    Look good and the sort of thing I might consider next time I'm getting three-season boots. Would be good to hear how waterproof they are as usually weary of stuff that isn't Goretex. Also how the uppers last against heather bashing!

      @@WalkWithWallace yeah, nice wide fitting boots, for my big plates of meat. The Karraigs are definitely robust and apparently will take a basic crampon, although I probably wouldn't test that out on serious terrain.

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  Рік тому +1

      Hi Lyle, to date they're still waterproof and they've seen quite a bit of action. The Targee is essentially the Ridge Flex without the Flex bit, same tred pattern and fit.

  • @cairnscrow8713
    @cairnscrow8713 2 роки тому +1

    Thanks for the review Robin. I have the Ridgeflex and love them but agree sole could be a bit more robust. The NXIS EVO look very interesting. Would you say you had the same toebox room in the new ones as the Ridgeflex? Iask because I've tried the Targhee boots previously and the toebox was narrower and didn't suit me

    • @WalkWithWallace

    Nice review Robin 👍 Iam actually looking for something like these as I only have a pair of trail runners for summer and winter B1 boots that I feel are to heavy and stiff for days like in the Galloways in winter. Do you think these would be up to the job in the Galloways ? How are the ridge flex waterproofing holding up after a bit of abuse?

      @@outlawedlandscapes cheers Scott. There's always a trade off, in my experience fabric boots don't last as long as traditional leather boots. But the latter need more maintenance. Plus I walk on my forefoot and always kill the soles before the upper.

      @@WalkWithWallace fair point! My boots are great, but sometimes the sheer weight can be a pain in the neck, so I’m always wondering about alternatives - even if it’s just for 2/3 season. The INOV8’s look pretty good as well, but will be interested to see how the Keen’s work out for you👌🏻

      Hi Bob, so far so good. Starting to show some minor wear and tear but that's expected, they've had some abuse. I find them really comfortable, the non waterproof version is probably the best option as these do wet out eventually in boggy terrain.

    I was just looking for a pair of lighter weight boots for easier days. Thought about trail runners, but I like my feet to stay dry. Didn't know about these Keens. Picked up a pair of La Sportiva tx4 gtx mids. Similar idea, very comfy, light, waterproof, stick well to rock on my test up and around ben a'an. I like the look of that heel lock system though. The ankle support is spot on, your heel is nice and snug with that fit. Still wearing these or the leather version, I'd give them a solid 7/10. Lose a couple of points as they could be more waterproof.
