    My XMR 1000, my , I think its the secondary clutch is jammed with transmission and won't move, shifter shifts but tranny won't move, any suggestions on that, does the tranny need to come out ?

    • @awences1
      @awences1  8 місяців тому

      If it shifts and doesn't move it could be the transmission. i would take the belt box off and she what it does. If both clutches spin but it doesn't move when in gear and you push on the gas, then it could be the transmission. hopefully its just a bad belt.

    How would you know if your forks are bent or damaged? Ie. what are the symptoms. I have 800 commander that has difficulty shifting, that I believe stems from plotting snow and pushing to hard-and shifter getting stuck... Its been a while since ive done this but if i remember correctly i think you can. Make sure its on neutral and that before you take everything apart all the markings line up. But since you already have it out, it would be a good idea to inspect everything and make sure you don't have any pieces of metals inside from the broken spring.

    • @awences1

      Some do have different gearing inside i believe but the shell should be the same. But depending on the model there are 2 different transmissions sizes. there is a bigger trans that most big xmrs have and there's a smaller one that the more basic can ams use.

      I would first make sure you have a manual. Just take your time and look at my video or multiple videos to get a feel for things. Its really not that hard. Take a lot of pictures/ videos as you take things apart and it will help you put it back together once you're ready. @@GabyColon-h6h I don't think that's possible. Even if it was I would take it out. its a lot easier to get to things on the bench than on the ground. @awences1  2 роки тому +1

      Not sure if the 2015 mavericks are different but i don't recall can am having an internal clutch in the transmission. it could be many things but the easiest to check is your shift cable and linkage. If those are good then it could be a bad gear, bearing or spring inside the transmission.

    I got a problem with my transmission jumping out of high gear. I changed the sleeve and high gear but it didn't fix it. The forks and shift drum looked OK. What did you change on yours for parts? I'm thinking spring on shift drum is weak.

    • @awences1
      @awences1  4 роки тому

      I changed the shift fork and spring. The spring will get week overtime and fail. I would change it before it comes apart and ruin the gears. Also just make sure all the bearings are good. I also replaced a gear that had some damage but im sure yours is probably ok. Just inspect everything and replace if necessary.

      @awences1  6 років тому

      Only thing i could think of is maybe you didn't set it on the neutral position before closing it or it got bumped out of neutral when tightening everything up. Could also just be and adjustment it issue. that can be done without taking it apart again. I would start there first.

    • @awences1
      @awences1  6 років тому

      Go through and check the linkage for alignment. Also check the linkage to see if ts bent or worn in any way. Set the linkage in neutral, so go to neutral and set it then it should go through all the gears no problem, if it will not do that then there is either slack in the transmission or a bent component in the shifter mechanism. Could also be that its missing a shim inside and causing it not to engage. Never really had that problem before so its kind of puzzling.

    Hey man, great video. I dont have a can am yet but i love watching these types of videos before buying.. I am looking at a 2017 renegade 1k and the guy says the shifter is loose. He sent me a video of the linkage disconnected from the trans and shows how it clicks into each gear.. I'm wondering if this sounds like a a linkage adjustment issue or would the trans need to come out? He says it doesnt go into gear hard or pop out.. But, im just curious why he's pointing this issue out.. I had a polaris scrambler for a while that i had the trans out frickin day 1 after buying it from a guy... trying to avoid the same.. appreciate anyones input here. thanks.

      Hard to say without seeing it in person but the easiest thing to do is making sure the shifter is adjusted properly. Mine would grind when it shifted so you would have to move it to N then back to H or L to get it to click. Eventually it just broke. If it shift fine without the linkage with no grinding then I would start by replacing it with a new one and she how it does.

      On this one if it was in high it would pop out of gear and make a grinding sound like it wasn't engaging. I would look it to taking yours apart before it breaks and chips one or all your gears. it did it to this one and i had to replace a gear. When it went out I had given it a little gas not much and all of a sudden it wouldn't go anywhere and the sifter was really soft and not go in to any gear. Not worth waiting till it goes out.

      I have no idea how a maverick is set up but im sure there rear or front diff will have to be able to slide to let the drive shaft slide out. the hard part is removing the bolt that holds the shaft to the transmission.
