- The Wednesday Evening Ringers Association December (Christmas) 2012 Meeting: North Tawton, Devon.
Footage shows rising 8-bells in peal, a selection of call-changes being rung on this rather tricky peal of 8-bells and concludes with lowering 8-bells in peal.
For those that are interested, North Tawton has a long history of Call-Change ringing. It has a close affiliation with The Devon Association of Ringers going right back to its commencement in 1925. North Tawton had one of the best 8-Bell Call-Change teams in Devon from the mid-1950's through to the late 1980's under the captaincy of Brian Drake. They won the Devon 8-Bell title a remarkable 19 times. A feat that has only just recently been surpassed by Kingsteignton bellringers. North Tawton have had several respected call-change ringers in their side over the years including Chris Clayton, Edgar Cole, Mervyn Way, Paul Wright & Ralph Wright.
Ringers: Colin Adams, Scott Adams, Stuart Bennie, Chris Clayton, Suzanne Driscoll, Stephen Herniman, Tony Jeffery, Mervyn Langdon, Christine Ley, Graham Sharland & Paul Wright
I've rung here. They're amazing! Brian Drake is a very kind and welcoming tower captain. I'm ringing here again one Christmas Eve and Day.
Brian has sadly retired from tower captain the new tower Capt is graham pridham
Has always been nice. I grew up here. Remembering back, on the best, most brightest days you'd always hear these bells ringing in the distance. I felt the day wouldn't truly be a beautiful day without these bells. Weird huh.
ACTUALLY THERE ARE 9 THE 8 PLUS THE BELL ON THE SPIRE
