I’m glad ASHRAE recently pushed the bar up for economizer design & diagnostics. Economizer has been always like mysterious black box that no one quite understands and when it fails it goes unnoticed
Hi great video! I have an stock open economizer its 90*F out and is still open costumer doesnt want it fixed . if i bypass the economizer will the damper close?
If the damper is stuck open because the control is what is sending the signal to the actuator then it should close as soon as you remove the power to the controller. If the damper actuator is mechanically stuck then you will have to loosen the set screw to the actuator shaft and move the dampers closed. Once unplugged the cooling won't work until you jump the Y1 in to the out (blue to gray there at the 7212) and y2 in to the out (yellow to orange) and the compressors will operate.
@@hackfreehvac Do you jump 24v(or whatever voltage needed into the box and control all outputs individually with switches? I'm using alligator clips like a caveman lol
@@jeremyvoshage2410 Yeah, it's just like using alligator jumpers but with a switch in between red and green for fan, red and yellow for comp, red and blue for second stage or whatever I connect them too. I have a 3 amp breaker from a old 24vac transformer on the red wire in case I short it. I hook up the connectors and then flip the switches to prevent the contactor from jumping when connecting the alligators.
I like the Honeywell JADE, I think it is a nice step up from that older style economizer module.
The new ones are sweet.
So the letter DCV that they translated to DC volt is actually meant Demand Control Ventilation according to the manual

The carrier stat w/ dehumidification...is that considered an indoor air quality sensor?

@@hackfreehvac Thank you so much ! i ll try it and let you know ! thank once again
Cool little jumper
Thanks.
I couldn't imagine going back to plain Jane alligator jumpers after using these home-made switch boxes for a while.

@@hackfreehvac Clever
What is that jumper tool part called? I want to order that
Very good tip
What’s the best setting a b c or d
D is the lower temp and what we use in Phoenix so it doesn't allow free cool unless it is closer to 60 or below outside.
How did you make test switch?
It's just rocker switches in a plastic box.
Is that a iPad?
Yes it is.
And they are almost as crappy as a Goodman.
