This is nice, but for me, I just take off the waistband completely and replace it with an elastic band or make another waistband using a similar fabric. Weldone 👍

Could that be done with a skirt that has a zipper though? You’d be cutting into the zipper as the zipper is attacked to the waistband and the skirt.
Unpick and remove the zip, add elastic, sew up the gap. @@faithily
It's easier to remove the high waistband completely ,it would give you the extra room to fit around the waist 😊

Im dismantling my wedding dress to add to a skirt I love very much and make a quilt from the rest of my dress and his wedding outfit too. I've gained some weight and now the skirt doesn't fit 😢 but this helped so much, wish me luck lol

My daughter purchased me a lovely, very pleated skirt from Zara. The waist is to tight , and fits me at a funny point on my waist. It was so sweet of my daughter that I didn't say anything. Now , I don't have to. I can take what you just taught us and fix it!!

Another idea is to cut off the waist band then small amount down as the skirt has sunray pleats it can be ajusted to new size, use an amount of the inside of fabric from waistband to increase it then replace it on the inside only .

Another way that it can be done is to sew in a stretchy corset style closure that tapers over the zipper portion. It can be removed easily without damaging the material.

I what you done. But I probably would have tried to but some pleats with the same material and then put the elastic in waistband.
Waistbands are often a double layer of fabric. So could you perhaps also take a bit of fabric from the inside of the waistband, replacing it with a spare piece of similar fabric, then use the bit you've cut from the inside of the waistband to disguise the extra bit of elastic? (Disclaimer - I don't know if this would work: I'm watching the videos to try to learn how to to sew and do repairs!)

U should cut the waist fabrics in half , cause the waist fabrics was fold into the black stretch band . Use the other half fabric cut them into that triangle piece to sew it in the side to fit .
Or u can use the other half fabric cut into triangle shape piece to fit the waist line to sew it in .

Now you have this weird black triangle on your hip? And because the waistband is so beautiful you are now limited to not showing it. This eliminates wearing a tucked in shirt. My rule of thumb when wearing a micro pleated skirt is to have a more fitted top, otherwise your look is off balance. I see they do it a lot on Pinterest with the pleated skirt and it still looks very off balance not elegant more casual boho. Sorry darling I think I'll skip this one but it is a good concept for other garments.

Evidemment, il faudrait mettre un pull, etc, assez long pour le couvrir. Mais je veux bien le faire - ayant la ceinture souvent un peu serrée, je n'ai jamais envie de rentrer mon pull dans ma jupe 🙂

Oh no, I'm not keen on this result at all. IF you want to do the wedge inserts, I'd do half the size x 2 that might look like part of the design. Failing that, I'd make a new waistband from black satin, which I'd prefer.

I’d say use the same or very similar fabric for the pants for a neater finish

Normally I love your videos. But this alteration is so clearly visible, it doesn't feel to me like a real solution. I'd be so embarrassed to wear a skirt that looked like this.

Agreed! If is a skirt that I will never plan to wear it with a crop top or a tuck it top, I might pass in this kind of alterations.
She a did it kinda quick & dirty here, but if you took a lot of time to make sure the triangle of elastic followed the line of the waist band, and found a strip of the same fabric to cover the different color & texture, this would 100% work if you wear shorter tops… or you could take out the zipper and mirror the elastic on the other side so it looked like a design choice… this is an excellent basic waist alteration! Adjust it however you want. 😊
