    I love the build up in Tank. They tease the chorus so excellently in the pre-chorus by punctuating each line with "Like a tank, I'ma," and it's so good. I'm not sure how I feel about being freaky fishy, but overall I think the song is great.

    as an nmixx stan, thank you for actually giving them the time of day rather than ‘i didn’t like their debut, they suck goodbye’. i once saw a tik tok saying ‘nmixx stands are so annoying because they never shut up about how talented the group is’ which is just a stupid thing to complain, but also talking about their talents is needed because most won’t look past not liking oo

      I am not a NMIXX stans, but it's obvious how much potential this group has. The fact that they sung live their two debut songs perfectly while dancing like crazy really showed their potential. With the right comeback, they'll definitely blow up. When it comes to performance, JYPE is the best company for sure. Honestly they are the only artists (from those who still go lol) that put performances that are actually worth it.

      I think as someone who wants to get into Nmixx because I enjoy the members it can be hard to get past the music aspect. I will of course wish them luck and hope the best for them but I can't find myself becoming a fan until I truly enjoy their music. I think a lot of people feel this way. They have nothing against the members. If anything the members themselves are loved by Kpop fans and recognized for their talents. Their most viral moments have to do with the members' talents and personality like the Lily singing clips for example. Except on the toxic side of social media I see nothing but praise for the members themselves. That being said, anyone that says "x stans are annoying for praising their faves for being talented" is ridiculous. Every stan does that lol

    The Move Your Body stage makes me think they would do really well with something like Mamamoo's 2014-2016 era music. songs like You're the Best, Piano Man, and Um Oh Ah Yeah had fairly simple coreography with lots of adlibs and improv opportunies making for super fun stages. These girls are so good at engaging an audience, they just need more room to do so.

    • @dubblebubbletoilandtrouble6646
      @dubblebubbletoilandtrouble6646 Рік тому +19

      You know, one thing I've been thinking about Kpop for a while is that the choreographed dance routines, though fun to watch, tend to completely drain any sense of spontaneity from idols. I love to see that performers are enjoying performing and are really present, and imho it's a lot harder to see that when they just do the same thing each time (although some notable groups/individuals do manage to transcend this barrier). So though I've accepted that this is just part of Kpop rn and I do enjoy watching it despite that, I also find myself gravitating to certain soloists and groups like Mamamoo who make room for adlibs and fun on stage or with other members. Like I get that group members are discouraged from trying to make themselves "stand out", which might be why individual members don't tend to adlib (gotta dodge those "pick-me" allegations), but seriously, sometimes I wish group members would at least just...I don't know, ~look~ at each other once in a while! Show me that you're having some fun being up there with one another! Mamamoo are masters of this and they suck me in every time.
      Anyway, as you said, Nmixx does seem really promising with regard to engaging an audience and I also hope that they'll loosen up the Kpop formula in that way. I think that if they did that, their impact would be far more revolutionary than just an "experimental" song or two.

    Jype is definitely planning something big for them i kinda get this strategy like being left out of popularity against others in the beginning and then get the spotlight later on, they hava a debut that doesn't do good in terms of what call as "normal" or "usual" success that average fans can enjoy, gained popularity and increase mv streams and album sales but on performance wise it's top tier that they definitely dominate to every music performance and get praise by people. Next one is the showcase of their overall talent that gives kpop fans an insight of how far they can reach, that creates a psychological effect to peoples minds that they want to see more performance to them and after 5 months of their debut many of fans cannot stop their urge to think when their comeback is, it's like a kid that is addicted to sweets and wants more. That is probably the strategy

    NMIXX's standard is insane for a rookie group. They sang most or all O.O and TANK stages live during debut era music shows. And until now they had done like 7 to 9 cover stages, all sang live. They don't only sing it, but sing it well as well. Imo their most insane stages were the whole series of stages in their first LA KCON. And yes, watching those performances it's unbelievable that this group is only 3 months old that time.
    Imo NMIXX's potential were best shown in those cover stages. Which is very sad because those 'MIXXPOP' songs kind of hinders their true potential. Their coming comeback song DICE is also a MIXXPOP song. If JYPE insists to do it this way, the must step up the game otherwise it's a waste of the girls' talent.

I had balcony seats that night and throughout the night I was standing and dancing to the performances like at every other concert however there were some rude people behind that were telling me to sit down even though there were a few people around us standing up plus people who were sitting that were telling is to stand up and dance since it is a concert after all. However those people kept making rude remarks throughout the concert and I felt terrible but then nmixx came out and performed that song and it made me so happy it was unexplainable I felt secure and safe. I really do like O.O. and tank and I’m just really looking foward to seeing them again in kcon la plus hopefully they will have a comeback soon!!

    You made a super awesome point about the Kcon performance!
    I think what would really make them stand out is for them to take influence from Miss A instead of Twice from their company or Aespa (who’s currently running the show). They need to slap us around with some deep vocals and strong dances. We don’t need more cutesy groups or girl crush. We need more power like what you showed in the video!

    i cannot stand anything about o.o. BUT tank is flawless with one of the best choreographies I’ve even seen in kpop, the styling is a perfect mash up of high fashion and well… fishy. freaky fishy fishy sits at the same table as the 2nd gen english lines that make you laugh in the best way but then genuinely get stuck in your head for years to come

    they remind me of early Mamamoo, weirdly! it’s their stage presence, connection to the music, and easy confidence when performing, really makes them stand out in this years gg debuts. even if no one else believes in NMIXX, the members themselves do. all they need is good music that plays to their strengths. they are hugely talented and i think born to tour where they can hype and connect with their audiences. i’m just a casual listener but the way i am PRAYING for a pivot to a pop/R&B influenced sound 🔥

    From the beginning, I thought these girls could very well be the most talented kpop group in history. They seem to have it all. Vocals? Check. Dancing? Check. Visuals? Check. Stage presence and charisma? Check. The only thing they don't have is good songs, and its SUCH a shame. I do believe that they will be a top tier 4th gen group, but only once JYP gives them a song that can match their talent.

Haewon really stood out to me there and their cover of Thunderous ..Jiwoo really shone..in.each of their performances..the members are always giving it their all.. not one member is ever 'off'...I only had great expectations of Lily before hand ( and she blew me away and how!)...but all the members are all stars and I am excited to see them blow up (I really hope they get the comeback they deserve)

  • @caesou
    @caesou Рік тому +6

    honestly i roll my eyes when people listen to experimental music and then say “this ruined kpop”
    as an art student, every movement in modern art probably evoked the same saying. impressionists ruined art. cubism ruined art. pop art ruined art. did people stop making art because it “ruined” it? no, they kept drawing and painting and creating, with fresh new ideas each time.
    kpop is probably more commercial than modern/contemporary art, but the essence will still be the same: people want to push boundaries even if it makes others upset. they might *purposely* make people upset.
    new and experimental stuff is what makes a medium alive, fresh and surprising. as new ideas come in, people build off of those ideas and develop them.
    so people writing off experimental music as “flops” just makes me really want to shove an art history book in their face. a lot of the time, they’re being mean and drastic, not even giving the group a second chance.

    I'm so glad I randomly came across your video. I never realised they performed Move Your Body and that fancam completely changed my perception of them. It takes balls to cover Beyonce and so much talent to do it well.
    On another note, the passion in your voice and the way you express yourself is absolutely beautiful. "Beyonce sings in ink not pencil and Nmixx put ink all over that stage" God that line made me pause the video for moment and just let it sink in. We could really do with more commentators like you because your ability to string words together is so admirable and refreshing.

    I think you hit the nail on the head about O.O - it was disappointing because the 3 sections were each so good, and I would've loved 3 full songs made from those pieces. I was very off-put by O.O and for that reason I didn't want to like Tank...but it grew on me anyway. It's a really cool song and I've been addicted to watching the studio choom performance because the dance is just that good. I've also seen several of NMixx's covers and it's clear that they have all of it - the singing, the dancing, the stage presence, the passion. I just hope JYP actually taps into all of that potential, because it's very easy to see what they could become if they were promoted properly.
