    PLAYGRND is at its core the live set I've built over ten years of producing and performing with Ableton Push.
    Here I give a tour of some of the key ideas, features and sounds of PLAYGRND and use music I made recently with PLAYGRND as a jumping-off point.
    Why did I make PLAYGRND? Well:
    1) We lose inspiration gravitating between Push and our Mouse and Computer Keyboard.
    2) We get lost in (sometimes glorious but often frustrating) rabbit holes and it can feel like we have nothing to show.
    3) We often work alone. Nobody's asking us for anything.
    Sometimes, however, we have one of those rare moments of flow. And they are just the absolute best.
    PLAYGRND is all about flow; practical, creative and social.
    PLAYGRND aims to give an answer to the above problems, through an epic Live Set (The same one I've used for years), a Guide, Creative Challenges, and Community Support.
    It's a big ambition. It's huge. This year I'm trying to do things I'm scared of. I'll add a notch to that box.
    PLAYGRND is, I believe, the fastest way to make music with Push, and consists of a unique package of Ableton Live Instruments, Devices, Learning and Coaching. PLAYGRND includes:
    1) PLAYGRND Live Set. A bespoke, designed-for-Push Ableton Live set / Project File that will blow your socks off, designed from the ground up from 10 years of experience from a seasoned Push performer and product specialist. Get in Flow and stay there. It's built to be quick, light-weight on your cpu and powerful. It's constructed with custom samples and native devices, making it both unique and stable.
    2) PLAYGRND Guide & Walkthroughs. 100s of Videos covering every instrument, every device and function, with creative tips and suggestions for producing and performing with Push and PLAYGRND. Video Walkthroughs of how I take on Creative Challenges.
    3) PLAYGRND Challenges. 8+ weeks of Creative Challenges for you to explore and make something from. Focussed making and learning at the same time.
    4) PLAYGRND Feedback. Share your musical ideas with other PLAYGRNDers, with optional challenge sharing areas to get feedback within a private course community.
    5) PLAYGRND Community: [Early Bird Bonus] In the introductory period of PLAYGRND you'll have bonus access to a special, private (temporary) community where you can share ideas and questions with other PLAYGRNDers.
    It's been a 2-year journey to build PLAYGRND. I'm really excited to hear what you'll make with it.
    I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments below.

    To be honest when you were originally promoting this, I didn’t understand the point, but now that I see the tour this is perfect for me. I want to use my Push for live looping in combination with my dj decks and this will be so helpful. 🎉🎉🎉

    Thank you Andri. This provides a lot more insight as to how the UI functions and a bit better view into the versatility aspects. I would imagine one could also over-write some of the SR1 samples to provide their own preferred samples in the SR1 instrument?. Basically pick and choose to an individuals taste once they understand the configuration used?

    • @AndriSoren
      @AndriSoren  Рік тому +1

      Thank you in return @Stephanie Sante! I've just responded to your previous question with some more info. Regarding SR1 it's built with "guest" sample slots for exactly this - you can load any sample in and both customise PLAYGRND and add your own touch to the setup and the music you're making. Let me know if there's anything else I can clarify.

    interesting concept, personally i try to do the exact opposite and to start each set from a blank state in order to avoid sticking in a loop.

    • @AndriSoren
      @AndriSoren  Рік тому

      Thank you! That’s absolutely another nice way to go - it’s fun to explore new frontiers, and sometimes I invite “guest” instruments and effects into my setup so that there’s not too much mouse clicking. Everything evolves and a mixture of “I know this well” with “ooh this is new” is a nice balance to look for.

    Do you think you might reapply some of these track lanes to the new Drift synth? As far as performance, it’s proving to be a lean, good sounding, and versatile alternative to some of the other stock instruments.

    • @AndriSoren
      @AndriSoren  Рік тому +1

      This is a great idea and one that also occurred to me to add. I plan to make extra packs/add ons for PLAYGRND (perhaps as updates and/or separate, products depending on their size and scale, tbd) and there’s lots of room for adjustment and customisation. Some PLAYGRNDers are already integrating additional synths into the setup.

    • @AndriSoren
      @AndriSoren  Рік тому +2

      Hey James, thank you and for your question - Combining other things with PLAYGRND is absolutely possible. It's set up in a modular way so that you can plug in or out your own instruments, sounds or techniques. Essentially PLAYGRND is built to be used to quickly make things of a wide variety of genres, but its also completely possible to customise it and add new things.

    • @dalevanmail
      @dalevanmail Рік тому +2

      @@AndriSoren I’d love to see a video specifically on this “customization” aspect… Because, while I’m *blown away* by the effort you’ve put in to make a streamlined (but still flexible), mouse-free workflow, I make a lot of my own instrument and effect racks… So if there were an easy way for me to “wrap” my own racks into your workflow, that would be a key selling point for me. However, I realize that could potentially “break” the workflow you’ve designed.

    Is the push Bible included in this package Andri? Thanks

    • @AndriSoren
      @AndriSoren  Рік тому

      Hello @Roy Mitchell - the Push Bible is a separate product (more of an extensive guide to Push and creative workflows) whereas PLAYGRND is a suite of sounds and devices to use to make music ridiculously quickly. You could say the Push Bible is education and PLAYGRND is practice. There is a bundle on the WRKSHP page where you can get them both together. Thanks for your question!

      I also have this question!

    • @AndriSoren
      @AndriSoren  Рік тому +1

      Hello @Darrel Johnston, @Nicole Manson, thanks for this question! I did answer it the other day but UA-cam bugged and seems to have lost my reply. But, the answer is yes, you can make multiple genres of music with PLAYGRND, and people using it have already done so, each with their own touch and musical dna.
      That said, PLAYGRND is built largely on synthesiser-designed sounds, from classic subtractive, to always-special FM, to the sometimes esoteric Wavetable. So there is of course an "electronic" touch to it. It does also however have samples from real life (sounds of places I've recorded in the real world, like New York, India, Europe, etc) and you can import your own samples and sounds and loops and make what you want - I encourage this! PLAYGRND should grow with everyone using it.
      Personally I've made music with PLAYGRND ranging from ambient, soundtrack all the way to house, techno and things I can only label as other/experimental.
      Fun story: when I launched PLAYGRND I ad-libbed that "I guess you can't make Calypso-band music with PLAYGNRD" and just the other day a PLAYGRNDER dropped a very Hawaiian sounding idea in the community. How I smiled!
      I hope that helps - do check my recent videos, they are all made with this version of PLAYGRND, and I'll be releasing more jams, breakdowns over the next weeks. In the meantime I've just made a tour video here: ua-cam.com/video/SmZ-aMfbOM0/v-deo.html

I do hope I can get everything off it though there were years of free patches and samples, etc. I need to get my Beatstep Pro fixed too. I bought it when it came out and it has the connection issue.
