When you think about it Hat Kid is not the generic hero. Instead of being absolutely pure she still does things like steal, be slightly selfish, and push the mafia off of buildings.

Hearing Hat Kid's lyrics, I get the sense of both fear due to the fact that an entire town is coming for her head. But I also get a sense of confidence, as if she's looking at this situation with the feeling of "Just another Tuesday."

I like how the first 2 times Empress sings "Lazy paws, do your job." she sounds calm and collective but the third time she sounds outright angry because the cats still haven't caught Hat Kid

Have you ever noticed how the Nyakuza metro is basically a culmination of all the other worlds? (Aside from Time’s End) the cats are the Japanese version of the mafia, the theme of the modern, neon train station/subway is like a hybrid of the two BotB sides, you get hired to find the time pieces like in Subcon Forest, it’s a free-roam world like Alpine Skyline, and it’s a dlc world like the Seal the Deal world.
(Edit: it also has the carrying things mechanic from Seal the Deal in the part when you’re picking up all the time pieces)

The Empress always scared me more than Snatcher. She can kill you in one hit, she has an entire mafia of cats working under her. In the final battle she has a _rocket launcher._ She just has this cold and calculated air to her that all breaks down during this final battle. Now she’s a pissed and ferocious cat that Brodingles portrays perfectly.
She could have killed you in one swipe while she had you, but instead she decides to send all these cats after you, making you SUFFER first.
To be fair, Snatcher kills Hat Kid in zero hits if you refuse to sign his contracts.

I think one of the most impressive things about MOTI is how well they avert silent protagonists; Frisk, Chrono, Red, and now Hat Kid- all heroes that canonically never speak a peep as far as proper, written dialog goes, yet these songs expand upon what we know of these characters to give them fully-fledged personalities, and it’s done so seamlessly you don’t even bat an eye when they start singing with everyone else.
Bonus points to EmilyGo VO as Hat Kid, because she also sounds spot on to Apphia Yu’s portrayal. Like, darn, MOTI; for the first proper Bytes series where you have actual voice acting to reference, I can tell you’ve put time and effort to getting everyone’s voice down just right.
Well done, seriously; can’t wait to hear the full package back to back ^_^

Throughout the entire song, I think 2:44 is my favorite. The speed of the part in the song, mixed with the lyrics, makes something beautiful

Everyone talks about how they love the ost of the DLCs, but my personal favorite part about them is the animated cutscenes and dialog.

I can’t explain how....I don’t even have a word for it. Everyone did such a good job. Alex and everyone who works on these videos. Lyrics, singing, art, and more. All these Bytes have been so good and I can’t wait for the rest =)

I'd argue that A Hat in Time is a bit too disjointed in its story to be given the musical treatment, which is probably why a Musical Bytes was made instead of a Musical

@@drakath5727 But that would quite literally be the opposite of what the phrase means. The phrase "Honor Among Thieves" means that criminals don't interfere with the operations of other criminals. Hence why the Empress is saying "Looks like there never was honor among thieves" because Hat Kid stole the time pieces from her.
Every singer did an absolutely fantastic job, but the job done by Brodingles for The Empress has captured my ears. I could honestly envision the character singing like this, and it's fantastic.

Imakuni_BoomAtack, That is a really good point, I didn't realize for Pokémon and I didn't watch the other one, I'm just guessing since I think it's a bigger song, and since no mustache girl was confirmed, the only ones I can think of are Mafia Boss, but there was already a song for that chapter, and for the cruise ship, I think ship shape has a chance, yet I don't think they're big enough songs.
The thing is, all the bonus songs so far have been songs already on the channel, so the one for this package will most likely be Snatcher

Play It Play It Play It. It's so worth the money. make sure you have a decent PC thought because the game is harder to run than it looks. especially the nyakuza DLC, I have like a really good pc and it dropped to around 40 FPS in some areas

This song is absolutely puuuurfect. The oriental theme, the rhyming in perfect timing with the theme and the story is presented across the song just to give context. It really is a great song and I look forward to the eventual 1-hour version

One of my favorite songs and levels in the game. These lyrics are perfect too. It actually sounds like a crime organization trying to catch and kill this kid who’s just desperate to get home.
I've been listening to this ever since it came out, and I just wanted to say some things.
1. When the chorus, Hat Kid, and Empress all sing together, they all kinda overlap eachother. The chorus is the quietest and hat kid and Empress kinda overtake everything, it's kinda hard to listen to after a while but feels really hyped up the first few times. Maybe one could overtake the other by a slight bit like how BOA42 did with the Conductor slightly overtaking DJ Grooves.
2. The first time I saw this I forgot at some points the purple text was the Empresses voice, it sounded more like one of the cat criminals tbh 🤷
3. I wish they changed the last line in the chorus after a few times of repeating, kinda like how genocide Hotland from UTTM did it. For example, instead of repeating "It is the Empress who wears the crown" near the end it'd change to "It is the Empress who'll take you down". I actually expected this the first time, and was surprised it didn't happen.
But still, I really love this song. Emi did even better at Hat Kid's voice than she did at Mafia Town, and her lyrics are perfect. And near the end when she repeats the lyrics, she does them at higher notes. And I like how whenever the Empress says "Lazy paws, do your job!" she gets angrier every time.

For some reason this song makes me think of the second half of John Wick 2, where every assassin in New York tries to take a pop at Wick for the bounty. Especially at the verse that begins "Sound the alarm, nobody gets away!", I can imagine the cats all arming up to run down Hat Kid with every weapon they can muster.

I really wish The Empress had a backstory, she's such an intimadating and intriguing character, but instead they gave a backstory to Rumbi! I really really hope we learn her backstory some day. Like, where did she get all those scars? How was she able to take over the metro? Amazing job on this!
