If it can go wrong, it has for the Bombers this season. Now conversely, 2021 and 2022 both showed the opposite trend - the Bombers got really lucky (especially in 2022) and won a few games they really shouldn't have. Nonetheless, despite the changes to their roster affecting the efficacy of their play (especially on offense), they are not THAT far removed from the team that won 14/18 games last year. And while Collaros has likely taken a small step back (he used to be better off the scramble, which enabled him to hold on to the ball for longer and make plays that other QBs couldn't), a good part of his struggles this year are because the best receiving corps in the entire league lost its 2 best players (one for the season, one for the first half of the season), and because his offensive line took a fairly significant step backwards themselves. If Walters manages to improve the O-line, I think Zach will be able to execute in a manner more similar to the last couple of years. Will it be enough to make them competitive in October/November? That's anyone's guess. But this week's game shows that with their defense being as good as it is, a merely decent offensive effort is going to be sufficient. HOWEVER, I do think a lot depends on Osh. He's used to having all-star receivers and a MOP-candidate QB. Now he (arguably) has neither...so he can't be the conservative, risk-averse SOB he's known for being. Sometimes risks are worth it. Sometimes you need to throw a trick play in there, and bank on the fact that you NEVER do this, to ensure its success. Obviously, this is a card that needs to be carefully used, but it is definitely something that I would be working on if I was on the Bombers' coaching staff. They're used to getting by on bully ball, but it only works when you have deep threats to occupy the safety and backs. Getting Lawler back will help, and Wilson's been a revelation so far. Still, the Bombers are no longer the juggernaut they were over the past 3 seasons, and they can't keep acting like they are.
Did anyone truly think that BC was gonna be dominant this year? I knew they were all smoke and mirrors, if winnipeg doesnt get there, sask will be there in the grey cup final. Bc is not that good.
no guarantee he would come back to bc, plus hes not coming back to the cfl anyway, he only beat 1 team above .500 in his entire career plus never won a playoff game., not a great qb
@@ryanfriesen4366 Gee how many things can you get wrong in one statement? Just for starters he was an exceptional CFL QB, and he beat Calgary in the 2022 Western Semi even though he was less than 100%, which is the second time he beat a team that was over .500 in his short (11 regular season starts, and 2 pl;ayoff games).
1. Back to the good old days of the Bombers front 4 gross holding and not called. When a player loses their shirt to holding the call is automatic. 2. The movement of the receivers with Hatcher coming back did affect the timing of routes with the shuffle of players. 3. Adams looked unsure and had receivers open all night but wanted the long ball. 4. Worst game of the season for the Lions offensive coordinators and the calls made: either all deep routes, all short, and rarely mixed. 5. Four lines cant block two Bombers resulting in a sack more than once? Good grief the Lions made the Bombers look good. 6. The Bombers QB was on fire all night and the receivers made the catches: easy and hard to make; and sold a couple that were not.
correction. They played worse than godamn Edmonton. Edmonton hasn't been "shutout" yet... BC has. BC has a Vernon Adams Jr problem they have to get rid of.
Field goal clinic. Impressive!
Huge statement game for the Bombers
Bombers are better than there record.
Darn Rights
Winnipeg's defence took no prisoners. And Castillo, unbelievable !

Wow, the Bombers actually showed up, and the refs didn't completely screw them over (though they still made some bad calls).
Let's Go Blue! That's better football!
Didn’t even know the CFL season already started
Ouch

I agree bc isn’t that good. Sad
Hopefully Roufke gets off the NFL merry go round after he gets cut by Atlanta. It would be so nice to get him back and be able to get rid of Adams.

Let the benchwarmer rot in the NFL! I understand BC absolutely NEEDS Rourke back. VA Jr is a waste of good air.

Lions not playing like division leaders. They played like godamn Edmonton

I just have to ask how is Vernon Adams Jr still the front runner for MOP? how? the league cannot be this corrupt!
