    #6 - Turn off mouse acceleration, which is enabled by default. Also, here's what's interesting about the refresh rate setting... I've changed it and seen it get switched back. I don't know if this was due to updates, but I've seen it happen on more than one system over time that I KNOW I enabled the full refresh rate. And I'd like to see some testing showing the benefits of some of these changes as well.

      @volvo09 Рік тому +1

      Odd. I never saw this back in the day with CRT monitors.
      You can test it yourself, if you set it to 60hz you can notice page scrolling, window movement, and mouse cursor movement not being silky smooth. The higher the refresh rate, the smoother the movement.
      Back in the day with CRT monitors you saw flicker... So I always set the refresh rate to the highest the monitor would accept.

      If you have teh Nvidia software, try changing the refresh rate in its resolution settings. that might stop windows randomly changing it.

    • @Dorraj
      @Dorraj Рік тому +1

      Its absolutely not due to updates. I have two monitors. One has never had issues, it has kept its 144hz setting, even when installing onto a new system. As long as you install the drivers, it's good. The other monitor however, has had tons of issues. Sometimes I'll just turn on my computer and it'll be stuck at 60hz and not even let me change it. Sometimes it'll just randomly switch to it. Sometimes (thanks to borked freesync gsync implementation) it will be stuck at something like 78hz. Some panels just have really crap hardware in em, but its not updates causing it, neither for drivers (at least Nvidia, not sure about amd) nor windows.

    4:30. There is A WAY to disable FULL SCREEN OPTIMIZATION without editing the registry even after the newest windows update. Windows just made it harder for you to do it by hiding the option. This is how you do it.
    STEP 1: Find the game you are trying to play
    STEP 2: Right click the Icon of the game or APP and select "properties"
    STEP 3: Click " Compatibility" tab
    STEP 4: Go down and TIC/CHECK the "Disable fullscreen optimizations"
    STEP 5: hit APPLY and OK button
    Now enjoy and get your FPS back!!

    A bit more information on what Fullscreen Optimisation does; From my understanding, Fullscreen Optimisations run the game in a highly optimised borderless windowed mode. This is to facilitate better alt-tabbing for instance. I'm unsure if this is for all "Fullscreen" kinds or only for Exclusive Fullscreen. This differs per game.
    You can also disable this on a per-application basis.
    - Right click the .EXE > Properties
    - In properties click on "Compatibility" then checkmark "Disable Fullscreen Optimisations"

      If you are on a newer system like 12th gen intel and on rtx 30s with windows 11, you shouldn't do it for any / every game. Like in my case, I get better performance by not disabling this. Hate how people are still stuck in this '' disable fullscreen for better performance '' loop and they don't count on every build or doesn't note it in video. I don't know about 20 series but on pascal cards you absolutely get better performance with it disabled.

    Resizable bar lowered my FPS when i had it on... I was getting 60fps in SoD2 but when i turned it off i was getting 90fps maybe its just because its an old game but i will try it when i stop playing older games basically just payday, ark, and SoD2 because their next games are coming out soon. (I have a Ryzen 7 3800x, 32GB of RAM -3466MHz C16-, RTX 3070 ti, B450 mobo, and only NVMe storage)
    GPU scheduling also reduced my fps... tested it on forza horizon 4 CPU Sim from 191.7 to 182.1, CPU render from 131.3 to 126.2, and GPU from 129.7 to 129.9 all average not max or min.

    Some displays can't do more than 60Hz and the fan curve thing is a MSI only thing. Also, you can still find full screen game optimization in Settings and it's called Game Mode under Gaming (in at least Windows 10.) And GPU scheduling only works for Desktop Apps or Microsoft Store Apps, but not both at the same time

    #5 is a desktop setting. If you run your games full screen (exclusive) then it will run as fast as your monitor can go as long as the game it self is set for high refresh rates, and not capped at 60hz.
    #2 sounds like the Game Bar thing (or Windows Game mode), if you just disable Game Bar that disables the DVR that no one uses in Windows, and ought to give you the same results.
    #2 Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling will not appear on old hardware that's over ~10 years old (like my 550 ti) since this didn't exist when 500 series was new. So it is hardware dependent.. but anything from the 600 series to current generation GPU ought to have this.

    • @fragalot
      @fragalot Рік тому

      @@ZeroB4NG it depends on the game, and how you're running it. I've had this windows setting at 60hz and still had games running well over 60fps when played in full screen. It's also possible drivers completely ignore what setting, or that games ignore when in full screen as most games have their own setting for refresh rates for the monitor you're using.
      It is still important to set that windows setting to whatever your monitors refresh rate is so Windows UI runs smoother. I'm just saying it likely may not matter for games at full screen.

    You forgot two other points:
    1. Doublecheck that you are using the correct version of the hdmi or displayport cable, so that it can provide what you want to get (f.ex 4k 120hz). *ofc also check your gpu actually outputs said signal too.
    2. Its not enough to just try enable a setting in windows: usually you have to manually enable it first within the monitorsettings aswell.

    Tip #2 is even more limited than to just low end computers. The problem with "hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" Is that there is only one AMD Adrenaline driver that actually supports this, which was 2020 Edition 20.5.1 Beta. Every driver since does not support this feature, not even a regedit will enable it will work. Thus this tip has a very very small use case, and certainly not a universal tip. Note: This is the case under Windows 10.
