I use strap hinge scrapbooks from Creative Memories. I have been using them for 16 years and never had a problem with the staples falling out. CM albums are guaranteed for a lifetime. They also have side loading sleeves that fit into their albums if you want to just slip a page into a protector. I love the look and quality of Creative Memories.

Very well presented. Creative Memories makes the strap hinge albums....made in the USA and great quality. To assemble pull the middle cover out and and pages at the back.

Thank you for this! It was great. Remember that Joann, Michaels and Hobby Lobby all have 50-% off coupons. The D-Ring also comes in 12x12 sizes and great colors too!

Hi, Jessica! Thanks for your question. I've made several bulky albums before with both strap hinge and postbound albums. Ultimately, I recommend using a postbound with extension posts. With the scrap hinge, there is the chance that the "staple" (metal fastener) that the strap runs through can break. That happened to one of my pages and now it hangs out of the album awkwardly. Good luck with your scrapbook!

Hi my name is Rene and I am interested in scrapebooking , mainly because of my job. I am a Attendant at a Arts Center where guests rent out or building for events, such as plays, concerts, beuty Pagents etc... I just bought a scrapebook kit which was just a basic kit for beginners and it was a Post Bound album. I enjoyed your tutorial it helped alot and answered all my questions that I had in my mind. Thank You.

I have only used strap hinge albums from Cm wonderful product. Another company called Memories for life also carry strap hinge albums also excellent. Started by same person that was co-founder of CM. You should always use page protectors to keep your pictures clean of finger prints, spills etc. Helps for longevity of product. The product might be more expensive but well worth it. Often times run sales. Albums can also be engraved which adds a beautiful touch. Making memory albums takes a while to make, expensive but should be preserved in the best way. This is your life story.

I use a strap hinge album by Pioneer that doesn't use the paper with metal fasteners. Instead, the straps slip through the same page protectors as used for D-ring albums. The album has is supposed to hold up to 300 pages, but I only have about 60 pages right now. Another option to avoid pesky posts is to use Snapload, also by Pioneer. Snapload allows you to replace posts with plastic strap hinges for any postbound album. I'm not affiliated with Pioneer in any way in case anyone's wondering!

I recently tried my first post bound album and one major advantage I see is that there is a very small gap between the pages so a double page layout looks much more cohesive. I plan to stick with post bound in the foreseeable future.

I just put a post bound 12x12 scrapbook in my cart at Walmart. It was less than 9 dollars and has artwork on the cover. I didn't know what post bound was, that's why I'm here. Thanks for the information.

Thank you, jesenko6! Oooh! That's a great idea. I will def make an episode on how to use those leftover scraps. You'll have to wait a few weeks though because I already have the next few tutorials filmed! You can look for more videos every Tuesday. Also, I'm not sure what these "tabs" are that you're talking about. I don't usually buy kits, but I promise I will investigate and find out!

THx for this great video comparison! Pls keep in mind that the strap hinge albums are still available from Creative Memories (they call them flex hinge, but it's the same system).
There's one thing I miss here: I would have liked to see a full album (with at least 15 to 20 pages) opened! I know how it looks in a D-ring-album, and I know that the pages are flat out in a strap hinge album, because that's what I use. But what does it look like in a post-bind-album? They don't lie flat, do they?

Sorry you don't like the strap hinge style as I do, but we all need to have different likes. The strap hinge albums lost it's appeal because of Creative Memories going out of business. And the one thing that is great about them is that they lay flat when you open the album and if you have a 2 page spread it is more uniform and looks like one page for your layout.

I think I prefer the post bound over the D-ring only because it doesn't need a sheet protector. You can embellish your pages more if you aren't confined by a sheet protector.

I'm sad to hear that the hinge album is going out of style. I know they are a bit tricky to add pages, but I love the look of them. Espcecially with a 2 page spread. I've got about 30 pages in most of mine and have never had aproblem with the staples coming out. The D ring is ok, but the pages don't lay side by side. And the post bound, well can you imagine how many added posts I'd need for 30 pages! lol Well I guess I'll use what ever I can get. Thanks for the tutorial.

This will prob sound silly but I at the present am using a post bound scrapbook and personally I don't care for them. what I am wanting to know is can I use the scrapbook pages from the post bound and use them with a 3 ring binders? Like make punch holes bigger, or make new holes? The post bound is already full of pages, protectors but just don't like it. it would prob be expensive to buy all the protectors N such for the 3 ring binders. I've already got my 3 ring binders but needing to know if someway I can reuse the post bound pages. Plz make me happy and say YES!! 😊 Thank you for your help...🤗

I made a post-bound photo book and added many pages, I think around 30 pages. But when I open the pages they are not laying flat. Have you had this problem. Do you think I added too many pages?

  • @MichelleNaomiConner
    @MichelleNaomiConner 13 років тому

Using the "D" ring album I think your pages should go the other way. I think you need to flip the pages that you have in there. So when you close the book your pages would be on the straight part of the D

I have several strap hinge albums and some of them are in rather sorry shape. In their defense, I probably put more pages in them than I should have but they were rather pricey and I was trying to be frugal. Also, my children have looked at them many times over the years and probably weren't as careful with them as I would have been. But I am making them for my children so I don't want to tell them they CAN'T look at them.
