As an owner of Wingblade Optimus- for some reason- the translucent Optimus is the ONLY animated Optimus I’ve owned where the ‘drama in transformation’ works FLAWLESSLY. Every time. Every single time. It’s nuts.
I also own one, can confirm. Not sure if there was an update somewhere or some difference in the plastic helps. Either way, cool it works, still a pain to close lol

While there is no version better than G1 Prime, Animated Optimus is definitely my second favorite. He was just so great. His voyager figure was great too.

Gotta love that designer or Hasbro/Takara exec who was pushing for that Nightwatch deco. Because you've got it here in Animated, and three separate versions for Movie Optimus released around the same time. In fairness, I do rather like the blue Optimus look!
Last year when i watched tfa for the first time i saw the cybertronian Prime in a second hand store. He was missing a leg, had no axe, and his limbs kept popping off. But he was also 5 bucks and i felt at the time it was like seeing a rare bird for people who like bird watching. Then the legacy animated optimus got leaked and felt silly.

What kills the Legacy one for me, which I never see anyone mention, is the bot mode's total lack of a waist. The chest just immediately transitions into the hips, with the grill just being smushed into the chest section. It's very ugly, and removes from Animated Optimus's heroic silhouette. Besides that, I really like the interior details and the arm engineering for sure. At the same time though, I feel like the faithfulness to his show model only makes all the greebles and panel lines, just, stand out way more. I'm really not into those, especially the leg grills that make him resemble G1 Optimus. He's certainly the best Animated character in Legacy so far, but he's still far from ideal to me, personally.
With Animated (and the live action movies lol) being my introduction to Transformers, I got hella nostalgia seeing the bumper and the electronic toy. Had both of those growing up
I'ma be real rip Derick and love him dearly but man I really prefer the Powermaster upgrade designed by Eric. It looks so sick but I can understand if it wouldn't vibe with the rest of the design of the show.

Powered Convoy was the Diaclone release of Ultra Magnus, who had a vastly different color scheme. The character Delta Magnus was made in reference to that Diaclone color scheme.
I had the toxitron version of optimus, I had gotten it in a box of other transformers from goodwill. I didn't watch animated, and needed to make space so I sold off some. I posted a lot of them on facebook and I think I sold like 10 assorted transformers including toxitron (I didnt Know) for like $80.

I just got the Legacy United figure today and plan to pre-order DNA Design's Wingblade Upgrade for it. The trailer that kit turns into looks sleek. Way better than the Takara Voyager from back in the day.
I didn't know that the Voyager OP with a silver Autobot logo on the left shoulder was a rare variant. Saw it one time but the logo was scratched so I didn't get it. Still regret not getting it because every one I saw after that didn't have the logo. 😢

Peaugh did a tutorial on how to attach the Wingblade armor on the Deluxe Earth Mode Optimus Prime, though he speculated that they may have retooled the toy to attach the armor better. 3. I've seen a lot of fans display Voyager Optimus Prime with the axe from Deluxe Earth Mode Optimus Prime. I hope to get the Legacy United Animated Optimus Prime one day (as well as Legacy United BumbleBee and Legacy Evolution Prowl).

While there is no "best Prime" as boomers like to think, Animated Optimus is a very worthy addition to the Pantheon of Primes.

Optimus's transformation is still fun to this day and I wonder if they had scrapped plans to recolor him in his S4 Color palate.

That’s completely fair. I hadn’t thought of that. The typical “superhero proportions” aren’t carried over. I do still really like it, though.

The blue switch in front of the Supreme figure is there to lock the upper half from auto transforming so you can roll it freely.

Optibotimus was able to show us a drama transformation for the legs.
