No matter what, the back of this t-shirt MUST say, “How’s that, Ben?”
That is a great idea!
Yes please.
Yessssss
💯
Lol just before I read this comment, I was like, "I just want a t-shirt that says 'How's that, Ben?'" 😅
I like the idea that the winning votes will be the super vague ones so that anyone who ever wears the shirt has to explain it in detail every single time someone asks
😂
If I'm being honest, my favorite food heist is when Ben/Dan raided the company fridge. Maybe not actually a heist, but it made me chuckle.
I think the best bad story idea should be the story of Food Heist Prison. The amalgamation of all the food heist villains into one story
This!
This is the comment I came looking for... Food Heist Prison would work so well as a shirt
Someone should make a Food Heist prison shirt anyways. I’d buy it in addition to the winning shirt.
I was thinking a shirt with the blueprints of the prison.
The weekend at Vaders one would be literally the best t-shirt ever
I already see it: You killed my father! How do you know?!
Whatever the shirt ends up being, the line on the back of the shirt (up by the shoulders, just below the neck) needs to be "How's this, Ben?"
I must voice my disappointment over the lack of the suitcase full of meat food heist in the chosen food heists. It was one of my favorites.
Took me forever but I finally started reading your books, Dan. Binged I Am Not A Serial Killer and Mr. Monster in a day a piece. Completely love them and am now doubly excited you'll be writing in the Cosmere.
Definitely a lot of good options but the Gnocchi Food Heist and Titanic 2 Sink Harder bad story idea have to be the best
I'd love for the baby food one to be called the mommy mafia, because they'd do anything for family!
10:58 you both hear the voice. Ben wakes up and you disappear
How's that Ben?
When you're reading the Bands of Mourning and you get the new podcast notification... life is good
Coming in and seeing the shirt? Fantastic.
We're not President Tuminez's daughters, but her nieces! 😂 either way, we're slowly converting over the rest of the family.
great shirts!!!
The Dandon and Bran show!
I feel like #16, the idea about everyone suddenly forgetting how to read and write, could be an amazing idea. I could even see it occurring in a Cosmere setting on a world whose shard was Understanding, or Comprehension, or something like that. People learn literacy by way of studying text of increasing difficulty, as we do, but also by connecting with a form of investiture which is related to intellect or understanding of common ideals. The Shard shatters, connection is ruined, and people can't quite seem to call to mind how the script is meant to look or be written, and when looking at texts, they get a kind of brain fog similar to Dalinar's. Could have elements of the Spellplague, with a desperate rush to regain lost knowledge.
13:45 do a 80s sci-fi book cover with that unique vived but washed out coloring where everything is solid colors. The scene depicted is a courtroom with everyone in suits, but in the plantif seat sits a steriotypical green alien who is also dressed in a suit
Free fall burrito world is a classic
I was sad there was no ice cream in the pants food heist in the bracket. A tragedy of epic proportions.
I've been waiting for this.. Thanks!
Jack black - Breeze for mistborn. Just think on it. 😆
Need my weekly dose of Bran and Dan!! GAAAAAHHH
The Peaches song is everywhere!
A DOLPHIN GYMNASIUM
ADORING CALCIUM
#14, the one where aliens "claim" earth, should have totally been named "The Un-Discovered Country"
I dare you to put one of these into the next SA novel as a side plot for The Lopen or something
A bad story idea for the Lopen. A food heist for Lift.
I think I'd respect Brandon less if he didn't!
In a world where people forget how to read and write you could do a farce where people confuse homophones
I'm a little bummed that the Milk Mafia and Dairy Don didn't make the list. I thought that one was great!
clearly the food heights tshirt should be food heighst prison in a wheres wally style image where you can see all the cells and each has a different food heister in it
FOOOOOOOD HEEEEEEIST
One T-shirt concept for the "Aliens using our legal code to dominate the world" could be an image of 3 aliens (that look like the Antz characters), with one at the center pointing its index finger up. And above the image, a text that reads "3 more amendments".
“Based on the Best-Selling T-Shirt” 😂
In 'Suddenly No One Can Read Or Write', phones with Audible accounts are suddenly worth a lot of money.
Like, millions for ones with more than 1000 books.
Billions after a century or so
You tap on the picture and slide the thing back to the start, and you get a good story.
This can no longer be recreated, since it relied on someone being able to navigate a website and find a good book based on other things they've read about that book.
But that's all gone now.
I mean it's there, but...
You know...
And the story is about someone trying to keep the Audible servers from shutting down now that no one can read instructions anymore
The number 16 for bad story ideas that no one can read or write reminds me of an older anime "A Wind Named Amnesia" where everyone looses their memory so no one can read, write, or do anything. I never finished it but it started out pretty good. It just got a little too adult for my taste.
The Sisyphus bad story idea is like a story from Alastair Reynolds where a civilization created a city that rolls on rails around the entire world so they can watch the sky without blinking (literally a character does this).
I still think the time travel disaster tourism thing would make a bomb ass social deduction video game.
I think you nailed that
Chicken Wing Embezzlement: "What's in the sauce?!?"
The Aliens bound to follow our laws idea reminded me of Year Zero by Robert Reid. -- Advanced Intergalactic Aliens discover Earth music and decide it's the best thing ever, then spend decades copying and distributing hundreds of trillions of copies of every song ever published before discovering that our strict copyright laws mean that they now owe more than the entire wealth of their civilization... so they'd be better off just destroying us.
Where can we see a closeup of the F ast urious shirt?
These bad stories should ALL be wrapped up into an anthology series
The Great British Bakoff should be a comedy with Mr.Bean being the cop and Pierce Bronson being the Murder.
I think the ultimate bad guy in the Cosmere is Alumini-man!
Okay but for real dolphins have a really great pr rep
furthering the topic idea: These 16 food heists as bad story ideas and the 16 bad story ideas if they turned out to be a food heist!
Bad Story Idea: There's a June Madness bracket tournament to see who among 11 of the world's elite writers comes up with the best food heist story idea. Twist: the author of the winning story must then stop their own heist as it is attempted by a team comprised of the other 10 writers. The winning story is about a sea-food heist. Double-twist: all 11 authors are in on it and they pull off the heist flawlessly because they collaborated on the story together. I call it "Ocean's Eleven"...wait. Dangit.
Inception x Drop Dead Fred, but the villain commits heists using the Donnie Darko rabbit.
I can't believe I listened to this entire recap episode.
This was the most on topic episode of this podcast ever!!!
Dan is right, Jaws is the best movie ever, but I'm pulling for Weekend at Vader's because the idea is amazing and plus, STAR WARS. And while I think I'm #TeamSnackoderms for the food heists... the only thing I know for certain is that, like others have said, the back of the shirt absolutely needs to say "How's that, Ben?"
Dave Bautista shedding a tear after getting a Hollywood handshake would be an amazing scene.
They were furious, he was faster... Jack the Car Jacking Car. Coming to a t-shirt near you this December.
Bad story idea: child raised by dragons rip natsu
I feel like if you go far enough away and just have manifesting your imaginary friend for the purposes of combat and adventure as a standard part of a setting sounds pretty weird but fun
It sounds like an adventure. A bizarre adventure, even.
Isn't manifesting imaginary friends for the purposes of combat and adventure the whole point of Stormlight Archives, though?
@@AndreSantos-kr3yu nah nah nah thats bonding to another entity that existed separate to you.
Im talking everybody manifests a weird psychic who knows what, and some people decoded pushing kids to use them for combat was a good idea.
Heck if anything its closer to JOJOs and stands
not exactly idea but there is a manga series called "ruri dragon" about a girl who's father is a dragon who suddenly develops dragon powers and has to try and fit in. it's cute
I had a dream a few years ago about an illegal underground alligator smuggling ring. Reckon that one gets my vote ^.^
The potato story I believe it because potatoes are from the nightshade family and when they were brought to Europe everyone thought they were poisonous. Tomatoes too.
This... this is why I watch this podcast.
Vikings vs Cthulu and the Hesti elephants are my two choices.
Great British Fake Off is already on TV. There’s an episode of Psych with that exact premise, except the show is American Idol, featuring Tim Curry as a spoof of Simon Cowell.
For my shoutout, I was gonna vote for mouthwash and chewing gum (from fan x 22) regardless, but it didn’t make the seeds, so I’ll go through and choose. (-Bandicoot81)
You guys are talking a lot about Dave Bautista in this episode. Just yesterday I was thinking Dave Bautista would make a good Dalinar Kholin.
I'd really like a "That's StuBad" shirt, moreso than a bad story idea or a food heist shirt.
And on a different subject, if you're still looking for a replacement name for Intentionally Blank, how about "MidwesterNerds"?
The reality show aspect of: Titanic 2, sink harder reminds me a bit of the whole entertainment commentary that the Acts of Caine does, and I'd be very curious to see if you have read Stover's series, and what you think of it.
I’m sad the Austin Brisket Les Miserables Musical Food Heist didn’t make the list!
Suitcase full of meat not making the cut is literally the wurst case scenario.
Titanic: Sink Harder has been done too, in the Cragbridge Hall Series by Chad Morris.
44:00 greaaaat you just broke the bracket
Suitcase full of meat is a great band name
the child raised by dragons reminds me of the story Brandon already wrote (within another story) about a dog who wants to be a dragon
Just start printing the "Titanic 2: Sink Harder" shirts now.
Can’t imagine a better T-shirt than Snackiderms
I do quite like the "aliens conquer earth using legal code" concept. A bit of Childhood's End, a bit of Q judging humanity using the justice systems of our past in Star Trek.
Spargel heist is a good idea for a german comedy.
The food heist names sound like metalcore/emo songs from the early 2000s. 😂
That alien idea sounds like a Shonen manga
I'm some weeks behind with the podcasts, and hearing them talk about "Titanic 2: Sink Harder" now is quite ironical. No offense but I find the timing of this one to be hilarious.
If there isn't the Dairy Don and Milk Mafia one I'm not voting out of protest
Child raised by dragons has been done, to an extent. Travel Light, by Naomi Michison. Good book. Worth a read.
Also, in Australia I've always heard gnocchi pronounced with an O like lock, not go. I didn't realise that's what you were talking about the first time around, until I saw it written out in the comments.
Suitcase Full of Meat is the name of my metal band.
I don't wear tshirts anymore but this shirt I want it 😆😂🤣
For the great British fake off a part of me is really wanting to see the master baker from Brandon's original idea have to team up with the undercover agent to catch the criminal, and both of them are in over their head but for completely different reasons.
#6 Free fall burrito world sounds like Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
If secret project 4 is two giant Titans and humans living on their surface I'm calling hax. Xenoblade reference
The freefall one sounds a lot like the sky islands of Tears of the Kingdom
Dan: starts talking about food heist
Me: Oooo! That was a good one!!!
Brandon: *bad story idea* Do you remember this one?
Me: Noooo....?
😳
I've forgotten to mention it but, did you guys know that Taylor swift is a fan Dan wells ?
The last frase of his song illicit affairs says " and you Dan well, for you will ruin myself a little million times" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"Kid raised by dragons" is something that happened within the in-world history of Cressida Cowell's "How to Train Your Dragon" series.
I'm starting to think these two might be fans of Dave Bautista. Lol I do really like his fancast of Dalinar, if I could make one casting happen in a storm light tv show
I am disappointed you didn't successfully have a Peaches song discussion with the peaches food heist.
Luke Gorgeous 😂👌
Adoooonalsium
Am I seeing correctly that I have to join Reddit to vote?
51:00 im voting for Suddenly, not because it is bad, nor because it is better, but only because I dont want JTCJC running off against TTDT later in the bracket and I think this is the easiest time to kill it off
The memory security guard one could be a future where corporations steal your personal information directly from your memory and VPNs have branched into providing you security for your brain as well. The whole thing could be represented with anthropomorphic characters in the style of Osmosis Jones.
Hi Brandon, I don't know if you'll see this but if you do I have a quick question. Anyone else in the comments who sees this is also welcome to chime in. I'm writing a book with two different main perspectives. The perspective switches every other chapter between character 1 and character 2. Character one's perspective takes place over the course of one day for (theoretically) one fourth of the first book, and character 2's perspective takes place over 14 years for (theoretically) one fourth of the first book. Each chapter jumps forwards a few years in time for character 2. At a certain point, these timelines will synch up and the two character's perspectives will both take place in the present.
While I see that this is very possible, as most things are possible when writing, and I believe I've been doing an alright job (I've added the year date to each chapter), would you happen to have any advice for this particular style of writing? Are there any pitfalls I should look out for? Any advice would be helpful, and even if you don't have time to reply I would like you to know that you've been a massive help to me in my writing endeavors.
If you like the great British fake off idea read The Golden Spoon by Jessa Maxwell!
3. In Canada.
Freefall world has been done, with trees rather than burritos. See the Integral Tree by Larry Niven
Food Heist extended Universe = FHEU
I'll be honest - the great British fake off but the murderer is Hannibal Lecter I'd pay to see
