  • What does every 4 week old baby need? A visit to a NATA certified calibration laboratory, that's what!
Dave takes his baby scale to a NATA cal lab to check it's performance, because, well, he can...

@TheWelly888 Yes, it comes with a baby tray, I didn't have it with me at the lab. Essential when he's awake and squirming!

    1) This isn't a lab scale with .001 g res. Those aren't .01 g calibration weights.
    2) He touched every weight, yet only the 12 kg measurement was off.
    3) The sweat didn't weigh 10 g. Or 5 (which would've been enough to cause the scale to round up to 12010, as it seems to have 10 g resolution). It didn't even weigh 1 g.
    4) Okay, in the case that the msrmnt error was .001 g smaller than "needed" to cause the scale to round up to 12010 g, touching the weights could've made a difference.

@astrowanabe I did take it apart hoping to find some cal trimpots. Didn't think to take photo's or video, was under wifely pressure :-> Just a big arse strain guage and a micro + misc parts. It was pretty good though.

I don't know what a cal lab would have to do with the National Athletic Trainer's Assn.
Shouldn't he be wearing gloves when handling precision weights to prevent corrosion and contamination? He could have just finished stuffing his face with some kind of greasy concoction at lunch and.... Oh, THAT'S why there are oily spots and coffie spills on the calibration certificates.

@cleverca22 I think this is one of those units that won't like a teardown much. Best to leave the baby as is. :) Keeps them much happier =p
