Nice to see jerome miles from the hyperactive team The guy who competed as red devil, gnome and others And compete with dragon king in this is fighting robots
5:27 215 miles per hour?? 😂 I love how almost everyone lied about their stats in Robot Wars. The only ones I remember not lying, were Razer, Hypnodisc, and Chaos 2. Their robots were impressive all on their own, they just read off the specs, didn't try to hype it up "Hypnodisc spins at over 200mph" they knew just what they were capable of.
I don’t think you realize, it’s an American bot, which judging by the fact that nightmare was running 300mph in 1999, hyperactives weapon doesn’t seem far fetched And judging by how hard that hit was, it was definitely 215mph
@@Leatherface123. Hypnodisc had a max tip speed of 80mph - that bot was NOT spinning 2½ times faster than Hypnodisc. Biteforce only spins at 168mph, and in no world can you possibly believe this robot was spinning faster and hitting harder than Biteforce.
@@Frosty_tha_SnowmanNot that I’m necessarily agreeing or disagreeing with your original point, but 250mph is a limit that BattleBots themselves have enforced. Most weapons are capable of a good chunk more speed afaik
@@CaptainMantine I am well aware of that.. but it doesn't change the fact that these older bots weren't even close to hitting that speed.... if they were, there would be hits like we see in modern Battlebots - and there's nothing even close. Not to mention, the fact the armor back then was basically tin foil
Short answer: Hypnodisc happened, and people sought out alternatives to the vulnerable disc mount and chain drives. Vertical spinners were seen as the evolution of the horizontal spinner, and had some serious advantages to consider. With a face mount, they can attack wedges and scoops head-on due to the very low attack angle. Wedge-top drums lift and throw victims, adding impact shock from gravity onto already devastating kinetic attacks. They were also easier to control than horizontal spinners. Hypnodisc and Carbide often got flung off to the side after impact, but verticals are pushed downward, so it's the enemy that gets tossed aside with little destablization. Finally, they're easier to install, since a drum is much smaller in radius than a disc, and the vitals can be protected better by the chassis. The tradeoff is that they're weaker and have much shorter reach than horizontal spinners. While till capable of tearing a bot to shreds, a horizontal spinner can reach higher tip speed with the same weapon weight, resulting in more force. And ultimately, the raw power of horizontal spinners won out when Tombstone and Carbide hit the scene and solved the horizontal spinner's self-inflicted vulnerability.
@@Leatherface123. Never said they weren't first. Just that Hypnodisc popularized a stable, effective, spinner design. Blendo was DQed in its earlier appearances because the arena was too weak, but when 1999 rolled around, it was too unreliable compared to the newer breed of bot. Hypnodisc and Nightmare are relatively even in debut, with Hypnodisc in Series 3 Robot Wars (1999-2000) and Nightmare in 1999's Battlebots, but Nightmare wasn't as initially successful as Hypnodisc (though they both made great showings).
The most epic battle of this episode:
Mick Foley Vs The Flames.
Razer, Hypnodisc, and Cyclone have always been my 3 favorite robots of all time. So sexy, with that sort of 90's futuristic look.
Round 1: 5:14
Round 2: 12:17
Ref bot!!: 14:01
Round 3: 18:16
Round 4: 25:06
Final Round: 37:44
Cyclone was the first robot to get someone out of the arena with it's disc. Imagine him in the U.K. series to do that.
tyler Vielie JP would have lost his shit.
It's nice to find 259's forgotten successful cousin after all these years.
I love seeing your comments on RW videos.
Thanks, nice to meet you too. RW is something i tend come back to once every few years.
TheStrongestBaka American cousin if you apply stig logic
Nice to see jerome miles from the hyperactive team
The guy who competed as red devil, gnome and others
And compete with dragon king in this is fighting robots
Mick Foley one of the best robot wars announcers of all time
Have a nice day
5:26
Hyperactive : O mae wa mou shindeiru
Thor's Hammer : NANI?
It’s weird to see Mike Reagan trying to act like he’s fighting
The dude is always so calm in battlebots
damn! all the roboteers in the annihilator are fighting and arguing like wild animals. that's was anarchy

Technically all returnees since the “newcomers” have garagemates
the only USA robot that throws 2 robots out of the arena, Cyclone.
What a great episode. I wonder if I can find the Cyclone team now if they're still in Tucson.
They're currently fighting in Battlebots with Ghost Raptor.
14:01
Ref Bot: What a pity. Hyperactive is eliminated.
"Oh dear, that's sad. Never mind"
God, seeing all six teams get into a fighting orgy before the Annihilator even began may be the funniest thing ever... or the cringiest thing ever.
15:45 ah.. I see....
You guys really couldn't just do another take? Lol "kazmikaze" and that delay...
Old robots:
Cyclone,Brute,The Termite
SGT BASCH IS WAN GOOD SARGENT :)
New robots of annihilator:
Thor s'hammer,Revenge,Hyperactive
E EU AQUI TORCENDO PARA O SARGENTO BATIDA USAR SUA PINÇA SEM MEDO! DROGA :/
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😆😆😆😆
Why were there so many drum spinners and vertical disks
Revenge - drum SPINNAH!
The Termite - drum SPINNAH!
Brute - drum SPINNAH!
Hyperactive - SPINNAH!
Cyclone - SPINNAH!

Can someone explain why Americans always feel the need to be so over-competitive? You didn't have it as bad as this in UK Robot Wars.
