Theater broadcasts are pretty awful in terms of sound quality, technical glitches, poor camerawork. They have a full season to scout corps highlight moments and.... smh
high cam is really the only way to watch this show, multicam doesn't work with the screens cause you'll never get the full effect. the uploads are appreciated
Gosh DAMN their color guard is just on FIRE these last few years and haven't let up at all. Just the skill level of every person in crusaders guard is astonishing. Loved the show, ballad gave me goosebumps, and their brass is on their way to the top. Crusaders is having their dark horse era, really starting with their SOS program.
i think that was the most weapon work i've seen in any ballad ever. whoever wrote their guard book deserves plenty of credit too because the design was nearly as mesmerizing as the seemingly flawless performance. the energy their guard has been bringing really has been a wonder to watch. as someone who placed outside the top 5 on a year where our hornline was at championship level, the fact that they've established themselves as such an undeniable force despite the corps overall placement not being equally rewarded is truly astonishing and unprecedented in modern times. making history dating back to spirit's guard in the late 80's. (87?) especially since it's far from a one-off, more so bordering on dynastic status at this point. really attention-grabbing for sure.
You f***ers actually got me crying on the "Giant" clip. Amazing. Just amazing. What coordination of elements! You just upped the ante for the activity. Still sitting in my living room trying to look like I'm not crying. I lived through the 90s with this bunch. GIANTS!
@@camilleon352 It is! The corps song is called Giant and begins with the line "this corps is made of giants." The sample you hear at the ending hit of the show is the 2021 cast all singing it together!
@@elizabethking6009 I thought that sounded familiar. I'm from Texas, and I recognize that tune because we played it in our marching band all the time, but I didn't expect a Yankee corps to adopt it, lol.
I wish the screens had been… less. I love this show (saw at semis) but I was sitting on side one and was sooooo distracted by them. The guard really went full throttle on this and I was wowed but I couldn’t help but feel as if I had missed a lot of visuals because of the screens. This recording makes me love it even more because they’re much less in-your-face.
Boston Crusaders, ever the innovator, taking the risks knowing full well some things will always work out better than other things... pushing the envelope...such creative and wonderfully designed shows from the Corps the last few years.. This show is highly entertaining, and you can just tell their marchers enjoy performing their shows like this the last few years.
I love the idea of the huge video boards. But tbh they took my eyes off the corps. It’s like a car accident, I can’t stop watching them. Which is shame because this corps moves, tosses, and dances so well, but I miss most of it because I can’t stop watching the boards lol. I wonder how that would play into judging, particularly GE. But didn’t matter for 2021. Thank you BAC for yet again bringing excellence and innovation to the field.
I think it was the placement that was the issue. They could have- should have- placed the boards closer to where the general focal area of the field was across the entire show. Rear center (not of the field, but the general rear center stage area of all sets cumulatively) would have worked. You're right; it does force the eye to move away and that's a shame. I do have to say though- they pulled it off convincingly. It did work, it was just in the wrong place on the field. What I'd really like to know is the logistics of the videos themselves. How were they timed? *Were* they timed at all, or was someone manipulating playback start/stop and possibly keyframes during the live performance? I'd think prerecording them wouldn't necessarily work so well- but then, they do know the lengths of the parts of the show to within probably eight to ten seconds given time constraints for a single show. Then again, again, the last four notes of the first part were absolutely in sync almost perfectly with the video, and those animations could have been controlled live. Or could they? How exactly does this sort of thing work on the field? I'm guessing someone here could answer but I don't know who to ask.
I haven't seen a cologuard this solid in many, many years. Also, digital visuals *done right.* which I never thought I'd say. Also also, the rifle trick at 8:58 could break your wrist. Don't try it unless your tendons are rubber.

valid. it sorta makes it so you need a MINIMUM of two reads of the show to see what the corps is doing, then see what’s on the screens. it makes it tricky when you only have one shot to see the show live for example and you aren’t sure what to pay attention to, especially with the corps and screens being so separate as i saw someone else here point out
