DCO's Jury Appreciation Week 2021 Event Recap Video

Every spring the Harris County District Clerk’s office hosts an event coinciding with Jury Appreciation Day called “Jury Appreciation Week.” This event is aimed to show our gratitude to those who appear for jury service. During this week, jurors get to hear from inspiring guest speakers and get the chance to win amazing door prizes. On the first day of JAW2021, jurors heard from amazing guest speakers like the Honorable Judge Robert Schaffer and H-E-B President Scott McClelland.
On the second day, we had the opportunity to hear from Congressman Al Green and Roger Bridgwater, the Director of Outreach at the office of Harris County Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey.
On the third day, we had very inspiring remarks delivered by Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack Cagle and local legendary businessman James ‘Mattress Mack’ McIngvale. They both touched on the importance of serving in jury panels for the betterment of our community.
On our fourth day, we had two awesome guest speakers: the Honorable Judge Mike Engelhart and @abc13houston news reporter @PoojaOnTV. Also: the juror who won one of the @GFToday gift certificates did a touchdown dance!
We closed with three special guest speakers: Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia, comedian Chinedu Ogu, and NASA Astronaut Christopher Cassidy. We also raffled a soccer ball signed by the Houston Dynamo and tickets to a Houston Dash game.
We received amazing feedback from those who have appeared for jury service during Jury Appreciation Week this year. Even with restrictions due to COVID-19, the event is proving to be a great success. Part of this success is due to our amazing sponsors. Each Harris County Commissioner provided warm morning refreshments throughout the week while Gallery Furniture, H-E-B Grocery, the Houston Dynamo/Dash, the Houston Symphony and the Houston Museum of Natural Science provided well received raffle prizes. We would like to take a moment to show immense gratitude to all of the sponsors of Jury Appreciation Week 2021. With your support, we were able to give prospective jurors a little joy to start their day of service.
