Awesome excavator, leveling is the key to a good operator, just like a DJ learning mixing, graffic designing..5 years in art school....etc... those skills are history, with hi-tech systems that make these redundant...but all about productivity and money...

New digger looks good, amazinng the new features they'r eadding to ease the tasking of the operator. 8-10hr concentration on a machine is tiring.
I'm in construction and I still don't uinderstand green lights. If you want to make operators wear the seatbelt, just put a sensor in linked to the controls so it can't track. More flashing lights on a busy sight just adds distraction, esp. on a busy highway site at night.

That digger is Sub Zero on the cool wall. They also use that E-fence to stop them going into the carriageway when using them for roadworks.

Have to say that new digger is very trick, but I can say without any doubt that non of those features will still be working when it gets down to my price range 🤣🤣. All this clever stuff is great when it is still under warrantee but generally too expensive to keep working once it is out. Enjoy! Should make you all grade 1 digger drivers 🤣

Cracking bit of kit is the new 313 olly, we have several cats in our fleet, all with trimble earthworks GPS. Just have to remember that as soon as you move the tracks to reset your level to where you have been working with the 2d (efence)

Good video Olly, the new Cat looks tidy.. bit of a difference to an old Hymac excavator.. the technology you can get now is amazing but as for the likes of the self levelling it can take away an element of skill but could also improve your productivity, bit like GPS on a tractor etc I suppose..
Have CAT realised that there’s not skilled plant operators coming through anymore 🤫

Drive machines myself it looks good . Need the laser guided as you say for it work 100%%
Have used GPS machines where the site engineer uploads the info then off you go to position level the lot .
It's nice to see technology advancing now I'm not a digger driver but I have worked as a labourer around machinery. And I just can't help but think there are very few drivers who would be interested in something that high tech just seems like more to go wrong on top of the eventuality of a pipe shitting itself

You can also keep a grade ( a level) while moving by using the "touch point" feature on the monitor
You can also use it with a laser level if it's got the receiver on the stick
The button on the RPM Dial changes the power modes not the auto idle

If you're digging a drain to a grade you need to have the digger and the laser set to the same grade (%). It works really well , very fast & efficient

Question for you olly, is it easy to get into farming/contracting eg go and work for a farm/contractors if you have no experience ? Do farms take on people and train them up ? Would love to get into it but always assumed they would want experienced people as they are always soo busy, and time is money of course 😅

The Cat levelling system looks good, but the skill of an experienced operator will be lost in 20 years time. My old Dad would have said it was cheating!!!! No doubt the plastic panels will be 'best sellers' for Cat dealers in the future.
