I guess those on the West Coast aren't as familiar with show tunes as those on the East Coast.
Gene Rayburn didn't stay long with this show. Joe Farago took over as host in December. Match Game is Gene's best fit. He had great times with that show, especially 1973-1982 years. Also I liked the 2nd format with contestants answering questions for cash instead of seconds, and prizes for solving puzzles, and champions won more bankcards by solving another puzzles for more bank cards. Joe Farago was the best emcee. He should have hosted more game shows after Break the Bank was canceled. He would be perfect for Blockbusters 1987 revival, Classic Concentration, Blackout CBS 1988 or even Daytime Wheel of Fortune CBS 1989-1991 and NBC 1991

There was a story that Joe and David Leisure were in line to host the reboot of THE GONG SHOW in 1988. The job eventually went to Don Bleu.
