I love this sonata. It is gentle, and then dramatic, and ultimately sweet, joyous, and quirky. It's the quirkiness I love. Beethoven was such a genius to think of, devise, and then record this music. Truly one of the geniuses of the species.
Feels like Schumann may have had some serious inspiration from this unique sonata
One of his greatest.
Weird? I disagree. A sophisticated, departure into new territory would be a better description. I may seem weird because of the absence of harmonic "directness, contrary motion between voice parts. The harmonic and melodic elements are ambiguous. Also, starting on the dominant instead of the tonic makes it seem weird. BTW, the sheet music is the Dover Edition not Schnabel. Yes, the recording is Schnabel. Thanks for posting!
So why was this is not Schnabel's Beethoven Edition of Opus 101?. Great perf. Thanks.
6:14 the score has a flat but you g natural
This is one of the Beethoven`s most weird Sonata.
Because it is lacked of I chord in A major until the last of the song.
