There is a slight pause to make sure they all get the finishes at the same time. If you saw in the pairs rowing you would see the hands constantly moving. It's a just a drill. Notice also how aggressive the feather is to get that "clunk". Also, I believe that in "normal" rowing a pause at the finish will give more run but the boat has a longer time to decelerate and therefore will be slower overall. Pausing at the finish also keeps the weight in the bows which digs into the water, slows down
My goodness: what happens?? I don't like the catch at all. It isn't smooth and there is a slight pause in which the slide stops, *then* they catch. Sure this is intended, considering who they are... :^) The rest is absolutely ready for the Handbook of Sweep Rowing. Thx for posting this beautiful footage!
i wouldn't call it a pause, they still move the hands its just very slow and controlled. works for them so fair play, i know i don;t have that many olympic golds.
This is pretty awesome. One of the best 4's ever. I like the slight pause at the finish, helps get that extra run out of every stroke
Those finishes, my god.
thank you drew! this is some nice material, hun?
no doubt... great tehcnique, great supless.... greatest heavy quad ever

Nah pausing is how all australian boats row in paddling.
El trabajo del cuerpo del nro 3 es estupendo. Que cuatro por Dios!
Wonderful!!!
@srsly101 my mistake! sorry :)
Mahe Dryhesdale does the same thing. You can see it even in the last 500 of the last WC.
@jorgedinis3 :P was only messing ^^

No highjuice has it right, its just a drill, but the australian style of rowing typically has rather slow hands on the recovery anyway
@jorgedinis3 funny, thought it was a 4-. ;)
there is soo much wrong with your statement its funny. Look up and watch "will it make the boat go faster" its a podcast by Drew Ginn
