars in online multiplayer due to concerns of people making obscene car designs, so, if you want those particular designs when playing online, you have to pay. It does make DLC cars pretty pointless in singleplayer and split screen multiplayer, though.
Well, with my history with 2k games, I am going to wait until my birthday and get this over black Friday hopefully through lego shop at home and hopefully by then the game is at a discount of say 20 to 30% off because $60 is a bit high for a lego video game even if it is coming from 2k now if it was a wwe game from 2k which I am familiar with I would jump on this day 1 but I have 5 dlc packs and like 20 patch updates I need to fit on my wwe 2k23 so lego 2k drive is definitely not a day 1 buy for me but is a definite want in the future.
Graphicly it doesn't look as good as the Forza 4 lego expansion, I really Hope I'm wrong about that. With that being said it still looks great and this is a day one purchase for me on the Series X or PS5, can't wait.
