If you are having problems with cell fracture you can run a decimate modifier on the mesh beforehand. Reduces number of faces and makes things more manageable for your computer
Don't be discouraged. These tutorials are amazing, yes but the trial and error he has to go though to bring us the perfect render are many more than he shows. Of course it is still easier for him because of his expansive knowledge but he isn't perfect either :)
why isnot working for me at 6:50 this white line? i do exacly what u did but my colortump is diffrent, its black or whine not black with white line as urs, its 2.93 version
You and pwnisher are keeping my Blender aspirations alive! I’m getting a new pc for it soon, but unfortunately I’ll have to settle with something slightly less than I desire. Upgrades can happen later :)
For everyone struggleing with some pieces not fractured try this: Apply the solidify modifier with a thinkness of 0.02 to it. Hit Apply. And try the fracturing again. Bonus: Apply the thinkness with 1 instead of -1. That adds it to the outside - which you want in most cases.
I wonder if Blender will eventually put the Viewer node alongside the Composite node as a default config. It would be pretty handy (not a HUGE time saver, but a time saver nonetheless).
Why is it when I adjust the slider on the ColorRamp its on Constant, my edges dont do what his did with the gold look, instead my entire head changes to a solid color... (connected it to mapping node and geometry node as well) but still when i move the slide past middle entire model changes color.
that was equally intense and awesome at the same time! I've not used blender in years and this has taught me a lot, many thanks! I couldn't however get the nice metallic effect on the base colour texture, not sure what I did wrong but I'm sure I'll figure it out sooner or later ! thanks again !
hey, great tutorial, it was really useful! But I can't get the shaders to work. I did the exact same steps but I don't get an outline on my edges. And the noise texture doesn't work either. Can you please help me? This is my second time using blender so maybe I just don't have some add-ons installed or something
HI, I tried it on a 3d scan and the node wasn't recognising the edges correctly, ( when I try to use the colour ramp to adjust the pointless node, I only have an extremely small square where the edges get shown on the model, in there anything I need to correct with my model for this node to take effect correctly ?
Love the tutorial! Quick question, at approximately 3:40, you added a remesh modifier because you said there were too many faces ("around 200,000"). But after the remesh modifier, it actually had 28,000 more faces than it did before. ... ?
I tried this with a subdivided Suzanne and it acts strange when I try to fracture it. In fact, Suzanne acts kinda strange with just boolean operations, like it has less faces than it really does.
Can someone help me with an issue please. The cell fracture results in blocks rather than smooth fracture. What am I doing wrong? I tried with a ball, and it happened. It was all blocks rather than a smooth fracture as shown in this tutorial. So I tried with Suzanne, and even with Suzanne, the result was the same. I keep the same count - source limit is 50 and noise 1.
1st off I used Susan for this and the fracture was a little less forgiving, got some odd big pieces behind the eyes. Moved on and got the bold, gold, lines around the pieces but somewhere along the line it disappeared. I guess I'm starting over again.
Ok going through it again and looks like(so far) that I loose those gold boards when I go to Eevee. So far when I switch to Cycles I get them back . . . ok I see you loose them too. Didn't notice that 1st time through.
@@djC653 I had issues with the edge stuff not showing up, but I just followed the rest of the tutorial without it and it still turned out looking super cool.
Oh i've already tried this cell fracture addon but every time i would "destroy" my model some pieces were not following the shape of my model. It's because of Noise limit?! Omagad i was so stupid thank you so much (and sry for my English lol)
Ah Cell fracture my old RAM hog! Blenderists if you really want to use a high poly model and your current hardware isn't happy with it, load the model, use decimate modifier and tweak then apply - save as a new low poly of it. You'll lose some geometry but it may look the same in most cases. tip : if your model is hollow (not a full closed mesh, like it has a neck but there are meshes to cover it) cell fracture will create fracture objects inside and you'll have to delete some of them or wont work correctly. If anyone has a solution for this please help :)
Applying a solidify modifier to a hollow mesh will usually allow cell fracture to work fine. Issues can run up if there are interior meshes like an eyeball or teeth. So ideally clean up your mesh so it is "one layer", solidify to give a little bit of thickness, then cell fracture
@@durararaOni ah thanks man, I did the solidify modifier by trial and error yet forgot that I've even asked the question. So it is best to use mesh by mesh but not as a single object mesh to run fracture, will keep that in mind.
anyone else having the problem where some fractured pieces are still in big chunks? and then when you delete it there is just a big hole in your model? can someone help. thanks
