Solo Camping in the extreme COLD and high winds-BUSHCRAFT SHELTER

- Temperatures were projected to drop low into the single digits with bone chilling wind reaching 30+ mph making it feel well below zero. I will be building a bushcraft shelter to protect me for the element through the night.

The Angry Prepper does it sometimes usually a couple times out of the year as well...
I have two suggestions for future adventures in the cold outdoors. First learn to make gluts. After you're done using them, you can use them in the fire. Second, construct a fire reflector. It staves off the wind gusts blowing at you and it does send radiant heat into your shelter and on to you. You can incorporate a barrier to keep the sideways breezes from getting into your shelter and you may enjoy the warmth to try a two day camp. Best to you this year.

Cool little shelter! I live in DEEP deep south Texas.....we don't have alot of trees down here with straight trunks or branches so it's really hard to build shelters like that.....but we do what we can just to play in the woods haha....cool video man! I'll be following to see your future bushcraft!

Brrrr looked cold out there! Nice steak on the coals and awesome primitive shelter! Getting up in the morning and out of the warm sleep system sucks lol but nature calls 😁 Gotta have that morning fire, it’s my favorite because like you said, it feels sooo good! Nice note about the fire, I thought, "well he has to come back for his camera, he’ll put it out then."

I like the food going straight into the coals. I would have popped a couple of potatoes in too. I watch these vids often with the sound off. It takes me back to core memories of watching my father chopping wood and making things. The sound of the fire is also nice tho. One thing I have seen. I am not quite sure if I can describe it well, however, if you had exactly the same shelter as here...but with a door...you can actually create a type of well at the top end of the shelter by digging a hole and backing with stones...the shelter that end is actually created over that and packed with mud or soil. That enables you to effectively have a natural fireplace in the shelter as well as being able to use larger cooking pots outside and to feed it with bigger material outside. 5 degrees I need quadruple thermals. I think you may need a better sleeping bag you frozen popsicle!

A suggestion: if you heat up your water and put it in the bottle it makes a great hot water bottle for your sleeping bag and also your water isn’t frozen in the morning.

Yes! Right on the coals, best way to cook a steak. I have the same spoon, cant stand titanium or metal scraping. Definitely invest in a good set of gloves to keep your hands warm.

Perhaps a large metal thermos would be better, if you have room to pack it. I've seen some use it and boil their water in it also.

I built a shelter like this one and it was awesome!
The winds were terrible but I built a wall out of all the Firewood I had.
