Pandanggo sa Ilaw
The Philippine folk dance known as pandango has gained popularity in the country's outlying regions. The Fandango, a Spanish traditional dance that arrived in the Philippines during the Hispanic era, served as the basis for the dance's evolution. Castanets are used to accompany the dance. This dance, along with the Jota, gained popularity among the illustrados, or upper class, and was later adapted by the local communities. Any dance that was regarded as merry and vivacious in the early 18th century was known as pandango.
