    You got a like and a subscribe! Someone else keeping it real! I just don't get it!? You can buy a brand new Nautilus for $1699! 61 key, full beast workstation for $1699! This endless crap about analog being better? Complete bull! Once you pump any sound into an effect pedal/effect, what possible difference does it make? There are so many AMAZING synths now under $1000. Heck, under 700.00 A Hyrdasynth Explorer has to be the most creative modern synths out and it's $599!!!! I'm done with Analog lies! I would take a Jupiter XM over most any 4-7k Anaolog 8 voice! It is 100% hype that is pushed by peeps with too much money and nothing else to do with it. Let the CHUMPS keep these crooks in business. We can laugh at them and keep asking, WHY?

      "But when I go back in time and look at the Prophet 5 initial release price in 1978, It help me with the frustration" all the more reason to buy cheap synths. Kids these days don't even care about music from 1978. 😂

    A lot of these are made for professionals, and if you are paid to perform music, you are expected to have gear at a certain standard. Next, check out old Italian violins.

    • @HazeAnderson
      @HazeAnderson Місяць тому

      Getting paid to perform is one thing but collecting ad revenue money is something entirely different. "you are expected to have gear" no that is not true. YOU expect to have reliable gear but your audience just expects you to be you (at your best of course). Also, synths are electronic and capable of doing much more than a trombone. I can get by with a $100 synth, you can't get by with a $100 trombone. Apples and oranges.

    With the PolyBrute12 at 3999, prices on everything else are going to have to get real. I love Oberheim and am serioisly considering the TEO 5, that said the OBX8 is going to have to drop in price. 10k for for a Moog One?...nope. Great video!

    I paid less than 5k for my 2017 Ford Fiesta, with less than 80k on the clock, last year. A lot of companies believe that in order to not look like makers like Behringer, they need to make their pricing, several times what Behringer would. They often claim the quality of components is superior to those used by Behringer, but the difference in supply prices between a plastic shaft encoder, and a metal one, are often not much different. In 2005, I paid 1,999 for my Nord Mod G2 37 key. I sold it 5 years later, for 2,300.

    • @rgeraldc80s
      @rgeraldc80s 25 днів тому

      Arturia has to pay for development, logistics, video creators, contributers, promoting, higher quality (bit still China) manufacturing, testing, shipping, before even the first one is sold, then they probably sell them to Sweetwater for $2500-$3000 per unit and Sweetwater makes the rest in profit. Behringer is really only cheap because they are selling a ton of cheap goods where they buy 10000x more components than Arturia would, and also in many cases own the people making the components.

    • @sergoz123
      @sergoz123 24 дні тому

      You have absolutely NO idea why Behringer is cheap. They're cheap because they can afford to make synths in their MASSIVE factories from beginning to end. This makes synths cheap. Arturia doesn't have this kind of production power, so their stuff will definitely be more expensive. I'm a Behringer fan but I'm not under some illusion of why Behringer are able to do it cheap. Get real, read more.

    Everybody wants things that are cheap, but Pro gear is actually more affordable than ever. A 1983 DX7 was 1999 Retail, so maybe 1799 street price. In 1983 to now dollars that is $5663. The Polybrute 12 is the Arturia's flagship which would have been Yamaha's Affordable Flagship in 1983 so yeah its about $1600 less expensive. We have gotten used to everything being cheap, because housing and cars cost way too much money now, and they want you to buy every synth, effect, sequencer, groovebox, instead of 1-3 quality things a year.

    Got my argon 8m module for under 500 dollars. Sounds great. Does polyphonic lfo at audio rates so i can play chords with that modulation. I don't think any other synth does it. Maybe hydrasynth does.
    My modwave is still my most favorite synth out of all of them. It doesn't do granular or physical modeling but it does most everything else. And it actually is insane how much it does. I've played a third wave. It does have 12 wavetables you can run at once. Modwave has 8 (4 and you blend the mix). But modwave has tons of room to add a lot of presets.
    I heard groove synthesis made an update for adding sampling to their third wave. That said I'm more than happy with modwave.

  • @morgan0

    super high priced synths made sense in the era of stingy musicians replacing session artists with a one off purchase, but sampling and such has long since taken that job. it's all people either looking for presets to perform with or for sound designing. most synth users are not looking at it as an investment to make money with to justify the price tag.
    panel components and analog stuff in general are expensive but good synths don't need to cost anywhere near this much, especially when you could just buy a computer for the same or less and make sounds with more flexibility, even with free synths.

  • @MrCowfood
    @MrCowfood Місяць тому +2

    Well, I will say this much, the two flagships I ended up with are the x8 and p10, both in desktop. I drew the line there. Been gas free ever since. There are are options of course, take 5, and the teo-5, the 6 voice series, and of course behringers offerings. If you can hear or notice differences that matter to your craft, then choose accordingly. Operative word is matter. I would not bother buying the p10 or x8 if I thought what those two do made little difference in my style. I would either choose the p6 and keep the ob6. Or even just go with behringers p800 and ubxa, or just vst it up. But, I do think once you know the 2-3 synths that will make a difference, buy them or save for them. Or at least that’s my take on high pricing.

      @@synthsamuraiproductions I'm not trying to dog on beringer, it is awesome what they are doing.. however little things most might not care about are pretty obvious to me, like the PCB of synth's like the ubxa that are competing with sequential uses much lower quality circuits and they are packed in so small you could never get them off.. sequential gives you a lot of room and only uses good size circuits so you can resolder parts in fairly easy. Things like the plastic shafted cheap pots compared to the Bourne pots sequential uses, or the cheap painted Chinese wood ends compared to walnut or oak. They keybed is questionable, compared to the fatar Italian keybeds.. I'm not saying the beringer is not amazing in is own way, I'm just saying it is built to a price point and sequential don't really cut any corners.. I agree that they are just way too expensive though.. I don't blame them, it cost to build things like that in small batches.. I can't really afford them, i only have one sequential and I couldn't buy it at its price today.

    There is no such thing as an overly expensive synth 😉😅

  • @Friedeggonheadchan
    @Friedeggonheadchan 28 днів тому +2

    Expensive? What are you even talking about? The original Prophet-5 MSRP'd at $3995 in 1978. It costed _more_ in _1978_ dollars than the current, more reliable and capable models does in 2024. Accounting for inflation the original model is over $19000 in 2024 dollars. Even the simple, affordable Juno-60 would cost over $5000 in current year. And let's not even mention the old halo products, your Jupiter-8s, OB-Xs and Matrix-12s, or CS-80s.
    The synth market has been absolutely booming for better part of a decade now, pushing prices to a historic low with an immense amount of competition and variety on offer. Not to mention there are price tiers available for just about any budget almost regardless of what type of instrument you're after. Let's not forget that these essentially professional products for people who intend to make money using them, yet it's quite astonishing that the prices have come such a long way that prestige tier instruments are attainable to amateurs and hobbyists. The people who primarily buy the top end products of the range are the same segment it's always been, professionals using them to make a living, except the relative affordability still allows others to take part as well.
    The fact is that developing and manufacturing products that aren't heavily subsidized is just plain expensive in the west since there isn't the same degree of domestic manufacturing base for components and supply chains due to the erosion of manufacturing industries that started already around the heyday of the analog polysynth. Yet still due to fierce competition the prices have been pushed down to an unprecedented low. The only thing to realize here is that people who realistically should be outside of the market segment these products are for have come to desire them nonetheless, and the market does still cater towards them both in the upper and lower ends of the price ranges. Musicians are being squeezed for every direction and it's harder and harder to make a proper living off of music which is why it can seem difficult to justify such purchases just for the sake of a hobby, but this is not the fault of the synthesizer manufacturers who are demonstrably doing amazing job at keeping their products accessible to a wide audience.
