- Author Douglas Murray says England is planning to “take the knee” in front of Iran at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, while Iran’s government “massacres” and “pillages” its own country.
“Because of women having the temerity to ask to be allowed to walk around freely without a hijab on,” Mr Murray told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
“The Iranian players will stand there as their government assaults women in their country, and it’s the England team opposite them taking the knee for something they have no involvement in and need say nothing about.”

Thankfully someone stepped in and told these teams that they are not allowed to wear the rainbow armbands. They are there to play football not play politics. If they felt soo strongly about these issues then they should not have gone to Qatar in a sign of protest. When players turn a sport into a protest i loose interest. 1) I paid to watch a sporting event to be entertained I did not pay to attend a political event and 2) i just do not care about their cause. I pay them to entertain me I care not about their personal beliefs. Never will. I stopped watching the NBA and NFL over protests and MLB is hanging by a thread.
