Bayonetta 3 was created by Platinum Games in 2022 for the Nintendo Switch, and Bayonetta 3 is the third instalment in the Bayonetta series. Bayonetta 3 and the Bayonetta series in general is sort of a spritiual successor to Devil May Cry, and in this Bayonetta 3 Trash or Treasure video, I will be explaining why Bayonetta 3 is a bit of A Rocky End. I kinda dropped this game after a while, the story a mess and I personally think in the first 2 games was a lot better
You definitely are not alone thinking like that. I love the first game, before this third atrocious I was considering buying the Nintendo Switch. But after I watched its playthroughs, not in a million years. Mf, this is the worst game I ever saw in my life. It is ridiculously nonsensical.
Personally I dropped the game a couple Verses in - the tone of the story and Bayo herself were just all-around off for me.
The exuberance of the previous games only ever popped up now and then during a couple cutscenes but then the game throws you right back into the drab world you actually get to directly experience, full of boring enemy designs, imprecise combat and a severely toned down, almost boring version of Bayo herself. Add to that Viola being obnoxious in both combat and especially story and yeah... I was definitely very disappointed.
As I understand it the ending angered a lot of people, but I never even made it that far, I just got bored of the game - and I've been a massive Platinum fan ever since their inception.
If you haven't yet just watch the final fights at the end of UA-cam. If you know Luka and Bayonetta you will start to really hate what you see.

While I admire Platinum for TAKING RISKS with Bayo 3, Bayo 2 remains MY favorite outing so far. While I was perplexed by most things surrounding "Viola," at least the Baal Zebul boss battle was AWESOME, lol! 🐸☔💃🏻🗣🎶💥
Baal Zebul boss battle? Do you mean the fight against the giant frog?
@@samueldeandrade8535 The fight against the giant frog was "regular" Baal" in ancient Egypt. 🐸 Baal Zebul is when Bayo rips out her ❣in Paris & transforms her from frog to Opera Diva in a rythm game style fight against the Singularity controlled French Bayo & her demon insect swarm. 👩🏻🎤🗣🐝🐝🐝💥

@@samueldeandrade8535 For me, it was the UNEXPECTED, & first time reveal of Baal's humanoid form, that she was as Opera Diva, then proceeds to use her vocal skills/performance to decimate the enemy swarm. Then on the meta level, this scenario seems to be a direct alusión to the movie "The Sixth Sense" which had a scene with a marriage of high-brow yet pop-flavored musical performance juxtaposef with a life-or-death battle, simultaneously. Plus, I find Baal to be one the more charming od Bayo's demons - unlike that treacherous Gomorrah, lol! 💇🏻♀️🐲
@@KelvinMMoore69 well, yes, the Opera Diva thing is great, based on a myth, if I am not mistaken, and the inspiration from the great movie The Fifth Element (Sixth Sense is some other movie with Bruce Willis) amazing. BUT, you know what it would be better? Baal Zebul singing and the player slaying with Bayonett. Or having the option to play as Bayonetta or as Baal Zebul, or alternating between the two.
I enjoyed this game but your right I think 1 & 2 are a lot better. My personal preference is 1 because the skill ceiling is a lot higher and the combat feels right. After all the highest difficulty removes witch time so the game encourages you to master its combat. In both 2 & 3 the amount witch time you get is not consistent regardless of how well you time your dodge/counter. Plus the first game still has the best conclusion.
The witch time is untrue, for bayo3 atleast(2 is just janky with it)
Bayo3 is based on timing your dodge, dodge early and you get a super short bayo2 witchtime, dodge at the right time and it is always the full 4seconds witchtime

Since this is a multiverse scenario Bayo 2 is from a universe that follows a very similar path to Bayo 1. And Bayo 3 is just a grown up version of little Ceraza from bayo 1 that also followed a similar path to the others as you can see her hold the Loki cards and the bayo 1 doll. Except she wasn’t locked in a casket for hundreds of years

7:10 Did you try limiting the frame rate to 60fps? Higher FPS in certain PC ports can cause timing issues.
I have not. That might be a good idea. Shame though if that's the case and I can't take full advantage of my PC's specs.
@@TrashorTreasure Although the PCGamingWiki states Bayo 1 is capped at 60fps. So maybe some other screwy stuff is happening under the hood.
Hey, could've been worse. Could've been capped at 30fps. Like, for example, Croc 2, Baldur's Gate, Metal Wolf Chaos HD or Okami HD. There's apparently over 1,000 PC games without 60fps support.
My favorite platinum games/Clover studios game is still God Hand. Such a unique and fun game, but Bayonetta 1 is also one of my favorites. That is to say that Bayonetta 3 is really disappointing. Not just from a story perspective, but a gameplay perspective as well. Part of the reason why I enjoyed God hand, Bayonetta 1 and MGR is because it focuses on one main character kicking ass. There's no other characters unless you have dlc or unlockable characters, but sadly bayonetta 3 goes the trend of dmc and fills the campaign with 2 other playable characters who don't feel as fun.

b3 was fine but i didn't like the storytelling or the multiverse drama. they shown that the bayo we play as in 3 wasn't the one from the old continuity... id be fine if that was like a thing for that specific universe but what makes it bad is when they retconned the pass games and make them separate bayos regressing character development and progression treating the character as less of a character and more of a assembly belt of bayos they can just push out with no depth to them.
-the story left alot to be desired the variant bayos show up with no story or attachment and are just there for the outfits and weapons, plot points are left out such as the archs not always being bayo and that not every bayo is an arch eve. Cairo jeanne was an arch french rosa was one, several jeannes on the moon appear (no they werent all bayos in jeannes outfits some had jeannes face shown such as one in her bayo 2 biker outfit but black with black hair, and one wearing the Umbran Komachi outfit from 1)
-im fine with luka and bayonetta in 3... the issue is that it had no build up whatsoever and likely only happened because viola exists... from another universes bayluka. luka in this universe barely interacts with bayo or even viola. people bring up luka and bayo in bayo 1 as having chemistry but forget that's a different version and even then they make sure to shut down his advances with him eating dirt every time... it was clear she never shown interest as was just playing around with him....something even further cementing that fact, was the events in bayo 2 back when it was the same bayo... that she still doesn't see him as a love interest where she still humiliates him and his journal entries writing that bayo and jeanne where lovers.
-lukas sudden fairy change was out of nowhere and never hinted he was always a just a side character that wasnt that important and i feel they did this just to make him interesting.... but made it feel so forced... then implying the luka from the old continuity died and merged into b3's which makes things awkward when the game hints that b3 is actually a grown version of the child bayo from one that the old luka took care of.
-as for viola shes ok...but seems very anime in tone compared to every other character in the series. i think its too early to kill off the icon of the series and replace them with a limited new character even more so when you remember the series wasnt exactly big to begin with,. i also find it odd when you realize the bayo that gave the "bayonetta" title to viola wasnt the bayo we play as in 3... she was dark eve ...another variant.
-personal complaint about jen being the new bayo, i absolutely love her but not really as bayo... her tone was very flat in the game and at times the British accent wasn't authentic and dropped at times she took a light airy tone with her... my hope was that for the next game they hire an actual brit person to provide the voice... i cant give you a memorable quote from bayo 3 like i can with the previous 2 games. this bayo being watered down didnt help.
the antagonist was bad and very one note.
the game hints that b3 is actually a grown version of the child bayo from one and with that kind of doesn't really make me care because i know this bayo's just another alt... kamiyas blame the players approach for not understanding the ending and games horrible writing makes me just wanna let go of the series as hes backing up that the series will continue on with this fallen timeline... and for those who didnt like it just to not play forward
b3 was just an underwhelming entry outside of the gameplay, was a huge fan of b1-2, b3 put me in life support from the dread
Bayo from 2 is still the same Bayo from Bayo 1. The Bayo 1 we see in the end is likely the Bayo from the game's opening who died to Singularity.
(And besides, that is just a fanservice scene to have all 3 designs on-screen at once.)

I do admire the risks they took. With the free Bayonetta that was never imprisoned they can do whatever they want because Main Bayonetta is still outthere.

Fair review but i have to disagree about a few things
Bayonettas DPS is much higher in bayo3 than it is in bayo2, in bayo2 she needs a lot of lifesupport to hit as hard as she used to, and it doesnt help that enemies in 2 block so much, making damage even lower!
And while demonslave has its issues the same as Umbran Climax, they really dont make bayo as vulnerable if you know what youre doing, que up attacks with them and let go of ZL and whale with bayo herself finishing with a winkslave etcetc, theres options to keep the action going without letting bayo herself sit and get hit.
Of course you most definitely can just whale with the demons too and get good results

Gotta disagree heavy with you on the characters. Everyone in the game has very distinct personalities especially Bayonetta. The plots of the previous games have been based on things she wants to do. In the third game she's given a task because she has to.
Character action games don't really work without the character half....

@@godzilla4189 haha. Yeah, opinions can be different. But some statements are just valid no matter what. For example, "I have two eyes", "I'm using a hat in my profile pic", "Bayo 3 is the worst of the franchise by some metric", etc.
This game is the strongest and weakest bayo game tbh
