- The last half of the final quarter of the 2012 Australian Football League (AFL) Grand Final, which was played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Saturday 29th September, 2012, between the Hawthorn Football Club (The Hawks) and the Sydney Football Club (The Swans). The 116th VFL/AFL Grand Final saw an official attendance of 99,683 spectators. The commentators for this Grand Final were Bruce McAvaney, Dennis Cometti, Brian Taylor, Matthew Richardson, Cameron Ling, Michael Malthouse, Tom Harley, Luke Darcy, and Leigh Matthews. Alastair Clarkson was Hawthorn's coach, and John Longmire was Sydney's coach.
The final score saw Sydney defeating Hawthorn by 10 points, to hand Sydney (formerly South Melbourne) its fifth Premiership.
