Also, yea she’s pretty connected to the lyrics she writes. Tiger JK definitely saw enough in her when he signed her to give her as much time as she needs to write the record she wants to write. It helps that Tiger JK is one of THE OG popular mainstream rappers in Korea from first gen and he knows sometimes you need time to process your life to get what you need to write about down. His wife and he are both amazing, artistry-wise, and his rapping is intense while his wife’s rapping is often either introspective or savage. I bought both of the debut albums they were a part of when they first were released and Drunken Tiger (Tiger JK’s first CD with his then rapping partner) is just engrained into my memories as a Korean American being raised near Los Angeles in the 80’s and 90’s. BIBI’s English lyrics are written in such a way that you’d think she is a native speaker though I believe she’s been working hard on her English recently (at least from what I’ve heard through people in the industry), though I’m sure Tiger JK might give her input and coaching since he was born and raised in Los Angeles.

Life is a B is one of my favourites MVs ever. It’s hard to get it at first, but the story is truly heartbreaking and powerful at the same time. Running is basically a metaphor for the rat race that everybody in the society takes part in. It starts in high school - Bibi is wearing a school uniform, then as the MV goes, she grows up, but is still in motion, constantly running, trying to catch up with social expectations. Bleeding and falling is the visual representation of all the hardships she goes through. In the scene with the goddess, she tells her that she can’t take it anymore and asks her why life is so damn difficult. The deity just tells her that well, life is a bitch… the most powerful moment in my opinion is when she falls down for the last time, as a homeless person at this point. She finally stops running. She doesn’t have to run anymore, as she is not considered a significant member of the society. She doesn’t have to follow social expectations - and that’s the first time she smiles throughout the MV. She’s finally free. I cried when I finally got it. Such a creative way of telling the story so many people can relate to. Overall a great social commentary with a melody that stucks with you for a long time. She also wrote this song while being depressed and facing difficulties in her personal life, so the convesation between her and the goddess is really raw. You can truly feel her real emotions. I love Bibi, there is nobody like her.

Her smile at the very end is amazing and I think it expresses a range of conflicting emotions very effectively, but I think it’s more of a representation of what she’s feeling rather than a part of the narrative.
