Since creating this video Luminar Neo has been updated and improved. You can get the newest version on sale here: bit.ly/NeoSale and maybe save more with coupon: ATNEO10 (sometimes Skylum de-activate the code if there's already a promotion running but worth giving a go!)
Loving it - So many people complain about Neo - But I love the way it is constantly developing and adding things, getting better all the time - The only limits our our imagination and the lack of time some spend trying to learn how to use it properly - Another great tutorial - Thank you.
Interesting but nearly useless for most, I wish they’d put more effort in the removal tool, that is the one thing everyone can benefit from. Thank you for the video, you’re a great instructor and now subscribed!
BIG NEWS! Skylum has just launched a summer sale where you can save a massive 81% off Luminar Neo here bit.ly/NeoSale But the cool thing is in addition to that they've given me a coupon code to share with you so you get to save ANOTHER 20% (use code AFF-T5C1C0 ) I really hope that helps you out! It should work for both the perpetual licence and the subscription too. Enjoy😄 Best wishes, Anthony
wow - one of your best videos yet. When you first mentioned this tool I was thinking what a waste - I'll never use it. Watching your video made me think that I can't wait to work it into my flow. Definitely not something to use in every picture BUT a great tool to have in the kit. Luminar should pay you double... I think you market their products better than they do (or anyone else).
Haha thanks mate. They don't actually pay me a cent for the videos I make (well apart from a couple they've sponsored in the past) I just enjoy using it and seem to have accumulated an audience that's interested in it. I just get a small commission if someone uses my affiliate link.
Many of these new creative tools seem a bit gimmicky but I will admit my imagination is rather limited and your videos certainly help in that regard. I would like to see more emphasis from Luminar on improvements to the existing tools rather than continually introducing new ones. I suspect these new ones help with sales
Not likely to use this. I love many aspects of Neo but wish that they would put greater effort into the masking ability for birds and wildlife. Its ok in a clearly defined subject against a blank sky but otherwise it doesn't compare to Topaz....Still, I appreciate your showing the tools potential.
Anthony, great video, Not sure of the real world practicalities for us amateur's, but fun to play with. Personally I would like to see a text box available, I like to make cards, gift labels etc, specially at xmas, and it's a pain using word, printing, scanning, converting and using as overlay.
Exactly the challenge I have. I have a man made volcano that uses lights to represent lava. Problem, the lava doesn't work with a plain photo. I tried the Neon application, but now I know what I should do. Might take a bit of work, but I'm going to work it.
Another great inspirational video, Anthony! Thanks! Neon and glow are fairly special tools, but watching your video, I now se a much greater variety of uses for them.😄
Looks like fun, and photography should be fun. :) I probably won't use it much, or I'll use it only in specific areas for emphasis. I'm looking forward to playing with it.
Thanks. I'm hoping to make one but at the moment I think I've only had about 10-15 requests. I might need a few more before I dedicate a day to recording a new video on it.
Definitely seems more geared toward marketing-style images. Less useful for "normal" pictures, like landscapes, although adding an inner glow to some things like trees might be kind of cool to brighten things up. My daughter loves rainbows, so I could see making a portrait of her with multiple Neon tools applied, each one with a different indent and color value to create a neon rainbow around her. Cool video. Like others here, I thought this was just super gimmicky when it was announced, but I can see some limited use cases for it now.
I love your tips ect. Question Ever since I installed the latest update for Luminar Neo everytime i open it and then pick "add folder" it crashed. I have 16gb ram and 50gb hard drive free space. It never crashed before. Any ideas
Thanks. So re performance, no, not sure. That'd be one for the eggheads at Skylum I'm afraid. Everyone's got there own system requirements but personally I'd be getting anxious about only 50gb on my OS hard drive (potentially could be the issue... I know my apps, Photoshop, Premiere, Neo etc. never preform as well or as reliably after my HD starts to get full. They do like a bit of virtual memory in the form of scratch disk space).
I think if it's only used as advertised (a glowing neon edge filter) then yes it's intrigue could be short lived. However, I've already found a lot of uses for the tool that aren't immediately obvious that have a lot of practicality. For example creating a spotlight behind our subject using the outer glow, or creating reflected light for other elements in the scene.
I think it depends on the genre you shoot or dabble in. I think Neon is still a valid asset for the tool kit particularly if you're into compositing or fantasy style work.
I feel like I should just wait till next year when they come out with luminar neon flapper Jack, then nexus , then …. Remember when they sold us on the first Iluminar, when they said it would be constantly updated.
"Luminar Neon Flapper Jack" Best name suggestion since the web voted to name the British research vessel "Boaty McBoatface" 😆. I see a job in Skylum's marketing department for you sir.

great video. I think legacy Topaz glow remains better with lot of features like black or white modes, blend modes,...

as I've said, anything you do is good for me, so Laser or anything on the fun side, thank you

Really well-done introduction to this tool, AT. Thanks. Laser ideas would be welcome. I enjoy the clarity (and humor) you bring to your videos!
With laser can you show something, yes hmm?
Very well done tutorial!! Very creative!
Lasers!! Thanks for the discount codes! looking forward to following more of your videos. All the best

I own Luminar Neo outright so now I’m glad that I can get the annual pass and get these wonderful subscriptions!

Why are all of those Luminar Neo photos ridiculous lollipop images? Even on their website ...
lazers. 😀
Lil gimmicky but I think it might also be cool for sports photography. Going to give it a try with my nephews during football this weekend 😊
Laser :)
Great video. Looking for the laser video.

This is pretty awesome actually, finally Neo bringing more value to us without charging for all the extra plugins. Great video bro!

I can definitely see the usefulness of the Neon and Glow tools for anyone who shoots at comic-con conventions or works with cosplayers in general.

It reminds me a little of Kai's Power tools from the 1990s. At least the UI was exciting. I'm afraid you get bored quickly with this.

my teen self would loved something like this.
seems funny
Y'know Armin, I could just see an arrow tip emblazoned with some epic glow effects!
@@AnthonyTurnham let me see once it’s out what I can do for you hahahaha
@@AnthonyTurnham just downloaded and relaunched... yet I cant find it :D not there... restarted again, still nothing to see. I am on version 1.14.0
Neon is usless for photographers but glow might come in handy in the right situations

interesting but for me I wonder
Thank You Tony can't wait to get to use it, your documentary is very informative
Thanks Michael
