I love that line. I've always wondered what exactly Logan was referring to. Was it being a father? Or finally knowing what it feels like to die? I like to think it was both, but seeing as he says it immediately after Laura refers to him as Daddy, maybe it's the former. Either way, it hits hard for me.

X-23 calling Logan ‘daddy’ at the end had half the movie theater crying when I saw this in the theater. You don’t expect tears in a Wolverine or even an X-Men movie. But DAMN! This was the perfect way for Hugh Jackman to exit his role as Wolverine. I admit I was upset when X-Men was announced as a movie a he was chosen as Wolverine. But I ate my own words really fast and now I couldn’t even imagine another actor in the role. Hugh literally BECAME the Wolverine. He truly embodied it. The only thing that didn’t match the comic book character was his height. Everyone in the comics called him ‘runt’ (before they got to know him of course 😂) because he was actually quite short. But nobody called him that twice. I always loved the combo of him and Colossus doing the old ‘fastball special’ against the Sentinels.

I like to imagine that the Logan Clone recovered after some hours or days. The Adamantium bullet may have been enough to pierce the skull, but the comics show his mutant power does not need a full functioning brain to work.
Anyway, he wakes up but has amnesia and is no longer programmed in any way.
Thus he begins to wander and due to circumstances becomes his own version of a hero/antihero and sort of carries on the legacy of the Wolverine.

He'd be blind, retarded, and possibly even have no motor control of any kind, depending on where some of that metal has ended up. • @Ambaryerno

This movie is a masterpiece, absolutely perfect.
As bad as Rice is, and as cruelly as Laura was treated by her creators in the movie, the actual books themselves (X-23: Innocent Lost, and X-23: Target X, both of which are fantastic, if heartbreaking, stories that formed the basis of much of Laura's role in the film) are even worse. For example, in the movie Laura is shown as knocked out when her claws are being coated with adamantium. In the books, Rice surgically removed them WITHOUT ANASTHESIA. Not because he couldn't put her under, but out out of pure spite!
Laura was played by Dafne Keen, who currently stars in HBO's adaptation of His Dark Materials. She's still keenly (no pun intended) interested in reprising her role again. In fact one of the casualties of Disney buying Fox was an X-23 spinoff movie that James Mangold was beginning work on at the time of the merger. Both Jackman and Mangold had nothing but praise for Keen's instincts. In fact that entire rant in Spanish when she finally blows up at Logan? She pretty much improvised the entire thing!
True story: Millie Bobby Brown was one of the actresses who auditioned for Laura. In fact it was losing the role to Keen that made Brown available to take the role of Eleven on Stranger Things (who is quite similar to X-23, other than their powers).

Yeah the Old Man Logan comics are extremely dark. They changed the story for the movie, but in the comics the villain Mysterio tricks Wolverine into killing the X-Men with his hallucinations. Logan had thought he was fighting an invasion of villains, but he stalked room to room killing all his friends and the students. The world collapses into shit and chaos, Hulk is a crazy, brilliant lunatic who runs half of America as a big green mob boss. I love this movie though. When Hugh said he was doing 1 more Wolverine movie, this was the overwhelming selection by the fans. He did us proud

part of what makes logan so powerful i think isn't the darker tone or the violence or any of that. it's that it's an * ending *. the whole thing with super hero stories, whether comics or now movies and tv, is that they never end. (with a few creator-owned exceptions of course.) they're too valuable to end the way a novel or even most films would. reboots, relaunches, new creative teams, new studios. even when the creators * want * a series to have a definitive end (like with watchmen) the companies often just can't leave well enough alone. obviously the x-men are going to be relaunched under the mcu sometime in the next 10 years. but logan actually allows viewers to get something like catharsis and closure (however bleak it is) on the series we knew from the 2000s.

Logan is supposed to be immortal(but can be killed if you destroy him or his head with adamantium), he isn't supposed to die naturally or by aging because of his regeneration ability. But the theory behind why he wasn't regenerating and look old in this movie is because of the adamantium in his body. This metal is toxic and his body has been constantly healing itself for more than 200 years. Eventually with age his abilities/powers cannot keep up. Thus, him aging and not healing fast in the movie.

This movie always makes me cry. I was so impressed with how Dafne Keen played X-23. X-24 was an imperfect clone of Logan, and that’s why he needed the serum to heal. They’ve tried so many times to make the perfect wolverine, and can’t do it. The most perfect clones were Laura and her sisters because of the scientist’s love that used her own DNA to fill the gap of Logan’s (comic canon). Laura doesn’t have adamantium in all of her skeleton, and only has implanted adamantium claws. As a result, she regenerates even quicker than Logan, but isn’t quite as durable overall. Interesting fact is that because of Wolverine’s healing factor, the adamantium in his body and the interaction with his immune system has made it a different kind of adamantium that is harder than all the others, and Vibranium (in the comics). So his claws can essentially cut through anything

She's so good in the role and it would have been interesting to see her story continue. She even has a group of mutants that they could have explored. There were so many missed opportunities with her character. Not in Logan as such, but since nothing was done with Laura afterward.

The way I see it, we perceive time based on what fraction it is of our lives. To a 5-year old child, 1 year feels like an eternity -- and, being 20% of their life up to that point, it kind of is. But once you're 50, 1 year is only 2% of your life, so it's not really that much at all.

I have an idea for the introduction of the new actor playing Wolverine. Just like the comics that introduced him he appears at the end of a Hulk comic. The X-Men animated series theme begins and the camera slowly pans up eventually showing Wolverine with his claws out and him snarling "What's up bub!?" Then the title screen flashes Wolverine will return in Hulk vs Wolverine

This is by far my favorite "Marvel" movie made. Although it's not really technically marvel or cannon. It makes sense and blends so well with the rest of logans story. Also Dasha the reason Logan is so weak and cannot heal is because of the adamantium metal that was infused with his skeleton. It is toxic and was slowly poisoning him over time, affecting his natural mutation of healing (which is why he could live so long). Logan was over almost 200 years old at the time of his death. Born in 1832 and dies in this movie in 2029. He didn't get the adamantium in him until 1979. So you can see in just 50 years it had basically killed him

Best Marvel film by miles, enough though it’s not MCU. When Martin Scorsese remarked that “superhero” movies, (but primarily MCU films,) are not cinema but are more like rides, he clearly had not seen Logan which 100% meets his criteria. Logan is also the only superhero film in general I chose to rewatch. 10/10.

This was a strong movie. As blasphemous as it might sound I would like to see who else could possibly play Wolverine. The early X-Men movies really screwed up from how things happened in the comic books. I'd kind of like to see it redone accurately... Perhaps in the MCU. They did well on superheroes stories in many of those movies. Toby Maguire's Spiderman, Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man movies as just 2 examples.
Great video as always Dasha. Keep up the good work and keep em coming.
