As a completely non-biased singles player, I think Ludicolo needs a signature move called “Salsa Slide” that deals grass type damage with 100 base power and perfect accuracy, that always lands a critical hit, that’s super effective against fire types, gives the user two omni-boosts, puts the opponent to sleep, and replaces one of the opponents remaining Pokémon with a level 1 Lotad that only knows Splash. I think it’s only fair to make Ludicolo more lore accurate, considering it created Arceus and the rest of the known universe.
@mr.jitterspam9552 Hey, man, I know what the pokedex says but that's just an inside joke among prokemon professors. Just look at it. It's a tree. It's only pretending to not be a tree. It even uses fake tears because of the joke with watering it.
Great video! One minor correction, you said sudowoodo was a ground type, but it’s actually a grass type. It’s a pretty common misconception because Sudowoodo is based off of a tree pretending to be a rock pretending to be a tree. Hope this helps!
I want an Ice/Bug mon with an ability that makes it weak to resisted moves and resistant to super effective moves. It would 4x resist Rock and Fire, 2x resist Flying and Steel and be 2x weak to Grass, Ground and Ice.
Alright I'm going to throw my hat in the ring. I want tropius to have a signature move where it throws some peels on the opponent side as hazards and the first time a new switch in occurs on the opponent side it gets automatically confused. One more, one idea I had was a weak fighting move called jab, where if it lands it gives you priority on your next move
jab would work well as hitmonlee's signature move, having priority CC's and knock offs would do wonders for him, also for the tropious one, you could make it have only one PP and make it sleep instead of confusion
I recently turned every competitvely viable move into a little graphic for video making purposes and I learned there are roughly 376 good moves and exactly 12 of them are flying type, for comparison there are 35 good normal type STATUS moves
Yeah Heatmor needs a signature move called Pyro Lick, this move would deal both physical and special damage. The power being based on how tasty the Pokémon is, Onix tastes like dog shit so it would do 1 damage and pokemon like Applin it would do 200 base power. It also burns everytime. It also adds the newly introduced status condition called: Uncomfortable.
Lost And Found (Ground) Status 5 PP The user digs around for lost treasure, discovering some forgotten berries and eating them, recovering a bit of HP (1/4 max). If the user's item was removed before using this move, they will find a new one.
An electric type move for freeze-dry that deals with grounds would be even more busted than freeze-dry already is IMO. Electric is a really good type offensively (and somewhat okay defensively, when ice is already the worst type in the game in that regard) that all you would really need is that move and another strong electric type move (assuming its 70 bp) and you pretty much hit nearly everything in the game with one type.
I was thinking the same thing but if it’s distribution was limited to pokemon like Vikavolt, Galvantuala, Bellibolt and the like I think it’d be reasonable
Some moves I'd like to see: Elemental Kicks Freeze Dry for other types (a type that hits a type that it normally doesn't super effectively) More widely distributed Aura Sphere
I absolutely agree with the nessessity for a Will-O-Wisp version for special attacking debuffs. Special Attackers are simply better since they have to worry very little about getting their power cut in half, and their only worry is a niche item or the possibility of facing a chansey or blissey, to which csn easily be countered. It will allow for offensive pokemon on the special side to not automatically become a nuclear option the moment they set up or snowball out of control. Also loving the new avatar art!!!!
For a special attacking version of Will-O-Wisp: remove the frozen condition and replace it with Frostbite (DOT with a special attack drop) from Legends Arceus. Then, make a move that straight up causes the frostbite condition
It's not a new move, but I would love it if Wild Charge got buffed to 120 and Volt Tackle to 150 so it's still better than Wild Charge. Pikachu throwing out an electric-type Head Smash with its tiny HP but massive attack with a light ball would be funny to see.
Type bonus that should happen. For example, ice and rock buffs in weather/dark immunity to prankster/ghosts immunity to trapping and type immunitys I feel like bug should get a entry hazard immunity(yes i know we would never see volc again in ou😢)
wait, he is kinda cooking sure volc is going to be banned but we could have the first (webless) viable bug type in ubers it also buffs them in a way witch does not affect their placing in single player
We have multiple ways to counter play protect (the best move in vgc) but no real counterplay to knock off which is super popular in both formats. I think having counterplay opportunities for staples moves are important and add alot of depth to competition.
hey i also had an idea for an ice hazard (needle ice) long ago! the steel one (steelsurge) would return as well as fire (scorching embers) and grass (thorny brambles) but they would replace one another (stealth rock included) as multiple type based hazards would be a bit too much!
3:15 i suppose they could bring back the frost bite condition from legends Arceus to help nerf the frozen condition after the sleep ban from showdown i kinda agree now that sleep was broken perhaps freese should go too plus special attackers are generally better so a nerf should help What about an ice type move called Flash Freeze: it's identical to burn except it cuts the special attack in half
Notably frostbite is exactly the special burn equivalent you mention, and replaced freeze as a status in LA, which is uhhh, way better and its absurd they didnt keep it
Theorymoning is so cool, so is this video ! I would love to have the spécial attack will-o-wisp it would make so much sens, idk wich type it should be tho, water or ice I guess but psychic could be an option since it's a rly special attack focused type I feel like and psychic types being able to nerf your special power makes sens to me haha That's not a move but Intimidate but for SpA should be in the game too I feel like also u cute so is your png
In legends arceus the frostburn status lowered special attack the same way burn lowers physical attack so I think that would be nice to add to the main series games, it could even replace freeze as I've seen a few people argue freeze is uncompetitive
The first move is a Stealth Rock clone and it makes me feel like this video is a troll Hazard stacking is one of the lamest and most suffocating forces in Smogon singles, Stealth Rock already put such a massive bottleneck on certain type of Pokémon and vaguely minor bonuses on other types. The only thing to come out of an Ice Type hazard is making Hazard stacking even more prevalent and just arbitrarily nerfing Grass, Flying, Ground and Dragon types.
what about giving exiting and bad moves new effects like power gem since it has a low base power, no secondary effect and is a special rock move what about giving it the effects of expanding force but for sandstorm, or what about turning recycle works on non consumable items and affects the entire party like heal bell
Whats with pokemon UA-camrs face reveals revealing them to be insanely attractive? I thought BKC's chad jawline reveal was an anomaly but it seems to be a pattern. Keep up the good work regardless! (even if ice type rocks is a terrifying concept)
I think the ice type stealth rocks and a water type special debuff should be swapped. Frostbite from legends arceus was a special debuff that replaced freeze and for some reason didn’t get carried over into gen 9. Also I think giving flying types, which already get so screwed over by stealth rocks, a second hazard to be weak to is just mean. Also water type stealth rocks would still nerf ground types like you were going for.
There actually a creature catching game call loomian legacy that alr have this move call went by the name of "icicle trap" that act like rock but get weaker every time fire type hit the field till it just gone
Personally I would make special wil o wisp an ice move, and bring back the frostbite effect from legends arceus (which is like a special version of burn)
They should make a move called “Mute” that is a sound type move that has 0 base power but Ohko’s any sound type pokemon. And then never create a sound type pokemon. Oh also only limit it to whiscash
Honestly, while I do like the video, I'm not sure about the dragon type or electric type freeze dry. Freeze dry is something that hits a type that would resist the attack for super effective damage so applying that same logic to stuff that super effectively hits types that it would be immune to otherwise might break the balance of the game. (if that made sense) I feel it would either have a drawback like low base power or not hit stuff for super effective damage.
Move names: Frostbite status condition version of Will-O'-Wisp: Flash Freeze I don't think it makes sense though, if you don't also introduce the Frostbite status from PLA. This whole section is really contingent on that one critical addition. Electric-type Freeze Dry: Ground Shock I think you'd need to be very, VERY limited with this move's distribution, or else it would really mess up game balance. Maybe only give it to the thematically-fitting Sandy Shocks and Stunfisk, plus possibly some underpowered fan favorites, like Jolteon or Luxray. Item-recovery move: Re-arm I personally disagree with you that this is the best way to introduce counterplay to Knock Off. In fact, it doesn't even feel like counterplay at all. It just feels like an underpowered attempt at mitigation of a problem. This is occupying an entire moveslot just for the possibility of getting hit with Knock Off, and the user would've still been hit by a 97.5bp Dark move to have been placed in a situation in which they'd want to use this move in the first place. I just don't think that the defending player is given a fair shot for counterplay, even by the introduction of an item-recovering move, because the offensive player still has such a free click to have used Knock Off in the first place, and that that is the inherently problematic aspect of Gen 6 and beyond Knock Off. If you want to have a move to recover items, I'd prefer that Recycle just gets buffed to recover the item in cases of Knock Off, Trick/Switcheroo, and Thief. But that doesn't fix the Knock Off problem. What is needed for genuine counterplay to Knock Off are having multiple item options per team which cannot be knocked off (such as mega stones and Z-crystals), so that you have more than one potential switch-in against a Knock Off user. Better yet, there should be an item which specifically PUNISHES the Knock Off player for having clicked on Knock Off in the first place. Without specifically punishing Knock Off as a click, it will never be a bad click - only at worst a suboptimal click. There needs to be a mechanic which, when appropriately predicted, puts the Knocking Off player in a distinct disadvantage for having clicked it at all. My thought would be to rework Sticky Barb such that it only activates if the opponent attempts to remove the holder's item, rather than just on any contact move. At that point, the opponent's item is lost instead, and it is replaced with Sticky Barb, and they lose 12.% HP per turn. The original Sticky Barb holder does not suffer the 12.5% damage per turn - only the new recipient of that item.
2:54 and 4:44 Great ideas, absolutely the wrong types, both of these ideas are great and can be used to buff some of the weaker types (psychic, poison, grass and normal come to mind) but giving these amazing moves to top types (elec, dragon and water) just buffs them waaay to much, i personally would give the special burn idea to psychic types and the freeze dry 2.0 idea to normal aggainst ghost and poison aggainst steel
They really should have replaced Freeze with Frostbite from legends and let Tornadus and Zoroark-H keep their secondary effects of applying the status. All 10% freeze chances are replaced with 30% Frostbite and a move that applies it should be given primarily to Ice mons. It would also be nice to replace Sleep with Drowsy even if Rest would likely need rebalancing or have sleep be kept for just rest.
If you add a fire type stealth rocks in to the game, Frosmoth could take 150% damage upon switching in if every hazard were up (including max steelsurge) xD Yeahhh, maybe we don't wanna add more hazards.
What the heck people, yall really want different types of Stealth Rock? That thing is degenerate enough as is and yall wanna live in a world where you dont even know what mons in your team are at risk of losing 25% of their health when switching in. Even worse, imagine they all stacked and now no mon in your team is safe.
oh god no we dont need more hazards, they're already too good. imagine switching in a dragon flying type and losing 75% percent of your health because icicles and rocks are up. that sounds awful. you'd pretty much be required to run HDB on every mon to deal with that amount of hazard stacking.
@@charlescalvin8680 any move with 5% chance to miss makes me want to jump on my head when it misses. Losing half health on protect miss or immunity is sooooooo bad
The competitive romhack Radical Red implemented Frostbite or the move Draco Barrage, which ignores Fairy immunity. The game feels more well rounded both in singles AND in doubles, so I believe you're right on the money with these takes. Not sure about nerfing Knock Off as most of it's value is based on the value of a few items such as Heavy Duty Boots, which in turn gets it's value out of how strong Stealth Rocks are. I feel like Knock Off would perhaps already be fairly punished with implementations such as item clause in singles or Stealth Rocks being used up after a few damage instances. Leftovers was nerfed in a similar way when they restricted residual damage of Weather to 5 turns.
0:43 my knee jerk reaction to hearing ice type stealth rocks was to begin writing a coment calling you every single racial slur of every region of every country, but because that's too much work i thouht of a change that could make the move less of a war crime, and that is making it and stealth rocks mutually exclusive, making it so that instead of every team having a rocks pokemon you actually have to think if your team prefers having rocks or icicles based on the mons they struggle with
