What am I talking about?
My topic is the KE-Jetronic injection system which I try to demystify as much as I can.
For all of you to understand the system in brief - Developed in 1973 and being mounted into cars up to 1993 as it went in history. But why these to letters!?(KE) K(from German "kontinuierliche Einspritzung" meaning continuos injection, without interruption) the MECHANICAL injection system on which the fuel starts flowing from the fuel tank sucked by the FUEL PUMP and delivered to the FUEL DISTRIBUTOR which sends fuel to the INJECTORS while the majority of it flows through the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR through its return line back to the fuel tank again. The letter E(elektronische Gemischanpassung/electronically controlled mixture adaptation) has to mark the electronic sensors (the developement starting from early eighties) which had to inform the ECU about the current state of the engine so that the ECU(Electronic Control Unit) then could create current signal in mA(miliampers) and send it to four crucial components for the system - the EHA(the electro-hydraulic actuator, a unit consisting of a magnet, an electromagnet and a baffle plate) which had to fine tune the engine in each of its phases, the ICV(the idle control valve), the unit which was predicted for the engines perfect idle, the X11(the diagnostic socket) where the duty cycle(the ideal mixture) was adjusted and the X11/4(the code reader) - the socket which from any codes were read if present using an OBD1 scanner.
An extraordinary injection system which could be fully repaired in your own garage using a multimeter and a pressure gauge only for its fine tuning, together with some common tools.

Hola buen video podría hacerlo en español gracias
Can you make a video explaining how the idle air control valve works and how to test it for proper operation? Thanks
Of course I can. You are my priority!👍🏻😃
Dear Ceasar, sorry for not responding, I was quite a busy. Hear I have a video on the ICV. For additional information I can tell you that on the 3 pin ICV you had to get 8.5V, on the newer ones with 2 pins - 4.5-6V and afterwards on the versions after september 89 you will have to get 580mAmps on the valve +/-50 mAmps. On V8 engines 1000 mAmps. If you have any additional questions feel free to ask. Cheers!

@Fix your Mercedes Thank you Sir
Good day , some off topic , can you help me pick ECU ? recently it got stolen from my car anf i cant figure it out , WIN code don't get me any information
i have a w124 M104 2.8 1992 without cruise control😥
Are you sure you have the KE-Jetronic system? Because I don't remember there were KE engines 2.8l with KE. I believe you have LH-system. Sorry, I can't help you in that case because I speak about the KE-Jetronic system. In that case I can't help you, sorry. If your engine code is one of these then I can search something, if not then as I have already mentioned, sorry.

@@mercedeske am sry its not a KE-jetronic car but another youtuber suggest that you may help " @MercedesBenzW124 "
@@alidodokh5876 Well, I can look for something, I have some literature on the system. I hope to find the ecu for your car.
Hi! Your videos are so well done but I was thinking could you make video about how to tune Ke jetronic to handle turbocharger. Then if you do it could you tell us at the same time about how you have to tune ignition.
Hello. Thank you for all vids that you've made. That's a great source of knowledge that everybody can take with. I used to work with ke-jets for few years but two weeks ago i get quite weird problem with one of car. May you help me somehow with this case? I made many tests and measurments, everything seems to be OK but car still has quite a big problem: C124 from 02.1988 m102 2.3 swaped to 2.0 (don't know why). When car came to me it had quite typical issues (vacuum leaks, potentiometer, idle air valve does't work - ECU was't match to this car, ignition problems etc). I fixed everything, now engine has 100% no vacuum leaks (checked with smoke machine), new injectors, potentiometer (OEM Bosch), fuel pump filter and lambda sensor. The problem that I have is, when i set up mixture to oscylate about 45-50% engine runs like crap, it's to lean for sure. It shaking a lot a idle. I have got AFR sensor mounted in exhaust manifold to tests how mixture really looks like - at idle afr 14.9 - lean as hell. When I reach mixture about half of turn CO screw - to the end of scale (
I was wondering about some fuel distributor failure. I have no tools to check how each section works but I swaped whole kejet unit with fuel distributor and fuel pressure regulator from different car in which everything works fine -> No changes :(
Hello and thanks for becoming the member of the channel, I really appreciate that and that helps me a lot as well. Concerning your issue at first tell me if you have the idle control valve with 2 or with 3 pins. Second thing - does your airflow meter have a purple blue label no which it says LM0001 or a blue one with white characters on which it says LM0008 - there is a huge difference - because LM0001 has to be in pair with the fuel distributor MT0001, the label with black red color or the fuel distributor with the label MT0008, a grey black label. Here you must be careful because although the fuel distributors seem to be identical, they are not. Answer me this questions so we can proceed. Greetings FyM
@@mercedeske Thank you for respond. ICV 2 pin, air flow meter purple/blue label LM00001 pared with fuel dist with black red color label.
My pleasure. How would I if not to my dear members! Holding idle for even more than 17 seconds on a cold start is normal(pre-heat ing of the catalytic converter), it goes up to 28 seconds. Tell me about the current on your EHA, how many mAmps do you measure.
What do pin 1, pin2 and pin 3 indicate or their purpose?
Pin1 is the ground, pin2 the signal to the ECU about the position of the airflow meter and pin3 is the power supply for the potentiometer.
@@mercedeske Thanks 🙏
@@paulfester9652 Happy Mercedesing 😊
does potentiometer can cause too rich fuel mixture
Yes
I dont get how you can read 7 volts out of 4.5 volts source
Hehehehehe, I can't, the second time was with a 9V battery!
