Pink Floyd was always the go-to for this type of music. I never heard of Country Joe and the Fish until this year and I am 60. Good music and way under-appreciated.😊
Just beautiful- the cream of psychedelia...the film fits it beautifully, with those teardrops of colored glass and all the quiet, deepening smiles....the blend of organ, lead, harmonica, drum set, bass....
What made the fish and the holding company great, was they were raw, unpolished. Their musicianship was fine, their music creative and interesting. But in their energy, they weren't all that concerned if they played the wrong note on occasion, they played with passion. Most bands tried to be so precise, almost like rote memorization. These people liked having fun playing, and that's why they were fun to listen to.
The end of the last century was significant and I asked myself "which" record I would play to end it. The top three were: Section 43 - Country Joe & the Fish Joy inside my tears - Stevie Wonder Sea Breeze - Chic Corea & Lionel Hampton. Music is life, the good and bad times always has a song to relate to the situation. They are not my favouritre songs/tunes, but they relate perfectly to that moment....
Yeah I always thought so too. Woodstock was considered kind of phony in its day - first of the mega concerts and that implied a problem eventually - but Monterey was a smaller venue, peeps better prepared etc. Of course I'd call Woodstock fantastic by comparison to almost anything going on now.
Yes! I would have loved to be at the Monterrey Pop Festival but I was born in '63 so too young, lol. From what I've seen of both the Monterrey concert and Woodstock, Monterrey was smaller, better organized and had better quality music. Woodstock looked like fun but too dirty, not enough food, not enough bathroom facilities, and I wonder, how well could everyone hear the music, esp if they were far from the stage? The psychedelic sights and sounds of Monterrey Pop have me mesmerized, esp this song by Country Joe and the Fish!
I remember seeing this on TV in 1974 or 75...I was 10 or 11...and I was impressed. I wanted to be there so much. the 60s are over, but the spirit of the 60s lives on, even in 2012 and beyond. GREAT stuff.
not happy w/ some company's attempts to yank down this video, thank you Brody76 for putting this video back up. Trippy, wonderful song.....................
Good choices. I once did a list of my top 100 records, it took six months and amazed me how many "good" records I missed out. Try it, your brain would go into meltdown!!! No: 1 was Marvin Gaye - I heard it thru the grapevine. A record I think would feature in a lot of peoples choices.
I always found this fantastic track rather harshed my vibe whilst 'disorienting my senses' or whatever. Which made it all the more interesting and valuable.
Definitely the number one psychedelic song of the sixties! The music of a generation! Barry the guitar player became a lawyer. I guess he needed some balence in his life after playing music like this!
@@DEeMONsworld well and his band didn't make as much money as some of the others who did the same thing forever until they turned into mummies with guitars slung across 'em.
Those 2 guitar players on the left look like young high school kids but they play guitar like seasoned pros, it was the same for a lot of the bands in those days , a lot of it was influenced by the blues, sadly, this kind of music just isn't made any more
I knew a couple of older gals in Monterey-- think they've passed on now--who said Monterey was always a bit of a drug den--opium --chinese --then in came acid woopee do yeehaaa..with beatniks originally and jazz etc..steinbeck effect !

Gliding around like he has wheels on the bottom of his shoes.....
Love it!
So trippy😍
I could listen to this all day long. Notice how everyone is seated, not wandering around in everyone's way, no cameras they're behaving themselves.
Yeah its 52years later and i wonder why anyone would thumbs down ANY c j fish music, !70 years old now I still love this music 🤩🦋💖🌈🕉Thankyou guys !!
Let the dead bury the dead. We like it, thats all that matters
We need a new love generation
You never know, history repeats itself!
WoW!! What a sound! What a psychedelic trip!
how could anyone possibly give a thumbs down to this???
PS - yep, Monterey was light years ahead of Woodstock, musically
I always thought the music at Monterey was better than Woodstock.

Woodstock was crowded.
Now this is music!!!
This was the last record I played for myself in the last century (New Years Eve 1999).
It just seemed the right bit of music to play.......fantastic.
What is the name of this piece? Is there one? My old man was at the festival.

Pure art in full creative mode without labels and barriers of restriction.

I love how Country Joe is making love with his guitar 2:27 to 2:50. Gorgeous music and motion!

PatOShea I loved them both but your so right about Monterey being the best.
Cuál es el nombre de este rolón???
I'll have some of stuff 1:57 is tripping on!
To me, this music sounds less like it was created for a high audience, and more like the band was high when they composed it.

groovy times down in Monterey *** on LSD probably...
Look at the woman’s eyes at 4:56.
Beautiful girl at 1'13" - wonder where she is now?

Is that Jeff Goldblum at 1:58?
If not, then Jeff has a twin brother he doesn't know about .
If that was Jeff goldblum he be over 70 now
That's a cast member from the Brady Brunch.
