Kaedwen Knights looks like Heavy russians Hussars and heavy russian pikemans in 17 century . Light kaedwen cavalry looks like cossacks yes ) Kaedwen has a harsh climate , little arable land and extensive coniferous forests and fur trade . King Henselt himself is similar to Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich Romanov , very similar to Russia
amin zekul tbh I didn’t really like Henselt though still and I don’t really like roche as much as I did especially in Witcher 3 after he basically sells out the rest of the North for the sovereign of Temeria
I'm new to witcher and I love the lore. I am so glad to find this channel so I can understand and have a better appreciation of the games. Thanks witcher George for the vids and hope you continue with all the lore you can
Hey George. Nice vids. I'm a Witcher fan for a long long time. I`m Pole and I have read books even before Witcher 1. When it comes to pronunciation it is a problem for everyone. Sapkowski himself pronounces names differently every time (to troll people probably). I have this theory that names he made are meant only to look good when written, not spoken, so don't sweat about it. All the best.
All the kaedweni characters have southern Irish accents, not Scottish, henselt is the only on who has a Scottish accents and even that isn't a great Scottish accent
Loved the video, man just keep on going. BTW I have a big question for you! Q: which on of the northern kings do you like the most? 1. Foltest 2. Henselt 3. Radovid 4. Meve
Foltest I'd say, I do like Radovid as a character, just as he's really interesting, but for me I always see Foltest as the staple northern king, yourself?
gegen sw I'm more of follower of the novels and so that is why I went them. In the books Foltest is a wise and handsome ruler who was the main commander of the northern army at Brenna. Henselt is a good tactician and a genius when it comes to siege engines. Radovid, well I think we all know how he is. And Meve is basically a SAVAGE and a boss. Esterad is also a good ruler but kind of a scared person, in fact the only reason he helps Sigi with the coin and the Free Company is due to his concern for the freedom of the north and the fact his wife was insistent upon it, but I give the dude credit. He did die like a boss!
I thin Kaedwen is based off Scotland due to the climate its unicorn heraldry which is the national animal of Scotland and names given to the landmarks such as Carraig which means rock in irish
How exactly do people come up with the idea that Kaedwen could be Scotland? Might be a bit stereotypical of me to say this, but none of them are wearing kilts! But in all seriousness, more than likely all the countries are based on Poland and the countries surrounding it. So unless you have to cross a larger body of water to reach it (like skellige) then you can count anything like the British isles out. Honestly, if we assume that our maps are of any use in here and that Redania represents Poland, then geographically Kaedwen can only be a mix of Lithuania and Russia (specially with the whole "Union of Lublin" that happened in the past adn Redania and Kaedwen combining)
Great video :) I really don't like Henselt, so nice choice of a starting scene. If I had to choose between Aedirn or Kaedwen... I guess I'd say Kaedwen solely for the fact Kaer Morhen is located within its borders. ~Ashleyien
Hey george, i really love your videos cause they are very informative. I actually think kaedwen is based on a germanic Region/country. Because the kaedweni have very germanic names.
Yeah he's actually one of the better kings in the entire story, Spoiler Alert: especially when he desperately tries to defend his kingdom against Redania and dies in battle.
I couldn't say, but after Nilfgaard invaded Aedirn and basically scorched it to the ground, it truly fell significantly behind, hence why it fell so easily.
I think Kaedwen, Nilfgaard and Aedirn represent the German States before it was a unified Germany because during the Renaissance era and medieval era, Germany was divided into different states like Prussia, Westphalia, Saxony and Bavaria for example. I also think Nilfgaard resembles the Prussian empire, the Teutonic Knights and the Holy Roman Empire
This is the way I see it Redania....Poland. Aedirn.....let's say west and south Germany. Kaedwen....Prussia and even Russia. Kaer Morhen reminds me of parts of Siberia. Nilfgaard.....The ancient Roman Empire + a heavy influence of The Holy Roman Empire during the Habsburgs. From the former the name of "imperator" which means Emperor in latin, the overall disdain of facial hair and other traits they perceive as barbaric such not bathing regularly.Their religion of the Sun being rather similar to the Romans and their Sol invictus and the fact its located in the south. From the latter, the black uniforms and the dutch names. Temeria...Maybe France. Kovir and povir???? The Swiss.
+WitcherGeorge not the last as I remember. in the books an unknown royal man fights for their throne and claims himself as a descendant of Henselt. It just proves that Henselt slept with some royal women of Kaedwen
Geoege when you reach 10000 subs are you planning anything? a face reveal? will you dye your hair white? WILL YOU SLAY A DRAGON LIKE WITCHER GEORGE IN THE LORE.?!?!?
I actually cut a line where I referenced how I thought it was like Russia also haha (due to it's cold and unforgiving climate) I changed my mind as after looking online it appears to be based more on Germany, the online sources could be wrong though.
as for henselt roche had it comming. also roche kills an innocent priest and according to foltest he killed a lot of innocents during his interrogations that pirest is just another example. he killed innocent guards who just do their job and don't know about plans of loredo. henselt does the same with his squad. but I guess it doesn't bother you. in my playthrough henselt survived and dethmold assraped roche.
Y'know a kingdom is something to be reckoned with when a King can call himself a Unicorn and still come across as being fierce.
I think Kaedwan represents Russia. The weather matches and those cavalry units look like cossacks.
I do agree.
@Johnny Silverhand Like medivial Poland
Yeah lol once I saw their cavalry I knew immediately
The Scottish accent tho

I liked henselt especially when he started to defend his country in the books. he is the most underrated king.
Fat dude doing fun stuff Henselt did that in the game though and he was a different character in the books same as all of the kings
@@pablostacotruck2136 lol fuck that. roche asked for it.

Ard Carraigh in Irish means High Rock btw...roughly. And Ban Ard is roughly High Town.
Awesome!
High rock reminds of elder srolls
The part when henselt corners you in the house in the witcher 2 is one of my favourite scenes of the whole series
MEN OF KAEDWEN ATTACK!!!!!
Poor Fucking infantry but the PFI is a tamerian battalion.
Xyka 'tatumai indeed, I had a cousin that moved from temeria to Kaedwen and joined a Calvary regiment and he never stopped yelling about that
@@kriegofficergary6921 how's he doing?
Love the video! Could be Scotland as well with the Unicorn sigil and the harsh weather:)
Awesome video!
Pontar Valley keeps getting mauled over…Elves, rival royals, Nilfgaard
Suggestion time: Siegried of Denesle
Papa George delivering the best content as always
Thank you Rose

Scottish accents, the unicorn which is national animal there and the sceneries. I like the idea of it being like scotland

Nilfgaard is the holy roman empire

WitcherGeorge probably Foltest though I do like Meve as character out of all of them.
Meve, previous Rad and Henselt with Esterad are best rulers. Foltest is a good generalt but also he's a bad ruler.

soorena firouzabadi well in the books radovid becomes the best king and he doesn't care about witch hunts unlike witcher 3.

The crest of kaedwen is a unicorn, as is Scotlands
Witcher George, this is a great video, and I was wondering if you could do a video on Yennefer's unicorn (for those who don't know the story)
Sure!
holy crap man, nearly 10k subs. this is awesome.
Haha thank you man
Please give us a video on Nilfgaard.

You know what would be fucking awesome? A video on Kovir

very interesting kingdom. henselt doesn't treat non humans that bad in the game unlike foltest and demavend.
Yeah he's actually one of the better kings in the entire story,
Spoiler Alert:
especially when he desperately tries to defend his kingdom against Redania and dies in battle.
Can I have a question? So Temeria,Redania and Kaedwen are the 3 strong kingdoms and Aedirn is tailing back a bit how much exactly?
I couldn't say, but after Nilfgaard invaded Aedirn and basically scorched it to the ground, it truly fell significantly behind, hence why it fell so easily.
WitcherGeorge Thanks for explaining.
Nice video🙌
Thanks man
Witcher george do you think in the series netflix will also let the witchers from each school wear specific gear based on their school
Possibly, though if it's based on the books, you only really meet school of the wolf witchers (at least if it's gonna be based on the last wish)
Beautiful sharing

I really wish that opening scene had more “red” in it.

In Roaches path you choose if you stop Roach or let him kill Henselt
Guessing it will be Redania or Kovir next.

For Kaedwen! Henselt the best king
Doest the goverment of Kaedwen know where Kaer Morhen is because Sabrina was there?
was the king a real unicorn?
