When did they drop the Battalion part of the unit number on the fire apparatus? Participated in a standby at Bethpage Headquarters back in the early 1970"s.
I asked my dad because he used to be in the fire department and he said They never called it by the 903 number always called it ladder 3 when they first got a ladder truck so that you always knew the ladder truck was coming over the radio hopefully that answers the question because i dont know it
Bethpage is a hour away depending on traffic from nyc and some of the guys are or used to be fdny fire fighters so they went with this design and trucks
