I’m Solomon island born. I have white Australian father. Mum is from Kiribati but raised in Solomon’s. I’ve lived in Aus most my life but very proud of my island culture. Remember all the island celebrations I attended as a child and hearing this song and watching the dance performances. Very proud Melanesian. When I’m having drinks and kicking it with my Samoan and Maori friends this song is a must in the playlist.
Really love this song! This shows how unique we Pacificians are in the global context! Proud to be part of this lovely part of the world, the Pacific Islands!
I am a Fiji Indian and found the music video in 2024. I remember dancing on this song when I was in kindergarten in 2007. Beautiful memories. The Pacific Island culture is one of the most beautiful cultures I have seen and it should be preserved. These kinds of songs should be made viral on social media platforms.

The harmony on the chorus is pure joy! I love Te Vaka and this song in particular. These dancers really evoke the song. That young girl dancing in front is absolutely gorgeous--and you know she knows it when she gives the camera a wink. You slay, gurrl!😅❤

Thank you for your observation...Yes, this video footage was definitely Tahitian dance inspired... It is a contemporary expression of cultural dance from the Pacific!!
I really love Te Vaka’s music. I’m Alifuru tribe in Molo’uku Islands. We are Pacific Islanders too. So proud🔥. Many people said we are Melanesian. But culturally, I think we are Polynesian. Moluccan are just similar to the people in Hawai’i, Tonga and Aotearoa. And also, we have many similarities in language. TABEA !!

Here in Australia, we love learning about the culture of our neighbours, the pacific islands! In music class, we have a whole term to learn about the beautiful musical culture of these lands and I am in love ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for your kind words ♥️ Was an awesome collective of dancers from across the Pacific .. on contract with us (Heilani) .. in Macau .. back in October 2012
Can you imagine being the first Europeans to see and hear something like this? After a year of traveling on rough seas with only men, and coming from cold, dark and grey countries with prudish and conservative culture. I would have lost my mind. Must have been like a psychedelic experience. No wonder a lot of them stayed and never left back with their boats! 🎉❤ Mutiny on the HMS Bounty. 😂
This song is perfect very fantastic and I am a Pacific Islander And I was born in Fiji This is the best song for South Pacific Islanders to listen to. (in love with the song very much.) 🇫🇯.
