“Keep holding on” outro is the mother’s heartbeat from my understanding. The entire self-titled album from 2013 was written from a very deep, personal place. “Jenny” is about his sister Jenna(it might be Gemma though) and her battle with substance abuse. Their next album “The Stories That We Tell Ourselves” was written while Jonny was going through a divorce and is equally honest and raw. Props and thanks for covering these guys.
The lyrics, "Tightly she holds, but the plan still unfolds..." have me in tears every single time I hear this song. This song is underrated for so many reasons: it shows the desperation to cling onto life from both sides of the person dying and the person trying to be strong while watching a loved one die; the inner challenge of seeing someone's turmoil with religion in so much pain and suffering; the need for finality in peace. Jonny Hawkins has written some seriously lyrical and vocal masterpieces, backed by a band that pour as much into the song as he does. Love every single second of the song.
Jonny Hawkins ends the song with the “keep holding on” echo as it was the last thing he said to his mother. Nothing More is one of the best bands doing it right now.
It's impossible not to cry with this song, it breaks my heart every single time I hear it. I lost my mom when I was 17 (now I'm 30) and it feels as if it had happened yesterday.
This song, Jenny and fade in fade out is the day ruining trifecta for me. I had those three songs play in a row in my rock playlist 1 time and I was wrecked for the rest of the day. Called my parents and everything.
This song always stood out to me, like it was relevant to me but at the time it wasn't. I was maybe 16-18 when I discovered this song. I'm 22 now. My mom is in the ICU after a procedure to open up her heart valve with a balloon treatment caused the right side if her heart to weaken (it was the left side treated) and her liver to fail, which caused her lungs and kidneys and heart to fail. She the other day had both valves on the left side replaced, she's on life support because taking her off it during surgery (she had to be on it for surgery as they had to stop her heart) her lungs kept filling with fluid and her oxygen stats dropped. They're keeping her sedated and asleep for a few days, maybe longer, to let her body recover. Her kidneys and such are seeing improvement but they may still have to do the double lung transplant they were talking about. Fuck this song hits so much harder. I forgot about it until last night. It's helping me cry. It's so weird not seeing her online or calling me, or being unable to call her and talk to her. She may still die, but they're trying everything they can to save her. Everything is extremely high risk surgical wise. But they're still trying. When the surgeon came down to inform us about the surgery and give the final update, I made sure to thank him. He spent 9-11 hours working on her heart.
So funnily enough Johnny Hawkins, the singer and writer of most of the songs for the band, is agnostic. he openly states he doesn't think there is a god but is open to the idea of there being one. But despite that he does spirituality very well in the groups songs. (probably because he is from a highly religious area)
In an earlier song from the band "Gone" Jonny sings of dealing with being away as his mother was dealing with cancer. This song hits me hard each time I hear it, probably because I've been through similar loss. Nothing More is amazing.

Severely underrated band.
Definitely!
Seem so much, hung out with em. I just can't say enough awesome stuff about them.
So true... They are amazing! This song alone is such a masterpiece not every famous artist could write and sing! 😢
Truth!!!!!!
Jonny Hawkins is the vocalist of Nothing More, an absolute unit of an artist and a force of nature

Fade in fade out hits like this does. Definitely recommend 👌
Both these songs, Jenny and God Went North are just tough.

Was just looking for reactions and saw this popped up recently

Also Love the KISS posters in the background 🤟🤟
One of my favorite bands of all time!! Very underrated band, but people are starting to catch on. There new singles are 🔥🔥🔥
I now exactly how it feels. When a loved one goes through cancer they hold on until it’s just to much and then you just want peace for them. 😢
It’s worse because of Jenny. It feels like she held on because of her.
You should definitely watch the video for Don’t Stop, it’s awesome
I can’t find your reaction to Jenny! Could you direct me to it? Please and thank you! 🙏🏻
I was wondering the same, if you haven’t found it and still want to see it’s on another channel. Search “TNT Jenny Nothing More” and it will come up
